About

Paternal is a field guide for dads. It covers the whole arc — trying to conceive, the pregnancy, and the first two years. It tells you what's happening, gives you tools to do something useful, and keeps track of the moments that matter. PREGNANCY - Contraction timer: You'll open this once. The 5/1/1 guideline is built in. You'll know when it's time to go to the hospital. - Kick counter: Count movements in the third trimester. - Safety lookup: Food, medication, activity. Is it safe? Search it. You're standing in a grocery aisle at 8pm wondering if that cheese is okay. This is for that moment. - Symptom log: Track how she's feeling and save questions for the next appointment before they evaporate by Thursday. She'll appreciate this more than you expect. - Weekly updates: What's happening this week, written for you. Not about your shared journey. About what's actually going on and what your job is. Those are different things. - Appointment timeline: What happens at the 20-week scan. Whether you're supposed to be there. Now you can't say you didn't know. - Birth plan: A one-page worksheet covering pain relief, who's in the room, and delivery preferences. Export it. Print it. Hand it to the hospital. Done. AFTER THE BABY We've got content all the way through your baby's second birthday, with new insights every month: - Feeding log: Left, right, bottle, or pump. Two taps. Logged with a timestamp you will need more than you currently think you will. Built to work at 3am with one hand because that's when you'll be using it. - Diaper log: You'll understand why this matters during week two. - Is this normal? Every month from birth through month twenty-four has a list of things dads Google at that age that turn out to be completely normal. Now you know before you spiral. - Newborn safety: Safe sleep, car seats, fevers, when to call the pediatrician. The 3am reference that is not a parenting forum. - Developmental milestones: Month by month, through two years. What's happening, what's coming next, and what to watch for. - Pediatric appointments: What happens at each visit, which vaccines are due, and what the pediatrician is actually checking. Through the two-year well-child visit. Now you can ask a real question instead of nodding. - Journal: Write it down. First steps, first words, the moments you'll want to remember in ten years. Add a date and a milestone tag. It stays in the app. FREE. PERMANENTLY. Contraction timer, kick counter, feeding log, diaper log, safety lookup, symptom log, newborn reference guide. No trial, no subscription. PATERNAL+ The full experience, unlocked. - Complete article library — every trimester, every topic - Appointment intelligence — questions to ask before each visit and what each appointment actually covers - Weekly journal prompts tied to where you are in the pregnancy - Partner check-ins — one question for each of you, once a week, for when you only talk about logistics - Growth tracking — log measurements from scans and see how the baby is trending - Kick counter trends — average time to ten movements, tracked over time so you know what's normal for this baby - Contraction session history — every session saved, with timing patterns across them - Feeding analytics — average intervals, session counts, and what's actually normal for your baby - Birth plan assist — answer plain-language questions and get a formatted plan. The basic form stays free. - Baby names shortlist — swipe through names, keep a shared list, watch her veto most of them - All four size comparison packs for the weekly updates - Symptom log history beyond seven days Paternal was built for dads. But you might be the partner reading this, deciding whether to send it to him. You should. Terms of Use: https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/

What's New in Paternal

1.01

September 5, 2026

A lot has changed since 1.0. New tools for Paternal+ subscribers: Eight new features are now live: kick counter trends (average time to ten movements, tracked over time), contraction session history, appointment prep with questions to ask before each visit, weekly journal prompts tied to where you are in the pregnancy, partner check-ins (one question for each of you, once a week), growth tracking for scan measurements, feeding analytics, and a guided birth plan builder. These are in addition to everything already included. A full diagnoses section: If your provider has shared a prenatal or postnatal diagnosis — Down syndrome, Trisomy 18 or 13, FASD, spina bifida, congenital heart defect, DiGeorge syndrome, Turner syndrome, Fragile X, or a twin pregnancy — there is now a dedicated section in the app written specifically for dads. Plain language, accurate information, and a direct note from us if you need someone to talk to. Three new library articles: Breastfeeding and what the partner actually does. Newborn warning signs in week one (written for 3am, not for when you can think clearly). And one on pregnancy loss — for the dad who has been through it, what it means, what you might feel, and what actually helps. Better safety and appointment content: The herbal tea entry in safety lookup now names the specific herbs with documented risks. A NIPT/CVS entry has been added to the prenatal appointment timeline at week 10. The used car seat note now explains why a seat that looks fine can still be unsafe. New icon: You'll notice it. Settings navigation fixed: If you were getting stuck after visiting Settings, that's resolved.
