It helps you navigate your way through the health care you will receive at the clinic, who your doctors are. It answers questions you have about your stay in the area if you are from out of town, the medications to use or avoid before surgery, what to expect day of and after care. I can’t even tell you how many times I read all the information before surgery and then after having my surgery. They did an amazing job on this app. ### 5/5 — Norman Parathyroid Center- a Medical Oasis *2025-01-17, version 1.0.8* Every medical center in the country should copy Norman Parathyroid Center’s treatment of their patients.The facility in Tampa Florida is new, clean and pleasant and the staff is kind and skilled. I live in Michigan but the procedure there required 4 separate visits for consultations, tests and surgery. Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa does everything in one visit. I went on line and clicked “Become a Patient” and the next week I had a telephone video conference with my great surgeon Dr. Lucas Watkins an expert in endocrine surgery to discuss my situation. The next month I flew to Tampa Florida and had my parathyroid surgery. They found a large tumor that my previous endocrinologist did not find. I arrived at the center at 8:30 and was back in my hotel at 5:30. They treated me and my family to first class treatment. They provided free shuttle service from a local hotel to the center. Communication was superb. Highly recommend if you need endocrine surgery. Every employee cares about providing exceptional care. The physicians are superb. If you need parathyroid surgery, this should be your number one center to consider! ### 5/5 — Norman parathyroid center *2024-12-07, version 1.0.7* The Norman center is incredible what an amazing journey I went through. It all started with my pcp doing my annual blood work I haven’t been feeling up to par for the past 6 months or more. She did the blood work then called me back to the office because of high calcium levels she then redid the calcium and added a PTH screen. Both came back very high she was unavailable when I got the results so I did my own internet search and came across the Norman Parathyroid Center and filled out the calcium and parathyroid app which diagnosed me with parathyroid disease, I called the center and talked to Rhonda who got the ball rolling for me, from there filled out paper work they checked my insurance coverage very helpful staff. Next I received a call for doctor Luke Watkins what a great person he is. Then it went to scheduling. They scheduled my surgery date (again extremely helpful) at this point I was also consulting with my pcp. We also used one of the 4 hotels recommended on the parathyroid.com web site for the Norman center, the hotel staff was great very friendly and helpful they set up the airport shuttles and hospital shuttles. The staff at the hospital where incredible from sign in to registering to preop, the scan person, the anesthesiologist, the operating room to post op, theses folks are incredible they answer all your questions and treat you and in my case my wife like family. Dr, Watkins operated on me and he is a pretty straight forward told us what was going to happen, he did an amazing job and got a 1/2 tumor that was causing all my problems, I can’t thank him enough. The evening of the operation my wife and I walked to a restaurant near are hotel after dinner we were walking back and it hit me like a brick, I had zero bone or joint pain, and 2 days out of surgery I have not had any joint pain or bone pain. My physical health and mental health are so much better I can’t believe it. If you need the parathyroid surgery go to the Norman center Dr. Watkins and the staff are an amazing bunch of professionals and I’m sure the other 6 surgeons are the same. After spending much time poring over the website, I knew the doctors were going to be experts. What I didn’t expect was the kindness and personal touch that I would feel once I arrived. Dr. Dan Ruan proved to be personable and welcoming. In fact, every employee went far above my expectations. I am so thankful that the nuclear scans are not used for diagnosis of the need for surgery at the NPC. Not a single hot spot showed on my scans; however, all four parathyroid glands were bad. Had I been at any other hospital, I would have been sent home without surgery. I look forward to finally feeling good again. Jan Taylor ### 5/5 — Good Experience *2024-05-14, version 1.0.7* Just had an adenoma removed from my parathyroid. I had a smooth experience. Everyone was kind and professional. I went to my primary with high blood pressure. I was put on blood pressure medication. The next year , this year, my blood pressure went up higher. Primary sent me to a cardiologist. He changed my blood pressure meds doubling some of them. I complained to my endocrinologist who was treating me for hypothyroidism. He said my fatigue was age related. Everyone my age needs an afternoon nap (77) at the time. My osteopenia changed into osteoporosis. I was then sent to a rheumatologist who ordered a pth and blood calcium lab tests as well as other tests. When the results showed an extremely high result of pth hormone and a higher than normal blood calcium level I knew from the internet readings I had a problem. I asked my endo who told me to wait and get retested without taking fosamax and calcium supplements. I started researching parathyroid values and discovered the Dr Norman clinic. I filled out the forms on line and Dr Watkins called me for a telehealth phone appointment after they received my lab results. We snowbird in Florida near Tampa and summer in Ohio. They gave me an appointment within 2 and 1/2 weeks. I then called my rheumatologist who told me this was an excellent clinic. My primary agreed with this. Had it done and today , the day after, we’re packing the car for our trip to Ohio. Other than constipation from the calcium supplements I need to take, everything is AOK. My neighbors were surprised to see me walking our dog the day after. I know I’ll continue to improve. I’m really pleased I found this clinic on line. I appreciate the call after surgery from Dr Watkins and the approachability of everyone at the clinic. The breakfast for my husband and lunch for both of us was an added bonus. ### 5/5 — Fatigued? Hurt all over? Just getting old? It may be high calcium / hypercalcemia! *2024-05-04, version 1.0.7* GET THIS APP! High blood calcium and high PTH hormones? You must go see the folks at the Norman Parathyroid Center in Tampa FL (authors of this app)! They CURE hypothyroidism. Post op I feel like I have a new body. All the unrelated “old age” symptoms - fatigue/exhaustion, bone and muscle aches, brain fog (dementia worries), hair loss, loss of the “joie de vivre”, I.e. “COACH POTATO DISEASE” , are gone, overnight. They removed the parathyroid tumor that had stripped my bones of calcium and polluted the rest of my body by dropping blood calcium in all the wrong places! (Kidney stones, calcified arteries, lymph nodes, etc). This disease is under diagnosed. Fixing it is life changing. Educate yourself for you and your loved ones!!! From the time my husband and I entered the building we received superb care. We traveled from Virginia to have this surgery. I have had high calcium levels for approximately 6 years and had no idea it was causing all the problems I was having until my new primary care doctor advised me how serious this condition was. Reached out to EVMS ear, nose and throat in my area to schedule in August 2023 and they could see me until December 15, 2023. I waited for all of those months to go in on December 15th at 8 am and they advise me that my appointment was bumped to December 22nd. I went back on December 22nd but I was not comfortable with a surgeon that only had one year in practice doing multiple types of surgeries in ENT and not just parathyroid. That’s when I went to Google and found this amazing hospital in Tampa, Florida. Read the reviews and I was in. Set the appointment and had my consultation with Dr. Kevin Parrack on February 9th and here I am on March 12th and it’s done!!! The other good thing is that the parathyroid tumor was what I was coming to have removed, however, when they went in they found another abnormal gland and removed that one too. I thank God for ordering my steps to this hospital. I went to Tampa alone for my surgery based on the data in this app. Upon arrival the morning of surgery, I was informed that they could not do the surgery with me being alone. I had to make emergency plans to get someone to Tampa in order for them to proceed with surgery.
