I don’t think this is supported anymore which is too bad. With some updates this would be a great app (think undo button). I would suggest making it so that when you press on a color the color wheel doesn’t pop up (it makes it tedious to switch between colors quickly which I do a lot when making beading patterns) I would also suggest adding more colors options to the menu. I have a lot of bead colors and it would be awesome to be able to switch between colors easily. Would love to have a circular chart option. Please don’t abandon this! ### 4/5 — Very Useful For My Beading and Knitting Designs *2018-01-28* This app has been fantastically useful for precisely designing my own patterns for peyote stitch beadwork and for designing my own fair isle knitting patterns. It has a few drawbacks - (1) any design file can use only about ten colors, (2) it is not possible to draw a box to select a block of cells, and (3) each time I switch from one pallet color to another, the color-picker toolbox opens. That aside, this app is delightful! Choose rectangles if you are working with Delica beads; choose brick or quadrangle; any color you can imagine is available, and you can add knitting/crochet symbols over color patterns. The grid is 100 x 100 and you can even highlight a row or column to mark your place as you work from your pattern. Would like to be able to insert rows when creating a chart though ### 4/5 — Excellent for colour charting *2016-06-17, version 2.8.1* The best colour charting app I've used and adequate for lace charts but lacking in the symbols. I really want cable symbols that stretch over multiple stitches! I've had no issues saving the charts, I've never had part of the image cut off. Very good app just needs a few extra things to make it perfect. ### 4/5 — Nice Little App *2016-02-08* I knit and I do bead weaving and chose this app to design some earrings. I like that the toggle bead mode is available for this especially for brick stitch. I would say it is perfect for me for knitting patterns and less complex beading patterns as the palette is limited. The app creator Stefan has been awesome with quick feedback response and help!! This is a nice little app. As a technical writer, I would like to see more in the How to use app area, but luckily, Stefan is willing to help. And I have been using it steadily for the last day or so and no crashes. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Not Useful!! *2020-10-18* Doesn’t help with beading, disappointed I had to spend money on this app. ### 1/5 — I don’t like it *2020-05-29* I want my money back! I can’t even add my own images to bead! ### 1/5 — Disappointing *2019-01-31* This is useless for any crochet involving increases or multiple sizes of stitches. The crochet stitches are displayed identically, each taking one box when a chain stitch and a treble crochet popcorn aren’t remotely the same size. This may be useful for knitting, but I already have a more user friendly knitting app (knitting chart). I wish I could get my money back. ### 1/5 — No demo, app not what I was hoping for *2018-04-06* You can change the color, and stitch symbol on a tappable sheet of squares. Changing the symbol does not change the length of the stitch, so there’s definitely no way to see what it will actually look like stitched out. It doesn’t give you a rendering of what it would look like stitched up or anything like that. Very simple, barebones app. Could have used excel, sheets, drawn it up in a table on docs, or drawn it out on paper. Definitely wish I hadn’t spent $3.99! ### 1/5 — Really frustrating to use *2017-02-25, version 2.8.2* This lacks the usability that I'd expect for a paid app: swapping colours is frustrating as you have to confirm every time; zooming is clunky and often leads to ruining your work ; there is no undo and no way to easily export to the phone. Really disappointed ### 2/5 — Glitchy and will lose your progress *2023-01-26* The app is a bit simple but would be fine for the price but it keeps randomly closing out on me. Even when I saved I lose some parts of the design. It’s impossible to use when the app keeps closing every 5 seconds. Would also love to see a fill tool for filling backgrounds. If the glitchiness gets fixed it the app would be fine and worth the price, but without that it doesn’t function. ### 2/5 — Good effort, not quite there yet *2017-02-15* I love the idea. However.. 1. To copy and paste a repeating section of your pattern, you literally have to click every single square to select it, which is extremely time consuming. You need a "grab" function for users to draw around the multiple squares they would like to copy. 2. There are no stitch labels to indicate what type of stitch you are drawing. This app won't help you write patterns without any standard stitch labels. Is it a crochet pattern? Knitting? Beads? Is this a single crochet stitch or a knit stitch or a purl? 3. The color selection panel is painful. It needs a quick select function. Every single time you want to change colors, it bops up and asks you to refine the color you want, also wasting time.... ### 2/5 — Just Ok *2016-05-12, version 2.8.1* Pretty good for designing the actual pattern but terrible once you're done and want to use it. Tried to open with iBooks and half gets cut off, tried saving as a picture and the same happened. Turned out to be a waste of money. ### 2/5 — Not too functional *2016-02-12, version 2.8.1* I need to do crochet charts and this seemed to be it. It has symbols ... YAY! But little functionality. Created chart and tried to print, but got message that there were too few stitches... Added another row.... Was able to print, but got vertical columns... Not rows needed. My search continues. ### 2/5 — This app has potential, but not there yet *2013-10-26* I recently purchased this app, as it appeared to be the best option for pattern design in the App Store. Once I started using it, I discovered its limitations. The app does not allow you to set the number of stitches you want in your pattern grid, which makes it virtually useless for me. The available pattern grid in the app is entirely too small. It seems to be meant for small, repetitive patterns, not for larger intarsia design. It enables one to see how a pattern you create will look in whatever color yarn you want to work with. You can create the perfect balance of color and see INSTANTLY how it changes the look of your pattern. It has features to create different sizes and print them or share them. There is a mode where you see your pattern as knit which is also helpful. Works very well on my iPad. Well supported app. Had a question on a feature and Stefan got back to me right away.
