Sadly, occasionally you feel the need to write one when you feel a product is clearly not up to specifications....this is one such product, in every way. Clearly designed from a Droid perspective, the menu system itself (indeed the entire MMI--Man-Machine-Interface) has a dated feel to it and looks very antiquated. I wonder how Apple even let this in the store...it does NOT follow the Apple Style Guide in many, many aspects. Want to see? Just open the Help file and you'll see what I mean. An ability to contact the developers? Not imbedded, you'll have to go to their web page to get that. It simply in no way follows an Apple experience, it is an Android experience from front to back. Now about contacting the developers....good luck with that one. I had an issue on this program and sent an email....ZERO response. Not even a reply email that my email had been received. Conversely, I contacted GAIA GPS the same day with an issue and not only received a response back to indicate that they had received my email, I had an answer back in two hours. Not that this is a bad program/app per se....if you're a total map head that has in investment in custom maps, this seems to be a willing program to import and work on those maps. But as a simple, Apple-ish experience of using your iPad or iPhone as a true mapping device if falls far, far short of GAIA and others. Add to it, it's ridiculously expensive. I spent US $29.99 on a program that isn't as capable as its peers. Many comments on here point you to their website and mention how old the posts are. They are for the most part except for the PROBLEMS which are VERY current. Highly, highly NOT recommended. Save your money and look elsewhere for your GPS needs ### 1/5 — Too complicated *2014-05-09, version 5.78.04* I was looking for a simple trip tracker for kayaking and while this "might" be a good app for other purposes, it's a little too complicated and buggy for my uses... Granted, I didn't read the manual and, in their defence, when I emailed the company for help, they did reply within 1 day (which is cool) I ultimately found a better app for my use (from Navionics) that works better, doesn't crash and is easier to use without detailed reading required ### 4/5 — Excellent for military *2012-09-28* Simply the best outdoor software, only lacks two things: is confuse to use and when you import your own map it doesnt locate very correctly, but even this, is the only one that can do it. The price should be better too. ### 2/5 — Work in progress *2011-06-13* Pathway used to be the best GPS type app on the Palm PDAs. What was great was the ability to create your own mapping and carry it with you into the field. It could connect to my Garmin GPS and transfer tracks, routes and waypoints, something the iPhone still can't do. Five or six years on things have moved forward, but sadly Pathaway has not. Getting my old maps into the iPhone was a nightmare. It just doesn't work very well at all and I gave up. The maps I managed to transfer scroll and zoom very poorly and inconsistently. All of the other GPS features are much better done by more modern iPhone GPS apps. The menu system seems to be unfinished, there doesn't seem to be a back button, only exit back to the beginning. Graphics are also very dated. This is quite shocking considering what I paid for the app. Contrast this app with something like UK Map which has free access to top quality OS mapping with a beautifully clear and simple interface with smooth zooming and scrolling. I cannot recommend this app at it's present state of development. It feels like an alpha release. ### 5/5 — Only GPS App you will need for the backcountry! *2011-01-26, version 5.50.04* This is it...the only GPS app you will need for backcountry activities like cycling, sailing, hiking, or anything else that takes you off the beaten track! Pathaway has been a full featured favourite on Palm and Pocket PCs for years and is finally available on the iPhone. I've tried other hiking and biking apps but nothing comes close to Pathaway for versatility. I love the ability to create and import custom maps which show all the detail I need to create routes and navigate on the fly. Routes can be as simple or complex as I want or need. Maps showing different features and levels of detail can be layered on top of each other. Custom dashboards display realtime tracking and navigation information.
