## What is Paperless Clipper for Safari?

Paperless Clipper saves the page you're reading to your self-hosted Paperless-ngx server with a single tap. No metadata forms, no tag pickers, no friction — just capture now, let your server classify later.

HOW IT WORKS

Tap the Paperless leaf in Safari's toolbar. The extension extracts the article using Mozilla Readability, renders it to a clean PDF locally on your device, and uploads it over HTTPS to the Paperless-ngx server you configured in Settings. Paperless-ngx then applies your existing tags, correspondents, document types, and AI-suggested titles — the same classification pipeline you already trust for everything else in your archive.

WHY NO TAG PICKER

Modern Paperless-ngx with AI classification makes manual tagging on the save path redundant and slow. Capturing first and classifying server-side means you can clip a page in two seconds without breaking your reading flow. If the classifier gets something wrong, fix it once on the server and the rules learn — there's no reason to repeat that work in a popup every time you save.

FIRST-TIME SETUP

1. In your Paperless-ngx web UI, open your user profile and copy the API Auth Token.
2. Open Paperless Clipper, tap the gear icon, and paste your server URL and token.
3. That's it. Every page from now on is one tap away from your archive.

REQUIREMENTS

• A Paperless-ngx server you operate (self-hosted)
• An API token from your server's user profile
• HTTPS access to your server from your device — oscale or WireGuard, or a public hostname with areal TLS certificate
PRIVACY
Paperless Clipper has no accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising SDKs, no third-party services, and no developer-controlled servers. The only netw save is the Paperless-ngx server you configure.Your server URL lives in extension storage; your API token lives in the platform Keychain. Nothing is shared with the developer or
 anyone else.
