## What is Partner?

Most drum apps hand you a pile of exercises and hope you stick with them. Partner works the other way round: it remembers what you actually played, and builds around you.

At the heart of it is Riley, your practice partner. She remembers every session you log, the songs you're chasing, the tempos you've reached, the things that still feel hard, and she uses all of it to shape tomorrow's practice around what you did today rather than a plan pulled from thin air.

— HOW IT WORKS —
You start a session and just play. There's nothing to fill in before you begin, so you practise for as long as you've got and log things as you go: what you're working on, the tempo you reach, how it feels. When you finish, Riley reflects it all back in your own words, and after a few sessions she starts noticing the shape of your practice, where you're growing and where you've levelled off. She never nags, never scores you and never guilt-trips you for a missed day, because she's on your side, not on your case.

— WHAT RILEY REMEMBERS —
• What you worked on, and how it actually felt
• The tempos you've genuinely hit, never a made-up number
• Your breakthroughs, and the bits that still feel hard
• When you've sat at the same tempo for a couple of weeks
• Everything, so tomorrow's session is built from today's

— A PARTNER, NOT A COACH —
Riley doesn't drill you or hand you a lesson plan. She sits beside you, remembers what you did and reflects it back, so you're the one who decides what comes next. A hard session isn't a failure here, it's just part of it, and turning up at all is worth something on its own.

— BUILT BY A WORKING DRUM TEACHER —
Hi, I'm Harry. After six years of teaching I kept seeing the same thing: my students didn't need more practice time, they needed something beside them between lessons. Partner is the practice partner I always wished they had.

— WHO IT'S FOR —
Any drummer who wants to keep track of their practice and actually get somewhere with it. Whether you're going in circles and can't tell if you're improving, you're self-taught and have never had much direction, you're fitting practice around a busy life, or you're working toward an exam and want every session to count, Riley keeps the thread.

— TIERS —
LITE (free): your practice journal, session logging and Riley every third session.
PRO (£7.99/month, one month free): everything in Lite, plus Riley after every session and your full practice history. Pricing may vary by region.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 4.4.7 — 2026-09-02

The app has been improved with bug fixes and overall enhancements to boost its usability.
Got feedback? Head to Profile - Account - Feedback! We're always looking to improve the app for our users.

### 4.4.4 — 2026-08-29

Bugs squashed! This round fixes the microphone failing on the second section of a practice, and adds a tap-to-reconnect on the kit panel for when the connection goes quiet mid-session.

### 4.4.3 — 2026-08-26

– Away Mode –
• Away mode has been rebuilt and is now easier to find. It says what it does in one place instead of four, and coming back is a single tap. While it is on the app is completely silent, and the week you return no longer opens with a target you were away for.

– Ask Riley –
• Riley now listens better in Ask, no more wasted conversations.

– Studio –
• The studio now reads more cleanly and your kit connects more reliably. We have fixed a fews bugs including Bluetooth connection causing audio to not connect, the microphone failing to start mid-session, and MIDI-notes arriving late.

– Journey –
• You can now join two spellings of the same exercise into one row without ever correcting your spelling.

### 4.4.0 — 2026-08-14

TL;DR: Overall improvements made for happier practice!

The deets:
Journey is now rebuilt around what you're actually working on.

First, the grid of folders is gone - The Journey screen now shows what you've been playing lately and what's gone quiet, worked out from your own sessions, so you can always have what's important to you at the front of your mind.

Second, everything you've ever logged is now a simple search away and if you've ever typed the same exercises in two slightly different ways, you can now tell the app they're one thing. It never guesses at spelling and never changes a word you typed or said.

Studio - Electronic Kit Mapping
• China and stack cymbals were being ignored. They're not now!
• Your kit keeps sending MIDI while you're in a metronome app, backing track app and audio from embedded playbacks

### 4.3.0 — 2026-08-05

TL;DR
- New feature: Ask Riley
- New navigation bar and updated icons

For those wanting more
Ask Riley: some days you hit a wall and want to talk it through with something that already knows your practice. Now you can!

Riley reads your practice log and, when there is genuinely something worth saying, she says it: not what you already know, but the thing you had not put together. Then she offers a few ways to take it into tomorrow, you pick one, and it lands on your plan. If you need to say something else, you can too.

Ask Riley isn't your typical chat-bot. It's a one-time conversion that feeds a loop, and every new chat comes from playing.
If there is nothing worth deciding, she says so rather than inventing a problem.

Finally, the navigation is new too. It floats above the page now, and you can slide along it as well as tap.
