And it will mark the answer wrong even if you are technically correct. The immediate feedback takes guesswork out of the equation. This is the most useful app in my learning Greek toolbox. ### 4/5 — Great App but Shuts Down *2020-11-14, version 2.3* I paid for the app to help me with Greek study and it’s been very helpful, but it will occasionally shut down in the middle of exercises, which is annoying (iPad OS 14.2). I would welcome the option to review wrong answers at the end to learn from them, because I can’t remember wrong answers after parsing 100 words. If you are struggling to learn Greek this is the perfect app for review on the go. Lot’s of parsing action! It would be great if the app would rotate to landscape view for iPad. ### 3/5 — Many great features but many aggravations *2020-06-25, version 2.2.1* As another reviewer has said, I would send these concerns to the developer if there was a place for bug reporting, so call that a meta-bug. Another meta-bug is that there is no version information in the app so I have no way of knowing if I have the latest version, and there is no “update” feature in the app or on this page. How do we update? Bugs: there are parse errors, e.g., οιδασιν is listed as a perfect. More bothersome is that random presentations of more than one correct parsing accept only one of the solutions (this often comes up with AccSingMasc and Nom/AccPluralNeuter, e.g.). Answering the other one is marked “wrong.” Then when the word comes round again, it might be looking for the other solution. Or it might not, and the right solution must be guessed or it keeps coming back as a missed question. The case of multiple correct answers needs to be handled better. I also shut down for a while when I was being presented with questions that were outside the scope of my reading. I think participles might have popped up before I got there in my text. I am back to the app now, and bothering to write this review, because of the very useful feature of spanning verbal moods, e.g., indicative and participles. That is a tough skill for me, and I really appreciate ParseGreek’s help in learning it. I haven’t focused on the many great qualities of this app, but the drawbacks mentioned above have been pretty close to deal breakers for me. ### 5/5 — Good..but *2020-03-03, version 2.01* This is a great app. But it has a bug and this was the only way to share the bug. Hoping for an update soon. The bug is that I can only get so far in a vocabulary set with the show lexical form selected in the settings. But when you try to select the lexical form there is sometimes no list to choose from...or there might be one or two words to choose from but the correct one doesn’t show up.....or the option to choose the lexical form appears but there is no list at all. Of course you can’t go on. I have to restart the app. But I will continue running into the same problem. I’ve tried the coo on vocabulary set or the Black set or the Mounce set, up but I will run into the same problem at some point. Some times its only 26 or 30 entries into the quiz at other times it’s longer. But it will always stop me dead at some point. ### 5/5 — A must-have for anyone studying Koine *2020-02-24, version 2.0* Last version was really valuable, but wasn’t ideal on an iPhone (more iPad centric) and I had a few suggestions. Holy Cow, they reworked the iPhone UI, and incorporated some of my suggestions. Super responsive development team. And oh my gosh the new version is really user friendly and intuitive. If you are studying Greek and parsing, this tool is invaluable. Flashcards typically treat lexical forms but some verbs are just unrecognizable in their various forms. This helps you make sure you’re solid without making thousands of flashcards covering every form. Nice job and great update! ### 5/5 — So helpful! *2020-02-23, version 2.0* It is so convenient to work on my Greek on my phone! I can review anytime I want. The program is keyed to all of the top grammars so everyone can use this. I am very happy with it. The just updated the program and the interface is cleaner now. ### 3/5 — Cool app. One change needed *2019-07-31, version 1.1.5* Really helpful app. The problem is that once you have studied through a grammar, and you want general quizzes over the book, you have to check every single box. There needs to be an “all” box so that you can pick your grammar, and the check “all” and start studying. Also it would be nice if once you had picked your grammar it was set instead of having to set it every time you pick up the app. For me I have to set my grammar and then click like 30 boxes before I can get started and it’s defeating to even wanna pick it up. ### 5/5 — Get this app! *2019-01-17, version 1.1.5* I use Mounce and this app works perfectly with the chapters. I love that I can pull out my phone and work on Greek wherever I am. I can also confirm that the app does work in iOS 11 for me as well. Thanks again! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not well keyed to textbooks *2025-09-08, version 3.3* The premise of this app is that it’s supposed to be keyed to the textbook you’re using. When I selected my textbook and asked it to include the first nine chapters, I’m finding that the app doesn’t present the vocabulary and grammar matching my textbook. So for instance, words come up that are not included in the vocab lists for the chapters that I’ve selected. Also, for the parsing aspect, the app will present forms that have not yet been covered in the textbook in the chapters that I have selected. Like the aorist subjunctive was presented to me, but that is not yet covered in the first nine chapters, which was the range I selected. So the app isn’t delivering what it promised. It’s not automating the creation of flash cards for me. It’s presenting me with material I’m not yet ready for. So it’s not particularly useful. ### 1/5 — Very buggy - not worth $13 CAD *2024-10-01, version 3.1* I downloaded this app on the recommendation of my Greek professor with the hopes that it would help my studies. However, there are a number of bugs that make studying with it quite frustrating. For one, the recent section now contains 4 copies of the one textbook I’ve been using… it seems to add another copy each time I use the app. Secondly, the grammar and vocabulary pick lists seem to have an unpredictable affect on the cards that are actually presented to me. I have not yet learnt contract verbs, and have thus left the option unselected, however they continue to appear in my study sessions. On that note, the vocab/grammar selection are not at all intuitive, and I am suspicious that it is not at all working as intended. Regarding the UI, it is also riddled with bugs: the layout of the main menu will randomly change width such that I need to scroll horizontally; the recent textbook bug mentioned above; the hint button is sometimes clickable, sometimes not. Regarding improvements/features beyond the bug fixes aforementioned, it would be educationally beneficial to have the option of hiding the English translation of words so the student can practice recalling it. The ability to type in Greek to answer the lexical form portion of a card would also be beneficial. Now I understand that this is quite a harsh review, and I must say that I will likely continue using the app just as I have not found a better alternative as of yet. However, after having paid $13 CAD I was expecting a smooth user experience (at the least), and hoping for a feature rich application that would streamline my Greek learning experience. I am thoroughly disappointed to say that neither of these expectations have been met. I have a greek test tomorrow and now this 7 dollar app that I purchased doesn't work. If you can clarify (perhaps via email) what exactly you mean, that would be super helpful for future development. I do want to point out that the app does save a correct/incorrect count and can be accessed as a filter in the more options final menu. So, for instance, you can ask the app to not include words that you have answered correctly more than 5 times. If this last option is not something you knew about, then perhaps you’d consider modifying your rating. Hopefully the developer will address this. *** The developer let me know that you can use the filter to exclude certain words after getting them correct a user-defined number of times. In this way you can keep from having to do the same words over again if you can’t finish your current session. I have found them a great help and a must for learning Greek Grammar. Buy the bundle so you get the biggest bang for the buck. Highly recommended. ### 5/5 — Essential for Learning Koine Greek *2022-05-30, version 2.6* I wrote a review for Flash Greek, saying it was essential, but Parse Greek is even more vital. It’s the best way to move past needing to review paradigms in your head and internalize them so that you can read the NT with ease. I’ve had zero issues with the app personally; no glitches, no missing features. I use it daily for 5-10 minutes a day, and it really helps. I could not have passed my seminary NT Greek courses without this. I’m in Danny’s debt for the work he has done. Do yourself a favor a buy this app ### 5/5 — Great app for learning your paradigms *2022-03-05, version 2.6* This app is intuitive to use and full to the brim with content. What would make this even better would be being able to see example sentences of a given word when quizzed on it, so as to get a look at their senses and use as well.
