My favorite line that I repeat often is. “The story of God has been, is now, and always will be the story of the world.” That reminds me that the best is yet to come! This app is made by a man whose ministry is primarily for men. Why use women with hard to understand foreign accents to read the prayers? I lead men to healing in a Wild at Heart life group at my church. But the purposefully slow speed that John speaks is frustrating to me. Pausing and “slowing down” in my day doesn’t mean my brain numbs and I read or listen at half speed. I tried the Experience Jesus program and I just couldn’t deal with the Caribbean or African woman’s voice reading the scripture. So now it’s an accent on top of slow speaking. Nope. Christian meditation is severely lacking, and reading Get Your Life Back and using this app really showed me its joys that we so often neglect. It was great for spiritual health. The pictures are breathtaking, the music is simple and lovely, and the words provide a good guide. I have recommended this app before and found it spiritually rejuvenating. But after the Resilient update, I found myself unable/unwilling to use it because of how ugly it is now. Which is shocking since this app is based on a book about contemplating beauty. The words now appear at a black bar at the bottom in a hideous, basic font instead of over the picture, meaning I have to pick between reading the meditation (since I often use this app at times when I cannot listen to it) or contemplating beauty. It’s so distracting that I haven’t used the app in months. I have not tried the resilient training, which I’m sure is well written, but I don’t want to for fear that it will also be so ugly and basic that I can’t think of anything else. I am so disappointed that a rejuvenating part of my day is now gone because the developers decided that beauty doesn’t matter. If the app ever went back to focusing on being beautiful and providing an immersive, contemplative experience (something veryyyy few apps do), I would return to being a daily user. I might try to get used to the ugliness, but I haven’t been successful so far. Very sad to me. At least I can still use the principle, but it was so nice to have the reminders and guides. It had been a while since I lasted did a pause via this app but I was ready. Somehow fear and anxiety crept in my heart and I needed to be guided through Jesus restoring my union with Him. I opened the app as I normally had and I led through the intro as if it were my first time. I had accumulated at least 1200 minutes of pausing and I don't remember how many pauses I’d done. It was a significant amount of times. I just know that I had unlocked the one, three, five and ten minute pauses. There’s no way to reach out to a support team in the app so here I am. I need more than a minute right now so I’ll just take deep breaths on my own and do something else.
