### 4/5 — Holy Smokes

*2023-05-28*

This game is so difficult dude, I started with 100 of the currency and didn’t even realize I lose it all if I die on any boss fight so I thought I started with zero, I basically had to beat both of the first bosses back to back, fun game. The shield boss needs polishing, I would personally make the terrain flat to fix most of the problems but also when he would go for his shield spin attack he would get hyper armor, which isn’t awful but I didn’t realize this until like the fifth attempt because I would stagger him and took double the damage. Idk how to hit the “goddess of the hunt”

### 4/5 — They are bosses but not really

*2022-05-29, version 4.6*

They do have much more health then you and attack you in different ways but there is no way to expect something like that on a first time playthrough. I haven’t even gotten to act 2 yet and I already think the bosses are too hard. You have way too little health for a FIRST ACT. Seriously balance this game a little bit or add some better practice mode because practice does not prepare you for any of the bosses.
Besides this however, this game is pretty good, but I wish the heart pop-up didn’t appear EVERY time I died. Good graphics and pixel style and great concept.
I’m kind of a trash can at this game I guess so that’s why I wish there was there changes.

### 3/5 — Needs more telegraphing

*2022-05-17, version 4.0*

The bosses need their attacks to be easier to see what attack they’re gonna do. Like mr sussy wussy when you go away from him he does a lunge attack and the only time I’m able to parry it is when I think it’s gonna happen instead of actually seeing it. Also mr sussy wussy sometimes adds more attacks to his combo and it’s hard to tell if he is done attacking so you can attack back or if he still isn’t done so you won’t get hit trying to attack him.

### 4/5 — Exactly what I was looking for!

*2022-05-16, version 4.0*

This is exactly the type of game I’ve wanted for my phone so that I can play a souls like on the go! Difficulty is definitely there but one gripe I have is that parry it’s so weak. For the act 1 boss you parry an attack and they just keep attacking. I was expecting a short stagger at least but it doesn’t really give you that at all. The game is still fun and I plan on trying to get some no hit runs.

### 3/5 — Amazing, unique but short game

*2022-04-23, version 3.0*

Normally, mobile games are extremely easy most of the time. It’s hard to come by something that is challenging, fun and fair at the same time.

I just so happened to stumble upon this gem. At first, I thought the whole claim about this game being a “souls” level of difficulty was just bait for someone to download and get bombarded by ads. Then I tried it and it was actually quite challenging. The bosses are fun and hard. The combat system is simple and easy to use. I think it’s got lots of potential.

Only reason I have this at 3 stars instead of more is the lack of content. There are only 3 bosses and one practice round. Once more things are added I’ll definitely be upping my rating. I look forward to what more this game could bring.

### 3/5 — Good foundation, bad balancing

*2022-04-15, version 3.0*

From what I have played so far, the first boss has way too much heath and his stamina never goes down. However due to the art style it is very hard to tell when the boss is going to hit you and it takes 5-8 hits to kill you. If you chain a combo you are left defenseless because you run out of stamina and it takes too long to regenerate it. Swiping to dodge makes you have to stop moving as you need to let go of the direction stick so dodge. It doesn’t help that dodging also takes up stamina. Overall good structure and looks fun but it isn’t fun to play due to being defenseless.

### 3/5 — could be amazing

*2022-04-06, version 3.0*

i’m not gonna lie, i almost left a nasty review after the first 10 or so minutes, but after like 40 attempts i beat sir sussy wussy, and i have a few observations and opinions. one, the art style/graphics does not match the gameplay at all. the pixel art with zero shading, causing anything the same color to look like a blob with zero dimension, makes reading attacks and even your own movements simply horrible. if the characters were stickmen or fortnite looking people, then the game would become much easier to follow. two, the stamina makes zero sense. sometimes i will attack for thirty seconds straight to stagger the guy, and my stamina will go down to 1/4, and other times three attacks equals an empty bar which equals death most of the time. i will say that the parrying is perfectly done and it was the most fun part of that fight. idk man it was fun but so many aspects of the game could use a lot of revamping or just some more attention. the idea of a minimal souls-like game on the phone is really amazing but the enemies should be the extremely hard part, not the visual effects and controls.

### 4/5 — Parrying is unrewarding

*2022-04-05, version 3.0*

Straight off the bat one of the main things I noticed about this game was that parrying was essentially useless. It didn't interrupt enemy attacks and only drained their stamina which regenerated quickly. I think it would be better if you could riposte after parries like in the souls games, or have a fatal attack when you fully drain their stamina like sekiro. Otherwise this is a great game.

### 3/5 — Has potential

*2022-03-29, version 3.0*

The controls are great and the fighting is somewhat fun, but there are some flaws that make it unfair

Telegraphing: attacks are poorly telegraphed, I can’t tell the difference between a single attack and a combo. Also at range it’s hard to tell the attacks, so it’s impossible to properly block

Stamina: the stamina is too small, you can either do 1-2 hits or suffer without stamina for a fight

Commitment: bosses need to commit to attacks more, the moment they go from attacking to being able to attack should be clear and easy to read. Currently they finish their attack and immediately go back to their slow walk phase

Combos: there shouldn’t be a combo that, if missed, should instakill the player. There are some attacks where if you screw up it’s game over, kinda also is an issue with the health pool being small too.

Blocking to attacking: allow us to go from holding block to attacking without letting go of the screen. I don’t see why I shouldn’t be able to attack out of a block.

All in all it’s a somewhat fun game, I enjoy it, but these issues hold it back

### 3/5 — Game is fun, but there are problems

*2022-03-29, version 3.0*

On one of the bosses, there is a combo where if the first attack hits, he stun locks you to death. The stun locking in the game is pretty bad as one hit from the boss will end with half your health gone making it basically 2 hits to die instead of 5. Other than that however, I think the game is pretty good and it exceed my expectations.
P.S. If you are new to the game, the third boss is the easiest to start with other than the practice one. It also helps you get better with parrying.

### 3/5 — Issues I’ve found with less than 10 minutes of play time

*2022-03-26, version 3.0*

First off I wish there was a choice of weapons because my attacks are very slow while the attacks of the bosses are very fast and much too powerful. It’s a cool looking game but it’s too hard and I only ever was able to get one or too hits off on the boss as-well as the boss recovers from the parry much too fast so it gives me no chance to land an attack and this I all coming from a dark souls player. Please take this into consideration and make some changes. I like the idea of the game but I don’t feel I could defeat the bosses at all

### 3/5 — Good in concept

*2022-03-25, version 3.0*

The difficulty would work if not for how hard it is to manage the small amount of stamina given. After hitting the enemy a few times and taking a bit of its health I’m completely out of stamina and cannot continue to fight it unless I make not a single mistake and parry every attack perfectly. It’s good in concept but the stamina is just far too little for it to work. The stamina is only fine in practice mode where you can create distance and the enemy won’t just shoot you or leap at you, but for everything else it’s just impossible to recover a meaningful enough amount of stamina with the enemy constantly on you.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Obviously not meant for mobile

*2022-09-15, version 6.5*

I mean the doge is just useless if it reads as a movement on the screen. By the time you see that you need to block the boss has already hit you before your character even registers that you hit the block button. The low health and slow stamina don’t help either, but even if you wanted to move away from the relentless attacks from the boss that you can block for 2 strikes. The boss will just barely touch you with the tip of the sword and you’re stunned and dead in two swings.

### 1/5 — USED TO BE GOOD NOW ITS HOT GARBAGE

*2022-08-07, version 5.6*

I used to love to play this game I put hours into mastering the controls then I come back to it and I see that that there are new stages so I start off with act 1 and they changed so much with the controls the joystick is to small there is a heart covering a lot of the screen you can jump for no reason cause you still get hit and the block has a delay. Not only that but after each death it asked if you want to watch a add with a very laggy option that is meant to trick you into watching one anyways over a very good game that got ruined

### 1/5 — Unenjoyable Gameplay and Mechanics

*2022-06-29, version 5.0*

The graphics are an interesting take on the souls-like series and if the game was made correctly, the style would be famous. However, the frame rate matched with the speed of the bosses makes the game awful to play. However this isn’t the reason it’s garbage. It seems no effort was put into the parry mechanic as someone of the soulsbourne genre would know that parrying should be rewarding. However parrying doesn’t award anything other than the stamina damage and feels useless as the boss will continue with the next attack regardless making it impossible to counterattack without being damaged or posture broken to the point where you just get combo’d to death without any recovery mechanism other than a jump which seems completely useless as it doesn’t work half the time and without a dedicated button it is a waste of time to give up movement to jump and still be hit

### 1/5 — Poor Mechanics

*2022-05-26, version 4.6*

The controls are probably the worst part of this game having to hold to parry/Block is a good way to make a lot of players hate this game a button or just tapping would be better. The jump mechanic is also pointless as the enemy will still always hit you, as well as even if you perfect a parry you will not throw the enemy off even though that is the point of a parry and with any combo attack by the enemy it’s pointless to try to parry anything but the first attack. Your player also takes forever to regain stamina along with the fact parrying doesn’t throw off the enemy’s combos attacks eats it up. Any enemy with a trust attack will give you maybe two frames to see it and your player takes too long to raise the sword to even respond.

I think this game isn’t that bad and has a lot of potential and how simple the game looks made me download it but the 64 bit Picture mixed with the extremely short attack time is a terrible mix.

### 1/5 — Very Bad Game

*2022-05-13, version 4.0*

Easily one of if not the worst mobile game i’ve ever played. Bosses give no breathing room, and once you are stunned once your dead cause your character gets stun locked. Also the visuals are hard to look at. Killed all of the bosses except the last one because it’s practically unbeatable. The attack you are supposed to jump over is too big and your character will still get hit unless you perfectly time it. Parrying is useless and far to difficult to use, and dodging is very inefficient as it doesn’t work half of the time. My character has blocked instead attacking a lot. Ads to heal? What a joke especially when the bosses do 1/4 of your health for every attack. Stamina regenerates far too slow aswell.

### 2/5 — Updated review

*2022-06-24, version 5.0*

As Play more of this game I start to see problems with it like the fact that the stamina bar takes too long to regenerate the moving stick is in the bottom left corner of my tablet making it impossible to move and the parry/block system is unresponsive slashing you’re sword takes a little too long the bosses gives you no time to breathe and jumping in this game is pointless like jumping in this game is not responsive and the controls are horrible like just make a jumping button and dodging button

### 2/5 — Frustrating

*2022-04-21, version 3.0*

This idea of this game is very interesting being it’s set in a 3D and almost 8 bit format but it’s just not fit for anyone looking to pick up a new game to play on the go.I understand the game not wanting to hold your hand but I don’t see how anyone who doesn’t sit on the game for hours, upon hours is supposed to progress. I’ve spent a considerable amount of time playing the game and the mechanics are very frustrating to understand when you have such a unpredictable AI system.I sincerely think the devs should at least add a better tutorial other than a one page of instructions

### 3/5 — Amazing concept, needs work

*2022-08-24, version 6.3*

This game has amazing mechanics with its dodges, parries, and counters. I do have nit picks, but they’re not too important when the game works. Of course, not all is great. Having finished the game, I realize there are some real flaws. At times, enemy attack animations do not have a start up and go off immediately. Other times, you can get hit when the animation hasn’t even played. Or other times, specifically with the shield boss, the hit box will hit multiple times. The game works, but not all the time. With some polish and variety, I know this game will be basically perfect. The game really is good and I loved it.

### 3/5 — Good concept, bad gameplay

*2022-06-18, version 5.0*

The game has an amazing concept, it’s personally pretty fun at first, but the gameplay is just frustrating to learn and use. The parrying in the game is slow and hard to learn at all. The first boss makes it almost impossible to enjoy the game at all. There is only one move that he choreographs to the player, which is his far away slash. If there was a way to signal when he was going to attack, like the soulsborne games, it would make 10x better. The sidesteps are practically useless and the stamina system is annoying. Your character is like glass and loses half his health to a single attack or all of it due to a stunlocking combo. I understand you can stunlock the boss too, but the boss has infinite stamina while i only have a couple swings.

Please use this as constructive criticism and not hate for the game!

### 3/5 — Better before the recent update

*2022-06-01, version 5.0*

I love the adding of more bosses, but post- update it seems that the parry/block button doesn’t work the same (or sometimes at all?), and the stun from being hit lasts much longer, meaning that if the boss starts a combo and hits you with the first attack they’re able to string together multiple hits that you can’t do anything about, which often kills you instantly. Bosses seem to do more damage and move faster.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Controller support

*2022-11-10, version 6.7*

This game is majorly fun. Just for it being a special mobile experience. The bosses give off elden ring or dark souls vibes. As much I like to say if I could use controller it would add a new ability to parry on my fingers and a controller. This would be a new experience as a reminder that I can parry anything if I try more!

### 5/5 — SOMETHING NEW!!!

*2022-09-22, version 6.5*

This game saved my life. I lived in poverty and had serval STD’s but when I downloaded this game it changed it all. I went from a nobody to somebody! I went from hoeless to pimping and all because it was different from other simple uncool games of the AppStore! I can say with certainty that if you learn from this game then you can achieve anything in life.

### 5/5 — Good. Really good.

*2022-09-02, version 6.5*

Very very very good, very fun, very hard, very rewarding. Every negative review here can be boiled down to “it’s too hard >:(“ because they’ve never played something other than a voodoo game. Controls are fun, hard to master, very engaging. Always keep you on your toes, can draw you in for hours. Regular updates too, and minimal adds, showing this is a passion project. Best souls-like I’ve see on mobile by far, keep up the good work.

### 5/5 — Hidden gem

*2022-05-23, version 4.6*

This game is actually super fun. The thing that I hate the most about mobile games is that everything is fed to you. But this game actually takes skill and repetition. You actually need to learn what moves the bosses will do and how to parry at the right time. I like the challenge. Although there is not much to the game yet. I downloaded the game about 8 hours ago and have beat all the bosses besides number 4 (which is super hard It’s gonna take awhile for me to beat him). But also I think this game would gain more downloads if the app icon was more appealing to the eye. But for me the only reason I downloaded or even clicked on this game was because the icon looked very old. There are a few issues tho. For example boss # 2 is too easy. You literally can just attack until the boss dies. His attacks are too slow for him to attack before you can back. Also he doesn’t try to dodge or run away. And with those slow attack they are very easy to predict. Please make him harder. But overall really cool game.

### 5/5 — I was wrong about mobile souls

*2022-05-07, version 3.0*

I downloaded this game as a joke, i thought it was going to be a wanna be souls game made for a school project, i played it, and with that mindset i got ruined by none other than sir sussy wussy, i was so dumbfounded, why couldn’t i parry? why was i always out of stamina? how to i avoid getting caught in his 7 hit combo for an instant death? at this point i went into practice. i had to simply git gud, and git gud i got, i went back, a changed man, equipped with a long sword, and ruined sir sussy wussy. i was prepared for dr chad. the first fight i wasn’t ready for his eagle move, i was destroyed, i went in again, and rolled through his eagle dash, hit him three times and retreated, i used his own power against him. i am prepared for act 3…i seriously do love this game tho it’s sick, really nice that the bosses can be beat by understanding their move set and changing ur play style, keep doing what you’re doing. so much potential here

### 5/5 — Finally

*2022-04-17, version 3.0*

A souls boss arena game i will pay money for you to continue this game. first boss was good nice design straight forward approach every mistake felt like your own just as its intended, but the other two especially the act three was a bit sloppy. Act two didn’t even need to be parried if you just back up wait for crouch then wait a second dodge and punish rinse repeat its an easy boss. If you fight him normally its a bit harder but he only really has a few moves and the act three just wasn’t a fight. I love the pixelated retro style or whatever you have here i think all you need to do is brush it up a tiny bit and add more content. I thank you for the experience and i will wait patiently for the upcoming bosses.

### 5/5 — This is genuinely, amazing.

*2022-04-15, version 3.0*

This is so fun. Ive beaten every boss and they actually take challenge and strategy, there is no possible way anyone would beat any of the acts without dying at least 10 times. I really like how every time you attempt it you slowly understand it more and you understand it better. It took me a week to beat act 3, week and a half for act 1 and maybe 2 days for act 2. You dont even need the healing hearts to beat them so you could not watch a single advertisement while playing this, pretty cool! The bosses are pretty difficult which I find enjoyable, you have to also time the blocks which is sorta difficult with act 1. Another thing is the Sound design and the visual effects, the sound design is actually really cool as I love how when you get hit theres the echo and the slashes of the blades just sound satisfying if you could understand. The mix of the retro with the really nice effects when blocking or parrys, or even the blood just looks cool. The game is definitely fun and im excited for act 4 :) Thank you I really appreciate the good game and for all you roamers on the app store, I definitely suggest this.

### 5/5 — It’s a really good souls concept

*2022-03-26, version 3.0*

Not gonna lie, it’s the first time I write a review. I’ve enjoyed Dark Souls here and there, and this definitely gives me a similar experience. It’s a challenging game where you’re gonna have to figure out each fights mechanics on your own before you can beat them. That’s not a bad thing, it’s a great thing. It makes me want to keep playing until I figure out how to get damage in without messing up. Again, it’s not an easy game, but it being a Souls inspired concept, it’s definitely doing it justice! Also did enjoy the visuals, a big change to the actual games and it’s simplicity allows phones to run it smoothly. Didn't find any glitches other than Dr. Chad getting up and fighting after beating him. Which I do believe has been addressed in a very recent update. Regardless, if you love Elden Ring or any Souls like game, give this one a download you won’t regret it. Excited to see the last Act of this game come out and what else you can do with it!

### 5/5 — parry

*2022-03-24, version 3.0*

sometimes I can counter attack after a parry but sometimes only after i drain the stamina or pose of a boss that’s the only bug i’ve found i mean sometimes the parry doesn’t show but you can still hear it but besides that it’s a pretty fire game and the games really not too hard just get good, but the new boss is a little unfair but i’ve beat him so not impossible.

### 5/5 — Super challenging and extremely fun

*2022-03-16, version 2.2*

This game is probably the most fun I had in a mobile game for a while. I’ve been playing it nonstop since I downloaded it. It’s really really hard but rewarding once u figure it out. I already know this game is about to be insane when it gets more updates and polishing.
