## What is Patoosa?

Patoosa turns your daily step count into a race against your friends.

Your steps come straight from Apple Health, so nothing is invented. Walk more and your little character moves further up the street. Slack off and you get to watch everyone else pull ahead.

Then, of course, you can cheat.

RACE YOUR FRIENDS
Start a crew, share one invite code, and everyone lines up on the same road. Every evening at 21:00 the person who walked furthest takes the day.

SABOTAGE IS ENCOURAGED
Bonk the leader with a bat and knock them back 750 steps. Fire a rocket to launch yourself forward. Throw a banana - but be careful, half the time it slips and helps the person you threw it at.

Power-ups only move you around the track. Your real step count is always exactly what you walked.

MAKE A PATOOSA THAT LOOKS LIKE YOU
Four bodies and a growing pile of hats, glasses and outfits. Earn coins by walking, or grab a pack if you are impatient.

WATCH THE WHOLE RACE
The mini-map shows every runner's position at a glance. Drag it to follow the action up and down the street.

Patoosa is better with friends. It is a race, after all.

---

Patoosa reads step count from Apple Health and never writes to it. Your steps are only ever visible to the friends in your crew - never sold, never shared with advertisers.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.4.0 — 2026-08-27

Double steps, and a shop that finally takes your coins.

• x2 challenges — every so often a window opens where steps count double, triple, more. A countdown sits under your step count while it runs, and if you have notifications on, your phone tells you the moment it starts.

• Notifications — a switch in your profile. Hear when the lead changes in your crew, and when somebody throws something at you. Off until you turn it on.

• Power-ups for coins — the Shop now sells bats, bananas, shields and rockets for the coins you win by racing, instead of only in packs. Bananas are cheap for a reason: they are a coin flip, and half the time they help the person you threw one at.

• Fixed: the crew rank badge showed your best crew's position no matter which crew you were looking at.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-08-26

Crew battles are here.

• Crew battles — every crew ranked by today's steps. Your crew's rank now sits right on the race, and the full board is one tap away.
• Live activity — see who has been throwing what. Bats, rockets and bananas now show up under the race as they happen, including the ones that get blocked or backfire.
• Background step sync — your steps can now reach the race while the app is closed, so a day you walked still counts even if you never opened Patoosa before midnight.

Plus a fix for a feed that was refreshing far more often than it needed to.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-08-23

Three crews at once.

• You can now be in up to three crews — the work one, the family one, and whatever your friends are up to. Entering a code adds a crew instead of replacing the one you were already in.
• Tap your crew's name on the race screen to switch between them.
• The crew screen holds all three, each with its own invite code, daily goal and members.
• You can still only run one crew of your own.
• Fixed: the step count could shrink away to nothing on some phones.
• Fixed: the "Today" box on your profile was showing your best day ever rather than today. It says Best day now.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-08-21

Nobody hides behind anybody any more.

• When your crew's step counts were close, your patoosas stacked on top of each other and a friend could vanish completely. Everyone stands clear now, and the whole crew fits on screen.
• Crew owners can set the daily goal, from 6,000 to 20,000 steps.
• The day ends at midnight — and the countdown finally says so. It used to announce results at 21:00 while the race was still running.
• The week strip names the winner of each day.
• Your weekly chart put your steps under the wrong day on any day except Sunday. Fixed, and it now shows the numbers too.
• A tidier crew screen and a clearer profile.
