Bei der Smartphone App fehlt mir eine zusätzliche Passworteingabe beim Starten der App.Ein Passwort muss ich bei der Desktopvariante ja auch eingeben. Irgendwie will ich mich rein gefühlsmäßig nicht darauf verlassen, das die Touch-ID oder mein iPhone-Passwort ausreichen. Immerhin befinden sich meine Daten im Klartext auf dem iPhone und sind nach Start der App dann für jeden lesbar.Ich habe den Pastor-Reader auf meinem iPhone wieder gelöscht. Schade. ### 3/5 — Inutile senza protezione password. *2015-01-02, version 1.0.1* Fatta bene e funzionale come la versione desktop ma ovviamente inutile senza alcuna protezione password per l'app. Sarebbe un must-have con un piccolo aggiornamento. ### 3/5 — Ironically, it needs a password *2014-04-16* I love the desktop app, so I was pleased to find the iPhone version. Pros: Inexpensive, simple, easy to use. Cons: Ironically, it needs to have better security. No password is currently required when you open the app. Secondly, you currently have to export a file from the desktop app and manually sync it with iTunes in order to give the iOS app access to the data. It would be great if there were some way that the iOS and desktop app could sync with themselves. ### 2/5 — Risky *2013-08-17, version 1.0* The app doesn't ask for a passcode to open. So anyone can have access to all your pass codes ! So I had no choice to erase the .tsv file from my iPad. Too risky. Previously, I'd export a text file out of the Pastor desktop app, re-format, and save as an encrypted PDF in Pages so I could have a way to look up some long forgotten login. When I saw the iOS version, I was so excited, I didn't read the reviews highlighting the lack of security. To the Developer, please at security feature to app. I completely rely on Pastor on my Mac and would like an iPhone versionI can trust too. I'd even pay for an upgrade with fixed password and no strict naming convention for tsv file on import. Thanks for the effort so far though! ### 1/5 — Grande déception *2012-10-22* Je suis un fan de pastor pour Mac. J'ai donné une contribution à son auteur car je trouve l'appli super. Mais alors la version iPhone quelle déception !!! Il n'y a même pas de mot de passé pour lancer l'appli. Quiconque emprunte votre iPad ou iPhone peut lire TOUT vos mots de passe. Quant à la synchronisation de votre fichier Pastor, oubliez-là. C'est après des mois et des mois d'attente le minimum syndical. Immense déception. Espérons que les MAJ corrigeront les carences les plus inexcusables comme le mot de passe au lancement... ### 2/5 — A real let down, but they can fix it! *2012-08-18* I have used Pastor on the Mac for years and love it, I will continue to use it. That is why I paid the $1.99 and downloaded this as soon as I saw it was available. Sadly, I will not be using it on my iPhone yet, the lack of encryption on the phone itself is a large drawback. If I lost my phone, the 4 digit lock code on the phone would be easy to crack and then all of my Pastor data would be out there for anyone to see. If this app did have the proper security, I would use it, but it needs to be updated on all devices as it changes. Dropbox integration would be perfect. Due to the fact that the desktop version is fully encrypted, I keep the file in my Dropbox and can always access the most up to date version from any of my devices. My suggestion to the developers, allow this app to open standard desktop Pastor files that are stored in the cloud (Dropbox is great) and that should fix your encryption problem and allow users to access the same data as is stored on their desktops at any time. I look forward to the updated version that I can actually use. Please keep working on it, I will get my whole family and many of my friends to purchase it once it is ready for mainstream. ### 3/5 — Want to have Pastor data on my iPad, but... *2012-08-17* I, too, am a huge fan of Pastor on my Mac. And like those who have expressed their happiness that Pastor Reader exists for their iPad/iPhone, that this app does not employ password of its own to the access the sensitive data inside, is its BIG shortcoming. Please Markus, give Pastor Reader solid password protection for launch capability ASAP! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Cannot actually read a Pastor file *2016-04-14* I have my Pastor file in Dropbox for easy sharing between devices, but this app cannot actually read a Pastor file. You could do an export from Pastor (required for this app) and just save the export in Dropbox and just look at it with a text viewer. No security with this app. ### 1/5 — Still no iCloud functionality! *2015-07-23, version 1.0.1* Please create an app that syncs the database via iCloud!! ### 1/5 — Keine Sicherheiten Passwörter *2015-05-31* Dies hier ist nur ein Reader, Wie hier mit Passwörtern umgegangen wird kann nicht gefallen. Ich werde mich dem vorherigen Urteil von „Dietzenbacher“ anschliessen und mir für die Zukunft lieber ein anderes Programm zulegen. So nicht! ### 1/5 — Kennwörter sichern OHNE Passwortschutz beim Zugang zur App?! *2014-05-30* Ich bin langjähriger Nutzer der Desktop-Verion des „Pastor“, einer Donate-Ware zur zentralen Speicherung von Passwörtern. Über die Jahre sammeln sich zahlreiche Accounts und entsprechende Passwörter an, die man sich kaum mehr merken kann, will man denn die Übersicht behalten. In Pastor für Mac kann man alle Passwörter, URLs, zu denen Sie gehören, und die entsprechenden Sicherheitsfragen („Name des ersten Haustieres“ etc.) komfortabel speichern. Warum also nicht auch alle Passwörter komfortabel in einer dazugehörigen App im iPhone speichern? Ganz einfach aus DEM Grunde, dass der Zugriff auf die Pastor App NICHT mit einem Passwort geschützt wird! Ich traute meinen Augen nicht, als ich die Passwörter vom Mac auf die App übertrug (was sehr einfach ist), und die App zum ersten Mal öffnete. Schwups, da werden auch schon alle Passwörter in all Ihrer Pracht angezeigt! Säuberlich sortiert nach Apple-ID, amazon.de, und was man sonst noch so alles hat. Im Grunde ist die App nicht mehr als eine Darstellung einer Textdatei, in der die Passwörter auf das iPhone übertragen wurden. Systemeinstellungen der App? Fehlanzeige. Die gibt es schlichtweg nicht! Weder in der App, noch sind App- Einstellungen in „Einstellungen“ zu ändern. Für mich ist die App eine herbe Enttäuschung, da 1,79 € schlichtweg zu viel Geld ist für eine ungesicherte App, die superwichtige Daten wie Passwörter bereithalten soll. Genauso gut kann man seine Passwörter in der „Notizen“-App speichern, die bietet genau soviel Sicherheit vor Fremdzugriff - nämlich keinen. Ich bin ehrlich gesagt fast schockiert, wie lax hier mit vertraulichen Daten umgegangen wird. Ich werde nicht nur die App löschen, sondern mich auch generell um eine andere Lösung der Passwortspeicherung bemühen. ### 1/5 — Where is the password?! *2013-12-24* An app of this kind MUST be more secure. I know that is only a reader, but it would be great if we could add and edit information in it. So, I’m not a developer, but I think the Pastor app could open an Pastor file natively… (.pastor) I won’t delete this app from my iphone because I hope you gonna fix it! tnks ### 1/5 — Déception... *2013-11-11* J'ai acheté l'app étant un fervent utilisateur de l'appli mac. La synchro via l'export fichier depuis l'appli mac passe encore. Par contre aucun mot de passe ou de cryptage pour protéger l'app sur iphone ou ipad ! L'auteur présente sur son site une explication à ce sujet mais j'ai du mal à y adhérer. Dommage… J'hésite de fait à passer sur une autre application me permettant une synchro et une sécurité sur ipad et iphone tout en assurant un lien sur mac. ### 1/5 — DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THIS!! IMHO *2013-04-05* I have discussed this with the developer. The security that is used is based on the user using the Apple passcode security for the device. While this is good security for the device, once access is gained or if one chooses not to use the Apple passcode security, then data is wide open for anyone to have access. All this app does is open a cleartext document in a readable fashion. Here is how one must use the app. D/L passport reader from the iTunes store. $1.99 cost. Open pastor on the mac d/t, open your pastor file, do a "save as clear text". Save the file to the d/t as pastorexport.tsv. Open iTunes, click on the apps tab, go down to the sharing section, highlight pastor, then click on add, navigate to the .tsv file you saved on the d/t, sync your device with the mac, you must be connected with the cable. Go to the pastor reader app on the device, click on it and you should be able to read the data. Now for the really poor part. You can only make changes in the mac pastor version. Then guess what. You get to start all over again by saving as clear text, opening iTunes, do all the steps as before. You must do this every time there is a change to your pastor data. What is needed is an actual iOS version of the d/t version so you get access to the same pastor file as the mac app version does. I use dropbox which works great with the mac version and my mac mini and MBP. I was wanting a version for the iPhone that does the same thing, but what is offered is cripple ware. It’s been totally updated - it’s fabulous! *2020-07-26* Pastor was my go-to for passwords and sensitive data for many years on my MBP. Markus added an iOS version, which was handy, but you could still only enter or edit on the Mac. When he stopped supporting the desktop version I was very disappointed. But recently I discovered he was reworking and updating it for iOS, and I was lucky enough to be a Beta Tester. It’s now out of Beta, and it is fabulous!! Better than it ever was before. You can add new items, edit and revise current items, and do everything you need to do, without a bunch of features you don’t need. I have zero complaints, which is unusual for me (smile). Pastor for iOS is 100% awesome, and I highly recommend it. It’s been my go-to app for holding my passwords, as it’s easy, convenient and simple to use. I was pretty surprised to see the mobile app, so I decided to give it a try and it’s been great so far! Like the desktop app, it’s super simple to use. I do agree with JTdesign that the security on the app is none. You can open it just like Safari or iMessage…no password needed, which is a little counterintuitive. Since I downloaded the mobile app, I changed the password on my iPhone lock to 18 characters, so no one should be able to get into my phone and access these passwords. Improvements - make it wireless. Every time you make a change or add a password on the desktop app, you have to plug in your phone and sync it with the mobile version in order to update it. I would also recommend being able to use the mobile version to add passwords. Right now, you can only add passwords on the desktop version, not the mobile version. I still love the app, but there are a few improvements that should be made. I build my password collection using companion Mac app Pastor (donation ware, making £1.49 price of this app ok.) Pastor functions well but starting to look and feel a little dated in Mavericks.
