## What is Papyrly?

Got a story idea? Papyrly turns it into a real story with AI. Type a single sentence, pick a style, and read your first chapter in about a minute, complete with its own AI cover art. Papyrly is an AI story writer and reading app in one: create your own stories chapter by chapter, keep them private or publish them, and discover what other writers are creating.

Write Stories with AI
Start with an idea as short as "a lighthouse keeper finds a letter dated tomorrow", or tap Surprise Me for inspiration. Papyrly plans your plot, characters and world, then writes a polished chapter you can read right away.

Pick Your Story Format
- Novel: a story told chapter by chapter
- Chat Story: a story told in text messages
- Script: a drama told in scenes and dialogue
- Diary & Letters: a story told in diary entries and letters
- Bedtime Story: a gentle tale with a lesson, for kids
- Learn & Quiz: explain any topic, with quizzes at the end of each chapter

Shape Every Detail
- Choose from 35+ genres: romance, fantasy, mystery, thriller, horror, sci-fi, adventure, comedy, cyberpunk, fairy tale and more
- Set the tone: cozy, suspenseful, funny, dark, heartwarming, epic, whimsical and more
- Pick first or third person, the setting and who the story is for: kids, everyone or adults
- Write in 21 languages, including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Indonesian, Filipino and Vietnamese

Cast Your Own Characters
Add up to five characters with a name, role and personality: a hero, love interest, best friend, mentor or villain. Make your child the hero of their own bedtime story, or leave it empty and let Papyrly invent the cast.

Cover Art for Every Story
Every new story gets its own AI-generated cover. Describe what you'd like to change and draw a new one, or give a chapter its own illustration.

Keep the Story Going
Write the next chapter whenever you like. Steer what happens, introduce new characters, choose the chapter length, rewrite a chapter you want to change, and decide when the story ends. Papyrly remembers your characters and plot so every chapter stays consistent.

Publish, Share and Discover
Keep your stories private or publish them to the Papyrly library. Share a link with friends, build your author page with your social links, and see what's trending this week. You can also explore our collection of interactive fiction, choose-your-path stories and bite-sized science, history and learning topics with quizzes.
