However this week the opening page for the app had been a sign in page(hasn’t come up in years.) I have an account with money in the wallet, but I signed in anyway. Then I noticed that there is no submit button; after putting in my phone number nothing happens. I can not use the app and I have tried to find customer support, but the phone # Evanston311 gave to me goes unanswered! I can’t get into the app so I can’t contact customer support through it. Extremely frustrating!!!!! ### 1/5 — App not working *2025-08-23, version 9.2.1* The app hasn’t been working in Aug 2025. Support is un helpful. ### 2/5 — It used to work but not recently *2025-05-27, version 9.2.1* I loved the app and used the wallet function linked to a credit card. 5 days ago I kept getting Network error while trying pay at a meter on Church’s St. messaged support- they told me to update phone iOS and delete/reinstall the app. iOS is fine and finally got the card to be accepted. But now it’s back to network error even at home with strong WiFi - keeps asking for payment source while showing $18 in the wallet and won’t take a new card. Fix this app!!!! ### 1/5 — Full of bugs *2025-05-08, version 9.2.1* All sent support tickets were ignored. The app is not maintained well and all the issues aren’t getting resolved. Pretty useless, at this point. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work. Who programmed this nonsense? *2025-04-26* Tried to enter credit card info, doesn’t work. Says “cannot connect to network” or some other nonsense. They expect you to download the app to pay for parking but the app doesn’t work because they likely use low wage engineers in third world countries like India who don’t know anything about software engineering and don’t know how to test anything either. Get better competent engineers who know software who can design something that actually works! Evanston also likely does this because they don’t want you to be able to easily add extra time on your parking using the app, so then they can give you a ticket for parking past your allotted time. Scammers. ### 2/5 — Frequent Errors *2025-04-26, version 9.2.1* I have had this app glitch on me several times. It will say that there is an error with payment even when the payment has gone through. Most recently, it charged me twice for one parking period. When I used support in the app, the chat response was that they were not eligible to provide returns. I never have these issues with parking apps in other cities and don’t understand why this one is so glitchy and has such poor customer service ### 1/5 — Cannot update payment information *2025-02-19, version 9.2.1* Was fine until I had to update my debit card. Now it constantly says network error or invalid card. No work around. Even tried to update on their website. Still wouldn’t work. Support told me to just uninstall and reinstall the app. Did not work. Tried different credit cards, same issue. Lots of folks saying the same thing on Reddit. ### 1/5 — Won’t accept card *2024-12-20, version 9.2.1* It will tell you your card can’t be processed, no matter which card you use or how many times you try. I don’t want to pay for time I know I’m not gonna use, but that’s what they want - more money. Useless, avoid if possible. ### 2/5 — Where’s my wallet? *2024-09-19, version 9.2.1* This app is convenient but I’m annoyed that I am unable to set up a wallet and have to pay the service fee every time I use it. The fee is often almost as much as the cost to park. Why isn’t Evanston making the vendor update the app to allow wallet set up after the first use? ### 1/5 — Disappearing wallet *2023-12-18, version 9.2.1* Twice in a year I’ve opened this app to find that my account has been deleted and the value of “my wallet” is gone. Beyond the frustration of having to reenter a credit card number on the spot, it takes several interactions with the company to resolve it. ### 1/5 — Parking Apps taking money *2023-09-20, version 9.2.1* My husband and I have both had to re-log in to our Park Evanston and Park Chicago apps, losing our wallet funds. The only way to avoid this happening again is to pay to park each time, not using the wallet feature but paying a 35¢ usage fee each time. I suppose making the wallet feature unusable is much more profitable. ### 1/5 — Super inconsistent app *2023-08-30, version 9.2.1* I regularly try to use this app twice a week. Within the last month, I’ve encountered “network error” twice and was unable to use even after uninstalling & reinstalling. Much easier to use the site to pay over this craptastic app. Do not recommend ### 1/5 — If it asks you to reset your pin, beware ! *2023-08-19* One day I opened the app and it asked me to reset my pin. Doing so created a new account. I lost all of the value in my app based wallet and the company behind it refuses to refund unless I give them a screenshot proving the amount (which conveniently for them is impossible since they tricked me into replacing my old account with a new one. ### 1/5 — Worked until the update *2023-04-19, version 9.2.1* It declines every one of my payments and I can’t purchase parking. I have tried to delete cards and add them again to the wallet and that didn’t work either. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Can't pay *2026-08-14, version 9.8.0* The app is stuck on the final page: the "Confirm Payment" button does not work. I can see it getting a little darker when I tap it, but it does not confirm. Everything is filled in. No warnings or errors. Really? *2026-08-09, version 9.8.0* So now you added a convenience fee? It's not convenient. It's ridiculous. Evanston parking is already expensive and makes doing business locally undesirable. Evanston, this is why retail is hurting. City of Evanston, do better. Started charging a convenience. App doesn’t work and they’re just greedy ### 1/5 — Cannot set a PIN *2026-07-12, version 9.8.0* I’m trying to use the app and it gives me a code to verify who I am as if being on my phone isn’t enough… then it asks me to reset my pen to a four digit number. And won’t accept any combination of numbers it gives me an error. ### 1/5 — Fee Change 2026 *2026-07-08, version 9.8.0* As of July 1 2026, they’ve started charging convenience fees for ALL app parking sessions again - even when you’ve preloaded and are using a wallet as the funding source (0.30). Scam. If you don’t preload, fee is higher (0.47). Meter is ALWAYS cheaper. Weirdly, fees with credit card at meter are lower than both of these (0.22) - despite always charging the credit card each transaction. Of course, cash at meters leads to no fee. Either way, meters are cheaper - use those. Skip this scam. ### 1/5 — The parking app industry is a scam *2026-05-27, version 9.8.0* Let’s be clear—anywhere that thinks they’re special enough to have their own individual parking app is awful, but this was additionally bad as it was for a spot that only lets you park for 30 minutes. And I had to wait several minutes to download it, and then it wouldn’t take Apple Pay or anything more secure than having to copy one’s card information on the street. Bring back parking meters. Better yet, just let people park for 30 minutes. ### 1/5 — Your app is bad *2026-02-27, version 9.6.7* And you should feel bad ### 1/5 — The App Doesn’t Work *2026-01-25, version 9.2.1* The app will not allow me to sign in. I have contacted the City of Evanston. I tried all the fixes they suggested. Nothing worked. Rather than doing more, they closed my case and basically said good luck. As for the complaint that a $0.35 fee attaches to lesser time periods, just consider that as 'insurance' against the actual cost of a parking ticket, which is several multiples of that, and stop whining.
