It’s both a card strategy game, a deck building game (as you gain loot you get better equipment), and character leveling game (as you gain experience). Despite other reviews, you don’t need micro transactions and I haven’t paid for any. It’s not needed. At first this game is challenging, but as long as you read your cards, know your characters, and read locations, it becomes easier. The game play is mediocre The help/glossary is worse than useless (e.g. a description of “you are unlikely to get the card back” is completely worthless. I want to know the mechanics of what happens to my card, where does it go, etc, so that I can make an informed judgment on whether to play it or not.) A number of cards have errors, both typographical and functional, QA is poor. I have played from six hours and the game is so unfair and unbalanced it is ridiculous. I played during a two hour stretch and not one roll succeeded for two hours! The game says that a char with deck will do well in the are but then it’s nothing but isn’t checks non stop. Claims it’s a difficulty eight to beat a monster I roll a 22 and it fails. This game is the worst I have ever played on the App Store and that says something. Based on the suggestions from the previous comments, I connected the mobile game with the steam and get both the game and DLC from the steam at a great deal. The reason why I am interested in the game is because I am playing pillars of eternity and other pathfinder video games at the same time. To be honest, the combat experience of this card game is somehow competitive to the more complicated video game, and after getting more powerful cards and feats by progressing the game, it really pushing you to play longer and deeper in this game. The good part of this game is it can be playing for free, or at least one-time purchase at a low price, and the experience is worth the cost. The downside of this game is a little minor bugs, like occasionally frozen. The 10 reserve card positions is far from pleasant.
