### 3/5 — Not What We Hoped For

*2025-09-03, version 2.8.3*

Nice enough app, but there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to just look at a map of state and national parks and sites. The filter option groups local and state parks together, which leads to an overwhelming jumble of options instead of a manageable checklist. Even the map is so covered with local parks that it’s hard to find the state park symbols. If that were addressed and there was checklists of state and national parks and sites, it would be fantastic.

### 2/5 — Too many issues

*2023-10-01, version 2.4.1*

Great idea. However, it is next to impossible to click on a park that you have visited and add to your passport.

### 3/5 — Reset Password

*2022-12-11, version 2.3.0*

I am not able to locate an area to reset my password. Occasionally things occur and the need for a password reset is required. I am unable to locate anywhere on the app to reset a password.

I enjoyed using the app and reading about the parks but am now not able to get logged back in and need to reset my password.

If unable to reset than will simply trash the app.

Thanks.

### 2/5 — Badges

*2022-05-04, version 2.0.1*

There is no instructions on how to get badges. I tried to later put on a badge and it wouldn’t let me. I find this sight difficult to navigate. I also could not open any messages on the site. Also, could not upgrade to 2.0

### 3/5 — Photo upload

*2022-03-21, version 2.0.1*

Not able to upload photos of parks that I visited.

### 3/5 — I love the idea of this app BUT ...

*2021-02-15, version 1.4.0*

We travel a lot and we've been looking for an app like this one. We love the idea, but when we are trying to check in into a park, the app crashes. After doing it a few times and clicking on some of the menus, we do get lucky sometimes and can check in.

It also doesn't recognize all parks unfortunately. Today we were at the Desert Wildlife Refuge, which is a huge park in Nevada, but it was impossible to check in, it didn't recognize it as a park
An option to manually check in into a park would be great, and/or to manually add a park if it's not in the database

### 3/5 — New to App but has issues

*2021-01-11, version 1.4.0*

Downloaded the App but cannot see any parks shown when opening the the List.
Also when reading about each individual park, many of the descriptions are cut off at the bottom and there is no way to continue reading it.
Developer can you please look into theses issues?

**Developer response:** Hello, Nejinater! Thank you for reviewing the ParkPassport app. We have made significant updates in the app since January 2021. Parks descriptions have been fixed! We hope you will give the ParkPassport app another shot. If you are still having issues or have additional questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us at parkpassport@parktrust.org!

### 3/5 — Great but could use some adjusting

*2020-08-16, version 1.4.0*

Great tool for finding parks and more near you. It would be better if you could edit/delete visits, and if your badges were organized with the same headers as the filters on the search map. A filter to exclude previously visited sites would also be helpful for those looking to explore something new.

### 3/5 — Inconsistent park listings

*2020-06-28, version 1.3.3*

The concept of this app is great, and it has introduced me to parks nearby that I didn’t know where there. However, my local park is no longer listed (it was when I first downloaded the app) and it appears as though only a very small handful of the New York State parks are listed. I thought this would be a fun for the kids to earn badges as we went to places, but if most of the parks we will go aren’t listed it’s pointless. I wish there were a way to add a park to the list, if there is already I can’t find it.

And also the park search function could use some work, like searching by park name.

### 3/5 — State parks

*2020-06-15, version 1.3.3*

It won’t let me add all the state parks in Colorado, only some

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2020-05-24, version 1.3.3*

The app won’t let me search for a Park by name. It also doesn’t provide a link to the park’s website. It’s not nearly as useful as other apps I’ve used.

### 3/5 — User Friendly

*2020-05-22, version 1.3.3*

I am having a hard time finding what I saved for my next trip this weekend. I was trying to make plans for the trip now I have to start all over to plan my trip this weekend.

### 3/5 — Editing capabilities?

*2020-04-07, version 1.1.2*

Would love to see editing capabilities, for when I make a mistake inputting information on a park visit and badges earned, etc.

### 1/5 — Wants registration upfront

*2024-06-06, version 2.6.0*

I would like to look around the app before I give my email which will lead to my inbox being peppered with annoying and continuous emails. Deleted it.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2023-12-04, version 2.4.1*

I’ve had this app for over a year now, it won’t let me register a password, so I’ve never been able to enter it. The subject matter is of interest to me and the graphics seem good, but I’ve never been able to use it, though it was just a glitch at first but it’s been on going for over a year now.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2023-07-06, version 2.4.0*

I have now reset my password several time and it still says my username and password are incorrect.

### 1/5 — Can not register

*2022-07-02, version 2.1.0*

The app requires registration before you ca use it. But after filling out my info, the registration failed because “age group not in the list”. Not sure what that means and there was no info related to age in the registration. BTW I’m a grown-up.

### 1/5 — New Version is Horrific

*2022-01-08, version 2.0.1*

This app used to be the gold standard for finding parks and tracking which ones you have been to.

The new map is so glitchy and slow it’s basically unuseable. It also seems like certain features of the old version are simply no longer built in.

The official NPS app was my backup app before this but is now my go to, its a shame they mangled the system they had.

If it aint broke…..

### 1/5 — Something has changed

*2021-12-27, version 1.6.1*

This app was a few weeks ago the go-to app for National parks and monuments. But as of last week, it comes up with nothing. I’ve reinstalled and logged in and out but nothing has helped. When it back to its best, I’d rate this 5 stars. But now it is good for nothing.

### 1/5 — Missing locations

*2021-11-08, version 1.6.1*

No bristlecone National Park? No Giant Sequoia National Monument? I’m sure there more but come on…

### 1/5 — Glitches sometimes

*2021-09-12, version 1.6.1*

The app does not always find parks and glitches even when the cell service is good.

### 1/5 — Crashes

*2020-05-18, version 1.3.2*

Every time I try to record a visit to a national park with a virtual component the app crashes.

### 2/5 — Very rough around the edges

*2024-06-09, version 2.6.0*

A beta app, with promise. Idea is great. Some issues: Map interaction is very rough. Zooming around with fingers doesn’t work well. Searching for a park will bring you to the underlying map’s park location, not the app’s clickable park icon. Parks are crowdsourced, so you’ll find, for example, a “local” Joshua Tree National Park correctly located and the real, national one located at one of the entrances. Passport stamps require a date of visit and will default to the date you add the stamp. Why do you have to remember the exact date?? Nice idea though. I hope this app gets some real investment at some point.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great App!

*2024-09-06, version 2.6.2*

My wife and I love to camp in our national Parks & Forests. We once had the paper passport, but there were occasions when we forget to stamp and others when we simply forgot the book. This app makes it so easy and graphically fun to log one’s visits to our greatest natural resources!
Not only that, the customer service is fantastic! I was having issues, totally user fault, and Ivan was quick to respond and very helpful in explaining my mistakes!

### 5/5 — Well worth it!!

*2023-03-24, version 2.3.0*

Definitely plan to spend time - and sunset colors are amazing!

### 5/5 — Fixed! Yay!

*2022-07-07, version 2.2.0*

App is fixed! Was able to register with the new update! App is awesome! So much info…I love it!

### 5/5 — A Must Have App For Outdoor Enthusiasts

*2020-12-09, version 1.4.0*

I just wanted to send a message of THANK YOU!! For years I have looked for an app just like this one and have been so frustrated to have continually come up empty handed. To have every park listed in one place will be so helpful to our family. We hike a lot, several times a week and this app is going to be such a great addition to our planning. Thank you thank you for creating this app!

### 5/5 — National Park Trust

*2020-12-06, version 1.4.0*

The Park passport app is awesome when you want to make certain you know all the parks near you!! Thanks

### 5/5 — This is awesome!

*2019-05-17, version 1.0*

This app is so cool! I love that I can “compete” with other military families and try to get as many badges as possible. My kids are going to love watching their parks visits ad up. Thank you ;-)

### 5/5 — Fun App

*2019-05-17, version 1.0*

We just moved to a new place with the military. This is a great way to see all the cool places we can go explore as a family!

### 5/5 — Fun way to keep track of places visited and activities you’ve done

*2019-05-16, version 1.0*

I like the way you can earn badges at different locations, plus the ‘park finder’ is a great way to discover local and state parks you may not be aware of.

### 5/5 — Amazing!

*2019-05-16, version 1.0*

Such a great app! Love visiting the parks!

### 5/5 — Fun for families!

*2019-05-16, version 1.0*

What a great way to track activities for my kids at our local parks and discover new places when we travel! I can’t wait to see how many badges my kids will earn this summer.
