Text entered into credential fields are now exempted from auto correction and capitalization. ### 2.0.2 — 2015-08-03 Release notes pending. ### 2.0 — 2014-12-09 User Interface ----------------- The visual layout for all devices has been completely rebuilt. It remains very similar on iPhone devices, but the iPad now features a flexible layout and a quick bar. The quick bar has arrow controls that allow you to adjust the split between map and task pane sections. The new layout also allows you to view the task pane in portrait orientations. The quickbar also has buttons for Follow and Show Current Location. These provide quick access to those location services. Partner on iOS now remembers more of your settings. It remembers your current map position and zoom, and it remembers which mapsets you’ve enabled in the view tab. The selection pane is now scalable with pinch and spread gestures. Map Rendering ------------------ The rendering engine has been extensively reworked as well. Complex linetypes are now supported, and should closely match your linetypes in the Java Map Viewer. This includes translucent line colors and line widths less than 1 pixel. We improved text rendering, and fonts should look smoother and scale better. Map imagery, due to its size, is always challenging to render at the real-time speeds we expect from a Partner Map Viewer. We spent substantial time optimizing this feature and improving caching so that it works well even on older devices. Draw order is now configurable on a per-mapset basis. We’ve added a Performance panel with a large number of technical metrics. These can be used to fine-tune your maps for the best performance. Rendering performance in general has improved. Edition Management ------------------------ While map editions were available in Partner on iOS v1.8, we have added several improvements to make them more useful and secure. Separate timeouts can be configured in each edition to disable and/or delete maps after the given period. The timer resets at each update, but if a user is unable to update (due to removal or password change) then the software will disable or delete the map data on the device. You can configure fields in the Map Publisher as sensitive, and then configure editions to blank those fields out during the iOS map conversion and posting process. All of these features require an upgrade and some configuration of your Map Publisher. Navigation ------------- Navigation and location services are now easier to use due to the quickbar. We’ve changed the locator symbol to improve its visibility on map imagery, and also made some improvements to the way the direction of the locator symbol is determined. At speeds less than 10 MPH, we use the compass direction on devices that support it. At speeds over 10 MPH, we instead use the direction of travel. When the device is plugged into power, we use the highest accuracy mode for determining location. Infrastructure Improvements --------------------------------- Under the hood, Partner on iOS now supports dynamic map applications using the Partner v5 Haversack framework. The first of these will be Mobile Outage, which will be supported on iOS along with Java when that product is launched. Other Partner applications and support for custom applications will follow in later releases. Several improvements have been made to Update, including automatically purging mapsets that aren’t in the currently configured edition. Estimates of storage requirements are more accurate and a warning will appear if your device has insufficient storage for an update. System Requirements -------------------------- Partner on iOS now requires version 7.1 or higher of Apple iOS, and a device compatible with that version. See the document “Partner on iOS v2.0 System Requirements” for full details. ### 1.8.2 — 2013-10-24 This is a major release of Partner on iOS, with many improvements and new features. We have substantially redesigned the user interface for better usability and to unify the experience on Apple iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch devices. The map view now supports raster map backgrounds, such as aerial, satellite, and topographic imagery. As with the vector map support, all imagery is stored on the device and runs even when disconnected from both wifi and cellular networks. The update system is dramatically improved. Customers can now have multiple "editions" that provide tailored maps for different groups of users such as employees or contractors. Mapsets are packaged, updated and managed individually, which should reduce update times overall and allow frequent publishing and update of small mapsets. Large mapsets such as raster maps are handled specifically to avoid problems with long download times, and users can decide whether on not to install them at all. Storage used displays, download time estimates, an uninstall tool, and other features increase usability and control. There is now a View tab, which allows the user to turn each mapset on and off in the map view. It also provides two mode switches - one for Night View and one for Large Print. Data selection and the Data tab are both improved, with selected items listed and grouped by data type. Line styles now support thickness as well as color. Selected lines now highlight correctly. This release requires version 6.1 or later of Apple iOS, and therefore only works on devices that support version 6.1 or later. Unfortunately, this means that we can no longer support the first-generation iPad. It is compatible with and has been tested on Apple iOS version 7 and the iPhone 5s. Version 1.8 is backwards compatible with mapset configurations for version 1.6 and should work without any changes to your setup. However, some of the above features require configuration changes and newer versions of the publisher support tools to implement. These include: * raster map image support, * individual mapset packaging, * selected line highlighting, and * multiple editions.
