## What is Parental Control?

ScreenTreat helps families turn screen time into positive daily habits. Instead of constant battles, kids complete their must-do routines before unlocking their screen time.

Children can also earn bonus screen time and special stars, which can be redeemed for real-world rewards. Meanwhile, parents stay in full control - tracking progress, adjusting limits instantly, and managing tasks and schedules directly from their phone. Make screen time work for your family, not against it.

How It Works:
Parents set must-do tasks (e.g., chores, hygiene, homework) for kids to unlock regular daily screen time. Kids can also earn extra time for completing bonus tasks.
Parents set daily limits, bedtime, and other custom off-screen schedules, select apps to block, manage existing tasks, or create custom ones.

1. Install ScreenTreat: Download the app and select "kid" or "parent" device.
2. Pair parent and child device using QR code to enable family plan benefits and remote control (when applicable)
3. Set Up Parent Controls: allow screen time permissions, define screen time limits, assign daily tasks, and create bonus tasks for extra screen time.
4. Let Your Kids Complete Tasks: Kids unlock their screen time by finishing Must-Do tasks and can earn more by completing Bonus tasks.

Start motivating your child by turning their chores into screen time rewards!

How much daily screen time should I give?
We recommend a daily limit of 30 minutes based on age and completed tasks. For kids aged 6-12, the total screen time (including Must-Do and Bonus tasks) should not exceed 2 hours on weekdays and 4 hours on weekends.

### 5/5 — Love it!

*2026-05-21*

As a mom of two kids, ScreenTreat has been a game changer for our family. What I love most is that my kids have to complete their must-do tasks before their screen time unlocks. It’s helped so much with routines, homework, chores. The app makes parenting a little less stressful and motivates kids in a really smart way. Super easy to use and definitely worth it for busy parents!

**Developer response:** Thanks for the great feedback! Really happy to help turn screentime into positive habits

### 1/5 — Bad

*2026-03-13*

I can’t get my child stars. It’s so annoying because you gotta do everything twice and whenever I blocked every app in Games, my child still could access all of her games.

**Developer response:** Hi Theadora, sorry to hear about the issues. Our latest release now also is showing actual start balance in parent controls. As for accessing the blocked apps while must-do task are not completed or the time has expired - this is definitely not expected behavior. We have looked into it and could not replicate the same issue. If the problem still persist, please reach out to us hi@screentreat.app.

### 5/5 — Practical and Easy

*2025-08-22*

We researched several apps to block my child's iPad before completing chores. This is exactly what I was looking for and offers more than I was envisioning. It's relatively simple, can be managed from the parent's device, and works with screen time limits.

You're getting: 1) the ability to block the device (or selected apps) until must-do chores are completed, 2) control over total screen time use per day, 3) control over downtime, 4) the ability to lock down or completely allow the device at any point in time, 5) customization for the kid to earn extra time after completing bonus chores, and 6) great customer service!

I highly recommend this app if you're looking for any or all of this. Of course, you'll need to establish your own expectations and consequences for marking off chores when they haven't been completed, but unfortunately the app doesn't make that choice :)

Well done, ScreenTreat!

### 5/5 — 💖💖pretty good!!👌👌

*2025-07-23*

I really love the supportive texts under the Screen Time counter, very supportive and gentle!! even when screen time is up!! I especially love that it's supportive of you earning screen time, since you *earned* it, that'll encourage you and make you proud of yourself!! instead of guilting you into using your screen time

**Developer response:** Thank you for a great feedback! Indeed we believe future screen use is to be balanced with this positive mindset! Very happy you enjoy Screentreat ❤️

### 5/5 — This is The One

*2025-06-23*

I downloaded a bunch of these types of apps because the iOS restrictions just weren’t cutting it. ScreenTreat is the whole package. It doesn’t over-complicate anything, and it works.

- You choose which apps to limit.
- You choose the time limits (not just the “downtime” time windows)
- You can easily add/remove time on the fly.
- No subscription!
- So user friendly for kids and parents.

I have a degree in Behavioral Science and I’m a parent of two smart daughters. This is the tool I’ve been needing to make screen use workable for my family.

**Developer response:** Thank you for such a great feedback! We love to hear it from a parent with great experience in both theory and practice. We hope you will continue to enjoy the journey with Screentreat to turn screen time into positive motivation

### 5/5 — Brilliant way to balance screen time!

*2025-03-29*

Finally, an app that makes managing kids’ screen time easy and rewarding! I’ve been looking for something like this for a long time—ScreenTreat encourages kids to complete daily tasks to earn screen minutes, turning screen management into a positive experience. Simple and effective. A must-have app for all parents!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your feedback, really happy to know Screentreat has such a positive effect!

### 5/5 — No more bad guy!

*2025-01-04*

Finally an easy way to manage screen time and using an app on the child’s device, so the app is the bad guy, not me! How many times do we tell our kids they can have 5 more minutes and then lose count and give our kids an extra 20?! Not any longer. This app also ensures they do their chores first and they can win bonus time. Bonus time is the best! This app is great for teaching both independence and time management to children. It’s definitely worth trying.

**Developer response:** Thank you for a great feedback. The app is now a bad cop indeed:)

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.25 — 2026-04-20

We're pleased to introduce templates (presets) for must-do and bonus tasks. As parents ourselves we find it may be hard to find suitable chores and moreover, put a reward in screentime minutes or stars. Therefore we have added the task bank allowing for a quick start and easy set up - try it out!
In addition we've improved the selected avatar on the home screen and added a few bugfixes.

We wish you a happy screentime!

### 1.24 — 2026-02-19

We're super excited to introduce the Star rewards. Stars is a way to encourage off-screen rewards for completing bonus tasks that have star value in addition to (or instead of) screen time. An extensive template library is at hand to help with managing the rewards - anything from a favorite treat to visiting an amusement park. Give it a try!

In addition we have revamped the way the application looks and feels - the kid can choose from 28 characters for the main screen and the new iOS glass effect makes the UI look clean.

With some technical tweaks and a few bugfixes, this is the biggest Screentreat update since launch!

### 1.23 — 2025-12-01

We're very happy to introducing reports for bonus tasks! Which tasks work well? How much time has the kid earned during the last 7 days? Are there any stale tasks? You can now easily answer these questions and adjust the bonus tasks to make sure you meet the goals and the kid is motivated to earn screentime.
Try it out!

### 1.22 — 2025-11-24

NEW: activity log! We're happy to announce the latest feature - Activity Log. It allows the parents to quickly see the daily summary - when a task has been marked as done, if there was bonus time added (and how much) or if unlimited mode / block screen time have been activated.

### 1.21 — 2025-11-14

Minor bugfixes
