### 4/5 — Simple and attractive

*2026-08-22, version 1.1.1*

Parchment may not have all the features of some notes apps, but its simplicity is part of the attraction. I like the look and feel and take pleasure in using it.

### 4/5 — Pretty much perfect

*2026-08-21*

This app is great. It does what I’ve always wanted -- allows me to keep using the systems I’m used to and rely on with the benefit of having a single place where all those details are consolidated. The only thing that would bump this from 4 to 5 stars for me would be the ability to adjust the view on the homepage to make the timed events appear on the left and all day events on the right. It’s very small, but that’s just how my brain wants the formatting to work. Maybe there’s already a way to do this, but I haven’t figured it out. Will happily update this to 5 stars if that perk comes available.

### 3/5 — The screen moves when trying to do handwritten notes.

*2026-08-13, version 1.1*

This is my second review.

When doing handwritten notes (which is all that I do), the screen moves when I’m writing, making it difficult to input with the Apple Pencil.

Sometimes things I’ve written shows up at the bottom of the screen, and not at the entry point of the tip of the pencil.

It seems like a sensitivity issue with my palm touching the screen - I’m not sure.

I use this app daily. However, the above mentioned is becoming a problem.

### 3/5 — Overall good

*2026-08-13*

The app’s cloud sync can be very frustrating as if I write between two lines of text it just erases it. I can only ever write below a previous line of text. With cloud sync v3, the Mac app is incredibly buggy and fails to load and always states “loading daily journal” which wipes out previous text. The app is really useful but I wish when it came to sync, ‘it just worked’.

**Developer response:** Hello, I just shipped a new update that fixes a lot of bugs. Please update to v1.1.1 of the app.

### 3/5 — I want to love this but I can’t yet

*2026-08-12*

This app is a great idea, but it’s been pretty buggy for me. Markdown rendering doesn’t work dependably. When I navigate away from a daily note and then return to it, I just see a message saying, “Loading rendered daily note” but it never loads. I also accidentally create events instead of reminders all the time—it would be great if I could change the default. Also, I would like to disable some of the “smart” features so that I don’t have to avoid using common keywords: for example, if I write a reminder referencing “Thursday” it changes from a reminder to an event.

**Developer response:** Hello, I just shipped a new update that fixes a lot of bugs. Please update to v1.1.1 of the app.

### 4/5 — A work in progress, but I like it

*2026-08-07*

Like others, I had issues with this app. For me, it was failure to sync and data loss. I’m happy to say that yesterday’s update seems to have worked. Sync seems to be working now, and I can cautiously start using the app again. That’s great because I really like the look and feel, along with the power to set calendar events and reminders right from my daily log. Keep up the good work!

**Developer response:** Hello,

I apologize for the bugs. I just released a new update that address all of this. Please update to version 1.0.5 or newer.

### 5/5 — Simple and useful

*2026-08-07*

I love the simplicity of this app and that it does two things really easily.

1. What have I got going on today?
2. What do I need to remember for today?

The ability to check yesterday and plan tomorrow really easily is really nice.

Great app.

### 5/5 — Just what I’ve been looking for

*2026-08-07, version 1.0.5*

Great app and fills the void I’ve been looking for while still leveraging all the benefits of Apple native productivity apps. Chris is my go to YouTuber for iOS and iPadOS information and his knowledge shows in the app. Well done Chris!

### 5/5 — I never leave reviews, but…

*2026-08-07*

This app is simple, it works well, and it’s exactly what I was looking for. Perfection!

### 5/5 — Apple should have made this!

*2026-08-03*

I’ve been looking for something for a while that integrates my Calendar and Reminders list and shows me everything I have going on that day. Bonus - buy it and the iPhone and iPad versions are included. Great value. It just works.

### 5/5 — Yep… We want more this (Integrated, Private, No Subscriptions)

*2026-08-03*

The app is a great initial app. This is so easy to use… and exactly what I have been looking for. There are some very small UI clean up things on MacOS with the note area being able to auto adjust the screen size. Maybe a very basic WYSIWYG editor. Some very small things with settings and UI view.

Hope you keep it basic, simple to use, and integrated.

Looking forward to more apps like this in the future from developers.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-08-03*

A really useful minimal app but notes you make can be shared with other people or apps. Really like this app.

### 5/5 — Simply delivers

*2026-08-03*

The simplicity, clarity and aesthetics make it a joy to use. It has quickly become part of my morning routine to look at the day ahead.

### 2/5 — Daily Notes is inconsistent

*2026-08-02*

Update notes are getting deleted.

**Developer response:** Hello,

I apologize for the bugs. I just released a new update that address all of this. Please update to version 1.0.5 or newer.

### 5/5 — Easy to use & practical!

*2026-08-02*

The layout makes it much easier to consolidate all the reminders, events and notes together! Thank you so much for making this!

### 5/5 — Cool concept

*2026-08-02*

I really enjoy this app. My favorite part is that it connects to my calendar events. One feature that would be good to have is a "this week" tab to show the week's events. I also would love a "coming up soon" or a "up next" tab to show events happening soon. Also: if the app showed "happening in 15 minutes" or "happening in 1 hour". Thank you for this app!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Useless

*2026-08-15*

It’s pretty much useless. You still need Reminders and Calendar.
It don’t even reminds you, Reminders does.
It’s just a third app besides Reminders and Calendar that does absolutely nothing.

### 1/5 — Update ruined the experience

*2026-08-11, version 1.1*

Downloaded on the 1st day it dropped. Loved it for design and speed. It was so easy to add new tasks. The new update broke that experience. Plus button defaults to events now, it needs additional tap to save task. YTT top bar now has redundant drop down.

### 1/5 — Really wanted to like it

*2026-08-01*

I appreciate this (seemingly Claude coded) app. Simple design. But on macOS it is unusable. Way too buggy. Text doesn’t save as I go between days. Markdown doesn’t stay rendered. Changing the fonts doesn’t always update the actual text. iCloud sync says it’s synced even after I had it disabled. Reducing the width of the app in dual full screen mode caused the tasks and events to break the tiles and it just looks destroyed.
Hopefully future updates will help, but this app is not ready for launch. I tried to get a refund but it’s not eligible. I don’t mean to be rude, and I think it’s priced perfectly fairly, but it’s just unusable and I’m bummed. I can’t trust it to save my notes. On latest OS as of a couple days ago. M1 Pro. Hopefully you can get those bugs fixed. Maybe I’ll try again in another few months and I’ll be happy to update my rating.

**Developer response:** Hello,

I apologize for the bugs. I just released a new update that address all of this. Please update to version 1.0.5 or newer.

### 1/5 — Lost all of my notes

*2026-07-28, version 1.0.4*

Sync between the desktop and iPad doesn’t seem to work. I tried manually triggering sync to see if that would help, but instead it caused me to lose all of my data.

I really like the idea behind this app, but I can’t risk losing data. Unfortunately, I’ll be deleting it and moving on.

### 1/5 — Worked for a day, now won’t launch

*2026-07-22, version 1.0.2*

I ended up adding a Parchment widget to the main screen. After launching it once, the application basically will not launch anymore. I did this again after uninstalling and reinstalling and the same thing happened.

### 1/5 — Nice idea, poor execution

*2026-07-22*

TL;DR: Core features are broken. Wouldn’t recommend until these are fixed.

Creating a reminder doesn’t create one in the Reminders app, it just creates an event in the Calendar app, defeating the whole purpose of the feature.

Creating a calendar event is its own frustrating ordeal. Set a specific time, calendar, and recurrence, and none of it applies when you save. Instead, you get an all day event, on the default calendar, with no recurrence. Try to fix it, and saving only applies one change at a time, so you’re stuck editing the same event three separate times just to get what you originally asked for. Even after all that, the dates I’d set it to recur on had nothing scheduled.

It’s a nice looking app but poorly executed, with some pretty obvious bugs that should’ve been caught before release, let alone charging money for it. Goes to show that a well made YouTube demo video is no indication of the quality of the product. I’d request a refund if I could, but I’ll just have to treat this as a lesson learnt.

**Developer response:** Hello,

Sorry for the bug. We just published an update that should fix this issue. Please update the app. If you have any more problem there is a support button at the bottom of the settings page.

### 1/5 — Widget

*2026-07-20*

Widget not showing instant

Search Option !! is missing

**Developer response:** Hello,

Sorry for the bug. We just published an update that should fix this issue. Please update the app. If you have any more problem there is a support button at the bottom of the settings page.

### 1/5 — Unusable

*2026-07-19*

I wanted to like this but it’s unusable. If you type in it, sync it and then press the “tomorrow” button and then return to “today,” everything written in the notes section is gone. Also if you sync in one device and then open in another, again it erases everything. There’s zero point to using this app if it won’t keep the writing in the notes.

**Developer response:** Hello,
We just published an update to fix this very problem. If you update the app and open it, that should fix this issue. Sorry about that!

### 2/5 — Serious Bugs

*2026-08-09*

Hey man! This is my second review of this app. Certain bugs are just hard to ignore when I’ve paid for this app and use it daily to plan out my day. There is another bug that causes repetitive text. I’ve deleted the text only to have it resurface yet again. Proper testing should have taken place before being greedy and just releasing it into the wild. This bug takes away from the basic functionality and it’s frustrating. Please fix.

**Developer response:** Hello,

I apologize for the bugs. I just released a new update that address all of this. Please update to version 1.0.5 or newer.

### 2/5 — Great concept, just not ready

*2026-08-05*

I love everything this app is aiming to solve, but it is way too buggy to recommend at this time. I used it to take notes during an important board meeting, and after typing a note, I put my phone to sleep to stay present. When I opened it back up to add another note, I noticed the previous note vanished. I tried to shake my phone to “undo” the text disappearing to no avail, and I typed it again to the best of my recollection. Put the phone to sleep — gone again. Again, I really like what this app is going for, but it has some serious problems to figure out before anyone can reliably use it.

**Developer response:** Hello,

I apologize for the bugs. I just released a new update that address all of this. Please update to version 1.0.5 or newer.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App

*2026-08-26*

Very simple but shows and do everything that we need on a daily basis. Really worth it.

### 5/5 — Great simple app

*2026-08-19, version 1.1.1*

User friendly. I do have one issue. Synching to v3 is not working.

### 5/5 — Simple and effective and no subscription!

*2026-08-18, version 1.1.1*

I saw the developer show this app on YouTube so I tried it and it is really good. I love being able to see my day and notes all together. I believe it will make me more productive. Can’t wait to see what other improvements he makes.

### 5/5 — Very Useful App - Responsive Developer

*2026-08-16, version 1.1.1*

This app is excellent and provides an e-journal that links calendar and reminders in a really useful way. The new version has some great actions for shortcuts. The developer is very responsive to problems and addressed mine right away.

### 5/5 — Excellent

*2026-08-15*

Really enjoying Parchment by Christopher Lawley. You can tell it’s been developed by a user. It’s practical, it does what it sets out to achieve in a direct and unfussy way. The bells and whistles are great - because there aren’t any. It just give you what you need to get on with things in a single uncluttered place - excellent.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app & compliment to Reminders/Calendar

*2026-08-13*

This app seemed like it was made for me. I live in Apple Calendar and Reminders and always wanted a way to have both show that wasn’t overwhelming. Showing reminders in the calendar app was nice but since it wasn’t ordered and it pushed timed and even all day events to the bottom, if I had a ton of reminders, it was too cluttered to read. The layout of All Day/no time alongside Timed is great. The widgets work nicely on phone & mac.

I’m not using the Daily Note too often but it is a nice thing to have and as the developer noted in a video for the app, it’s great to update tomorrow’s Daily Note so you see it first thing the next morning.

One bug I noticed was the medium widget on the iphone doesn’t say “x more” if not all the items can be displayed. It works fine on the small and large size widgets on iphone. Note, it also works on the medium sized Mac widget. So just an iphone problem.

A feature I’d like would be maybe to be able to have all day Calendar events show up in the Timed section? I know it doesn’t make sense, but I have birthdays and a ton of reminders, and the birthday got buried on my phone and it wasn’t until I pulled up app on mac that I noticed it. Not a deal breaker but maybe some way to tweak that?

### 5/5 — Cool

*2026-08-13*

So far this is a really awesome app, I am using it daily and have the widget on my Home Screen. A++

### 5/5 — Parchment is exactly what i was looking for.

*2026-08-12*

So basically I want to get my study habits better using the book “How to get Straight As in college by cal newport” In the book he follow a similar workflow that this app provides but on paper…I know we live in the modern age so I really want to find something way more convenient then a piece of paper. Having an app like this just removes a lot of friction in my work flow. Less friction = more productivity. Now if there only was a windows version that syncs with my current work flow of my iPhone,iPad and Laptop. Keep up the great work the most recent update cleared up a lot of bugs I was facing Thank you.

### 5/5 — Unique Little App

*2026-08-10, version 1.1*

Love this unique app that combines notes, Apple Reminders and Apple calendar

### 5/5 — Very useful for me

*2026-08-07, version 1.0.5*

Very useful for me to have everything in one place, and easy to use. Thank you!
