ParkGratis helps you find free parking, customer parking, and low-cost spots near any address, mall, or supermarket in Sweden. The parking data for all of Sweden is bundled in the app — searches and spot details work right on your device, with no waiting on a server. The map itself loads over the network. WHAT YOU GET • Colour-coded P-signs on the map: green = free, teal = store/customer parking, blue = paid, grey = unknown. Always check the sign on site. • Satellite view with high-resolution aerial imagery over 60 municipalities, so you can see the entrance, the barrier, and where the bays actually are before you set off. • Price and brand pills right on the map where the data exists (for example "25 kr/h" or the store's name). • Plan ahead: pick a start time and a minimum parking duration to filter out spots that close too soon — and get a rough cost estimate for your stay. • Can I park here? One answer for the centre of the map, weighing street rules, fee hours and prohibitions together — and it says "unknown" rather than guessing. • My car: save where you parked and find your way back. • Reminders: get a local notification before your time runs out. • Favourites plus Home/Work for quick access. • Pay shortcuts to common parking apps for paid spots. • Read the sign with the camera: point at the sign pole and it is interpreted on the phone — the picture is never uploaded. You get what the sign says in plain words with the clock, the weekday and the public holidays folded in, and whatever could not be read is shown as exactly that. An interpretation aid — the sign on the spot is what counts. • Offers at the till: where a sponsored place carries an offer, an "Använd erbjudande" (use offer) button appears. Tap it once you are there and you get a single-use code as a QR code to show the staff, who scan it. The code is valid for 15 minutes. Not every area has such places. BUILT FOR PRIVACY No account and no sign-up. No analytics and no tracking. Your settings, searches, and saved places stay on your device. The app may show the occasional sponsored place near where you are — or near a destination you chose. These are always labelled "Sponsrad", they never affect which car parks are listed, their order, their price, or whether they count as free — and you can switch them off in Settings. If you tap "Använd erbjudande", the app sends a random device id that is not linked to you, plus your position, which is only compared with the business's location to check that you are nearby and is not stored. ABOUT THE DATA Street parking rules come from the municipalities' own traffic regulations as published in Svensk trafikföreskriftssamling; parking places and facilities come from OpenStreetMap. Either source may be incomplete or out of date, and a regulation can change before the app's offline dataset does, so spots show as "unknown" or "likely free" rather than a firm answer wherever the source does not settle it. Always check the signage on site. ## Version history (last 5 releases) ### 1.2.11 — 2026-09-09 THE MAP NO LONGER ZOOMS PAST ITS OWN ACCURACY You could pinch in until the screen held a few metres of ground, and at that point the street-rule lines visibly missed the street. The map now stops at the level where it can stand behind what it draws. "CAN I PARK HERE?" SAYS MAYBE WHEN THE ANSWER IS MAYBE Sometimes a green "Yes — free now" rested on a marked stretch some distance away, while a parking ban was in force where you actually stood. The app now answers "Maybe — check the sign" in amber and writes out how far away the stretch behind the answer lies. A CLOSE BUTTON YOU CAN HIT The answer card closes with a wide Close button along the bottom instead of a small × in the corner. On a prohibition answer, that × had been the only control on the whole card. THE LEGEND SHOWS EACH STROKE SEPARATELY The street rules' single clumped row is split into one row per stroke, and the dash pattern now follows what applies right now rather than which kind of record the rule came from. Follow it. ### 1.2.9 — 2026-09-08 READ THE SIGN WITH THE CAMERA Point the camera at the sign pole and the app reads it for you — on the phone, without the picture leaving it. You get no verdict, but what the sign says in plain words, with the clock, the weekday and the public holidays folded in: what applies right now, when it changes next, and what the whole pole says line by line. WHEN SOMETHING CANNOT BE READ, THE APP SAYS SO If a plate could not be interpreted it says so, and it claims nothing about the sign as a whole. When a text is uncertain it asks you instead of guessing — answer, and the card corrects itself at once. THE VIEWFINDER HELPS YOU AIM A frame and a line of text show how the pole should fill the picture, and the first time you get a short instruction. If a single plate came out unclear you can retake just that one, not the whole pole. OFFERS FOLLOW YOUR POSITION Sponsored places are now anchored to where you actually are, however far the map is zoomed out, and they appear without you searching for a destination first. If you have chosen a destination, that still wins, exactly as before. In 1.2.8 they could stay away until you searched — that is fixed. STILL NOT SENT The photo is read on the phone and is never uploaded. The list of sponsored places is fetched as it stands, and the choice of which to show is made on your own device. Your position is never sent to us in order to pick ads. The sign on the street is the one that counts. Follow it. ### 1.2.8 — 2026-09-07 OFFERS WHERE YOU ARE Sponsored places now show around the part of the map you are looking at — which, when you open the app, is usually where you are. You no longer have to search for a destination first. Zoom in to neighbourhood level and they appear; zoomed out, none are shown. If you have chosen a destination, that still wins, exactly as before. Not every area has such places. THE DISTANCE SAYS WHAT IT WAS MEASURED FROM The sponsored-place popup now says "härifrån" (from here) when the distance is measured from your GPS position. If the app does not know where you are, it prints no distance line at all — it never claims a distance from a point it cannot name. STILL NOT SENT The whole list of sponsored places is downloaded as it stands, and the choice of which to show is made on your own device. Your position is never sent to us in order to pick ads. THE MAP FINDS YOU WHEN YOU OPEN THE APP The app asks for your location as soon as it opens — allow it and the map centres on where you are, with the parking and the sponsored places around you, without you tapping anything. The location button is now for when you have moved somewhere else on the map and want to come back. If the phone needs longer to get a GPS lock, the app waits for it instead of giving up. The sign on the street is what counts. Follow it. ### 1.2.7 — 2026-09-05 OFFERS CAN NOW BE USED AT THE TILL Where a sponsored place carries an offer, the card has an "Använd erbjudande" (use offer) button. Tap it once you are there and the app shows a single-use code as a QR code for the staff to scan. The code is valid for 15 minutes. Not every area has such places. DIRECTIONS FROM A SPONSORED PLACE The "Vägbeskrivning" (directions) button in the sponsored-place popup did nothing in some situations. It works now. The sign on the street is what counts. Follow it. ### 1.2.6 — 2026-09-02 THE FEE STOPS WHEN THE REGULATION SAYS IT STOPS A kerb whose regulation charges only on weekday daytimes was shown as paid at every hour — evenings, Saturdays, Sundays, the small hours. The regulation states the paid hours in its own text, and that text had never reached the field the app reads, so the charge looked permanent. It is now read from the regulation on 835 stretches of kerb. Where the fee window ends, the app says free, because that is what the document says. THE CLEANING-DAY BAN IS NOW ON THE CARD, NOT JUST A WARNING Some kerbs carry a ban that exists only as a sentence in the regulation — "parking is however prohibited Tuesday between 08.00 and 12.00" — with nothing structured behind it. Until now the app could only mark those kerbs as carrying something it could not read. It now reads 770 of them and shows the hours. This is the case that gets a car towed, so where the sentence is not plain enough to read whole, the app still refuses rather than guessing: 1,161 kerbs keep the warning instead of acquiring a ban we are not sure of. A REGULATION IS NOT IN FORCE BEFORE THE DAY IT SAYS IT IS A regulation that takes effect next month was being applied today, and regulations that had already ceased were still being answered for. Both now follow the dates the document states, and 78 expired ones stopped being shown at all. THE CARD NAMES THE SIDE OF THE STREET "On the south side of Gröna gatan, between Presidentgatan and Ekgatan" was reaching the app as "between Presidentgatan and Ekgatan". The side is back on 510 kerbs, so the app stops describing a stretch it does not actually govern. THE MAP IS OURS NOW The map is drawn from our own copy of Sweden instead of a third party's tiles, and it tells you when you leave the area it covers rather than going quietly blank. In satellite view the high-resolution Lantmäteriet imagery is no longer hidden behind the worldwide base layer, and the credit at the bottom now names the imagery you are actually looking at rather than both at once. SMALLER THINGS ON THE CARD The verdict has its own line again. The prohibition states its own hours. The ▾ that opens the payment options works. Tap targets that were too small to hit are the size they should be, and the map shows where a suggested spot actually is rather than only which pin it belongs to.
