God help you if you accidentally press in a character and have to repeat a whole dialogue again. -the sound effects HURT YOUR EARS. The walking sound will drive you crazy, and the button pressing and elevator ding sound is like driving a nail into your brain. The music is shrill. Pros: -acceptable pixel art -good story So yeah, okay at your own risk. Is it worth $2? I mean, I guess? ### 3/5 — :-) *2021-06-15* •Knapp an 4 Sternen. The other guy complaining about these games not being as open as maniac mansion isn't a realistic criticism. Tons of screens in each segment to explore and its just as fun. It's more similar to those games he lists than they are different by a long shot! My only complaint is you need to allow canceled actions, instead of forcing the action to play out after you've clicked. Most games of this type are standard in that regard. You also need to allow clicking to forward the dialogue, it's end user choice. That's also a standard. I find the game a little slower/less flexible as a result. Love to see that worked into an update. Thanks ### 5/5 — Brilliant! A classic point and click *2017-08-19, version 2.0* I played this with my 8 year old, we both absolutely loved it. It is such a throw back from the classic point and click games of the 80s. My boy said it was a great game too. Thanks for making this, we hope to see more! ### 5/5 — Loved it! A nice blast from the past in old school adventure games *2017-08-16* A few tweaks would make it perfect. I often talk to the Sam person until they repeat. If you could move or tap to cancel a repeat conversation. Also if tapping the edge of the screen it would be nice that you can change direction instead going to the next screen and coming back if you change your mind half way across the screen. Klar, dass hier an die alten LucasArts Point & Click-Adventures angelehnt wurde. Die Rätsel sind zwar nicht allzu schwer und kaum Möglichkeiten Gegenstände aus dem Inventar zu kombinieren, aber für Fans der alten Spiele durchaus nette Unterhaltung. Die Dialoge kommen natürlich nicht an das große Vorbild heran, aber angesichts des Preises für das Spiel können keine großen motivationsfördernden Gagen drin sein. Trotzdem ist es liebevoll gestaltet. If you are a fan of Zak McKraken you might enjoy this. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Worst game ever. *2017-09-30* When I see point and click adventure games, I think they are games where you go and explore and enjoy moving around, along with, well pointing and clicking. One good example is Mario and the music box. But this game is nothing like that, nor any other good point and click game. It is poorly made with bad controls, insanely slow dialog, and most importantly, an insanely long and boring tutorial. It took me half an hour just to get through, and that's not including the parts of the game I played. Maybe if it was free, I wouldn't be writing this review right now, but instead, it costs 2 dollars! In conclusion, I would not suggest buying this game if your a customer, and if you're a game developer, if you want people to like this, you better get a major update!!! **Developer response:** Did you even play the game? Which tutorial are you talking about? You probably only wanted to promote your own game, which by the way will never reach the App Store because of copyright infringement. ### 1/5 — Fun until it breaks *2016-09-24, version 1.0* It was really fun until it broke on me. In the sewer where you replace the wire, not happening for me (iPhone 7, iOS 10). I equipped the wire and even made a point to tap slowly on every part of the screen whether near the wire break or not. Absolutely nothing happens. Insult to the old games *2016-09-22, version 1.0* Bought this thinking it would be a flashback to playing those old 90s style games but this was garbage. No way to speed up the junk dialogue and the game is way too easy and entirely linear. Definitely not worth $3... Well done, 13-year olds. ### 2/5 — Jeu sympa mais beaucoup trop court *2017-08-29* Le jeu est plutôt sympathique au premier abord et une bonne ambiance est présente dans le jeu (même si certains décors et environnement de jeu semblent un peu vides). Cependant, le plus gros problème est la durée de vie du jeu : je l'ai fini en environ 2 heures . La plupart des jeux du type " point and click" sont plutôt vers les 6-7 heures minimum. The dialogue wants to be clever, but it ends up being very trite. Also, some of the items you pick up will be hard to identify in your inventory because the shapes aren't always clear. But, the game is called Paul Pixel for a reason. If you have time to spare, you could probably knock this out in a hour or so. This game definitely has that old school pixel vibe, but nostalgia isn't enough to make it great. ### 2/5 — Boring and generic *2016-10-08, version 1.2* First off I'm a fan of retro graphics and point and click games, but these graphics are just horrible. The choice of font and colour was a mystifying one too, as it made reading the text pretty hard. Puzzles are obtuse and confusing (which at least is in keeping with the games that this is a homage too), and even though the story is supposed to be silly, the way it plays out and the outcomes of your choices are pretty stupid. Also, the inventory pics need a description when you click on them, as it's easy to forget what something is and the pictures themselves aren't a lot of help!
