### 3/5 — Some features don’t work well

*2026-02-07, version 4.46*

Great app especially in these times. But the Siri activation doesn’t work. And lockdown mode doesn’t work if someone just locks the phone.

### 3/5 — Repeated activation without me doing anything! This is so annoying

*2025-10-03, version 4.46*

Make the platform more user friendly and reliable! These unexpected activations are a real pain.

### 2/5 — Needs more updates

*2025-06-11, version 4.46*

It’s good at first but you literally have to get out of the app in order for the emergency contact to see the live stream, they don’t have a family plan, and you can’t even hear the audio of the live stream what’s the point.

### 4/5 — Fantastic app - but why 2 years with no updates?

*2025-06-05, version 4.46*

As the title implies - 2 years is literally the beginning of GPT 3.5 up until today, where we have Apple Intelligence (ChatGPT on-device), MCP servers, Agent orchestration and other groundbreaking technology developments.

How do I know this app even still works? Would strongly suggest updates to at least monthly in order to show the app is in constant development. Or monthly training challenges? I’d really
Appreciate that.

### 2/5 — Money is always an issue

*2025-02-14, version 4.46*

I love this for a friend who needs this for interactions with an ex but money is an issue. so monthly fees is not something she can add to her budget right now. Love the idea though!

### 3/5 — App hasn’t been updated in 2 years

*2024-11-09, version 4.46*

I think this app is dead since it hasn’t been updated since iOS 16. Can a dev reply if this will be updated for iOS18 ?

### 3/5 — No customer support

*2024-08-14, version 4.46*

App seems good however I had an issue trying to add my partner’s number to which I contacted both Parachute’s support emails several times over and they never responded. I have an email tracker to confirm that the emails were received which confirmed so however they simply ignored all my repeated emails for what I would have thought was a simple technical issue.

### 1/5 — Costly

*2021-11-10, version 4.45*

You should not have to pay to unlock features, this is about safety, you shouldn’t be focused on money.

### 3/5 — Great idea but safety shouldnt have a price.

*2021-02-23, version 4.42*

Said it all in the title.

### 1/5 — 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻

*2020-09-11, version 4.33*

Absolutely DISGUSTED that this is now a subscription app. I've had it for years and luckily never had to use it. Really glad I didn't ever try only to find out I had to pay mid-emergency. Deleting the app immediately.

### 3/5 — Won’t activate with locked phone

*2020-06-27, version 4.30*

Used it for the first time during police stop. I asked Siri to activate the application as I have it setup in a shortcut. The application still required me to unlock my phone so it would start. I had the time to do this. Others may not. It works well besides this activation feature glitch.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — App doesn’t work anymore

*2026-01-26, version 4.46*

Don’t waste your time and money, this app is dead. Web page is unreachable with security warning and the app can’t connect to the service. Just hope no one uses it and as a life threatening emergency. Don’t understand why an app that is not functionnal and not updated in the last 3 years is still being offered.

### 1/5 — Protecting the world? Don’t make me laugh!

*2026-01-22, version 4.46*

Make sure to do a test run. I have done two so far and THE AUDIO DID NOT WORK! This company has no business making an app designed for life and death situations. Also, the video cut out multiple times, saying it was because the app was running in the background WHEN SUPERLOCK WAS ACTIVATED!!!

### 1/5 — Dead app ?

*2025-07-29, version 4.46*

Really wanted this to work, but it is unreliable. Great idea, but the developers are MIA. I cannot get a reply from support and the last update was over 2 years ago. Will cancel my subscription.

### 1/5 — “Concierge”? Ha!

*2025-06-20, version 4.46*

There are no clear instructions on how a family plan works and one week later, still waiting on a response to 3 emails sent from
Two different accounts about how to get it to work. If you can’t count on some supposed fancy “concierge” support how can you count on anything this company does?

### 1/5 — Pensé que era gratis

*2025-06-12, version 4.46*

Pensé que no tenía porque pagar y era gratis pero veo que se tiene que estar pagando mensual

### 1/5 — Dead app?

*2025-04-28, version 4.46*

If this app is dead please just say so. It hasn’t been updated in years. All the widgets stopped working with iOS 18. Support is impossible to contact. I honestly have no idea if this will even work if I need it to.

### 1/5 — Privacy Violations / Data Farm

*2024-08-02*

Why does this developer need to make users agree to allowing them to track, store, and reserve the right to share and sell data such as users’ purchases, user content, all contacts, etc. for the functionality of this app?? Frankly, I don’t even see why it would be necessary for the dev to know users’ identity to provide this service. Though NOT unique in its functionality, the safety features appear robust on their own merits. That said, this is a paid service that’s marketed as the ‘most powerful safety app’. Safety and privacy and intertwined and inseparable.

So, how can any app that blatantly and extensively violates users’ privacy for present or future financial gain be considered user-centric with safety as the primary function and outcome??? The fact is that users are paying for this service twice, with a cash subscription AND with their data, which is now considered to be the most valuable commodity in the world. At the very least, devs that collect profiling data should follow the standards set by Google, Facebook, etc. and provide ‘free’ services in exchange for data without an additional subscription for those that are fine with this type of exchange.

### 1/5 — False alerts

*2024-03-11, version 4.46*

I had two false alarms.
I thought 12 to 18 hours was enough time to check in on the app.
First false alarm, I guess I forgot to check in or it’s faulty because I couldn’t believe I forgot to check in since I’m always on the phone, I could have sworn I did check in… oh well.
Second time was an accident but I’m not sure how since the phone was in my pocket and parachute was activated and recording. You need a long press to activate it and I know I definitely did not long press it since I was working with my hands at the moment.
I love the idea but not if these false alarms keep happening no one will take it seriously if I’m ever in real danger.

### 1/5 — Are you kidding me

*2023-12-18, version 4.46*

I open the app for the first time in a while since i havnt needed to use it to record something urgent.

Im forced to sit through an introductory video after the app reinstalled itself. I already had to wait 10 seconds to get the reinstallation, then the video wouldnt allow me to skip it.

Utter design failure.

### 1/5 — Nice app - but zero customer support

*2021-11-18, version 4.45*

I wanted to ask them a few questions about family membership - as their website is not clear about how it works. I’ve tried contacting the company via email but no response. I even signed up as a member just so I could contact them. Got a different email address, but again no response after 5 days. Tried calling them but that also doesn’t seem to get you in touch with a human.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Does it need an update

*2026-05-30, version 4.46*

Seems great

### 5/5 — Membership

*2025-11-11, version 4.46*

I love this app. But can’t get ahold of developers to respond to my emails about my membership

### 5/5 — Absolutely Incredible

*2024-04-27, version 4.46*

Parachute is easily the most advanced personal safety app, the livestream features and additional functionality options are truly incredible and unlike anything on the market. I appreciate the creators who have great respect for the security and privacy of their users data and go above and beyond to protect it unlike other popular personal safety apps who sell user data to third parties. I think this app is specifically perfect for users who’re unfortunately experiencing domestic violence or anyone that has a situation in which notifying an emergency contact instead of involving the police is preferable. However, I personally need the option to call emergency services and sadly that option has been “coming soon” for more than a year or two now. I’m hoping they’re able to launch this feature soon as I know it will be massively beneficial to myself and so many others as well! Although it’s been a long wait I’m confident that it will be worth it and I still give this app 5 stars, in fact I would give it more if I could. In the meantime I’ve had to use a different bare bones safety app which doesn’t come anywhere near to Parachute, but I’ll be patiently awaiting the emergency services feature! I can’t wait to use Parachute as my primary safety app - developers please launch emergency services soon :)

### 5/5 — A must have!

*2024-04-12, version 4.46*

My son found this for me since I am alone a lot and I have a non-epileptic seizure disorder due to a brain condition. I used to use an SOS app which was useful for what I needed at the time, however it had quite a delay. This app however my son said, from the time I hit the button and the app notified my emergency contacts and my daughter got to me was only 34 seconds!
From someone who deals with regular seizures the rapid response time of this app is highly appreciated! Definitely a must have for not just loved ones who may be left alone but this would really come in incredibly helpful in any emergency situation, and is definitely worth the $9.99 a month for the unlimited for me!

### 5/5 — The best solution to walks alone

*2022-09-22, version 4.46*

I (thankfully) have never had to use parachute in an emergency situation but I live in London and commute to and from on my own and as anyone knows, there’s always times you feel uneasy when walking home or times someone approaches you and you’re unsure of their intentions.
I love having the app nearby and open so if I’m even slightly unsure something is arising I can immediately gain attention of my emergency contacts.
For £5 a year I think this app is a no brainier for anyone.

### 5/5 — Parachute is amazing.

*2021-03-19, version 4.44*

I was sexually assaulted a while back and ever since then i do not feel safe walking in public alone, this app really helps me feel safer, even if i’m not always in a super dangerous situation. it’s good to have a safety net like parachute.

### 5/5 — Best and most reliable safety app

*2021-03-14, version 4.43*

I feel much safer and empowered since I downloaded Parachute. I’ve tried a lot of different safety apps and Parachute is the best one and the only one that has worked reliably. I cannot recommend it enough, especially in such scary and uncertain times.

### 5/5 — Guarantees female safety when alone

*2021-03-13, version 4.43*

Parachute makes me feel protected and safe when I am walking around London. In light of the tragic Sarah Everard story, I am sure this app will help many more women feeling unsafe at the moment.

### 5/5 — Amazing

*2020-08-01, version 4.32*

I feel like everybody needs this app. I haven’t had to use it yet but I did however test it out and it worked amazingly. I feel a lot safer knowing I have this. Also the auto lock so if your phone gets snatched it carries on recording, absolutely amazing!

### 5/5 — This is just absolutely amazing and I would get this!!

*2020-04-24, version 4.24*

I know it’s short but it’s an amazing app
