## What is PawStomp?

Is it safe to walk your dog right now?

Hot pavement can burn your dog's paws in seconds — and it's impossible to know just by looking. PawStomp estimates real-time ground surface temperatures based on your location and current weather conditions, then alerts you automatically when conditions may be unsafe.
What PawStomp does:

Estimates ground temperature for pavement, sidewalk, sand, and grass
Sends automatic alerts when conditions may be unsafe for walking
Forecasts the best walk times based on hourly conditions
AR surface estimator — point your camera at the ground for an on-the-spot reading
Set your address once and let the app monitor conditions for you

Built for dog owners who don't want to guess.
On a sunny 75°F day, pavement can reach over 125°F — hot enough to cause burns in under a minute. PawStomp keeps you one step ahead so every walk starts safely.
Important: PawStomp provides estimates only and is not a measurement device. The absence of a warning does not guarantee safety. Always test surfaces with the back of your hand before walking your dog.
Walk smarter. Protect every paw.

## Version history (last 5 releases)

### 1.3.1 — 2026-08-09

Your home screen now gives you a live look before you even tap in. Once you're
a returning user, the main button shows your saved location's current
pavement temperature, a clear No Warning / Too Hot badge, and when it was last
  checked.

The premium hourly forecast has been redesigned into one unified view. Drag
the slider and everything updates together — air temp, UV index, cloud cover,
every surface temperature, and the shade forecast — instead of three separate
  sections repeating the same information.

Five new breeds join the roster — Blue Heeler, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel,
Miniature Schnauzer, Newfoundland, and Shih Tzu — each with a custom app icon
that updates automatically when you select your dog's breed.

Forgot your password? You can now reset it right from the sign-in screen, with
a show/hide toggle on the password field too.

### 1.3.0 — 2026-07-09

Six new breeds join the roster — Pug, Chihuahua, Cocker Spaniel, Greyhound,
Great Dane, and Old English Sheepdog — each with a custom app icon that
updates automatically when you select your dog's breed.

Ask Siri to check your last ground temperature reading without opening the
app. Say "Check paw temps with PawStomp" and Siri will report what pavement
and grass were at your most recent reading.

Daily Walk Reminders are now predictive. Premium members can enable a morning
forecast that checks conditions early each day and sends a summary of the best
walk window — plus a heads-up about 45 minutes before ground temps are
  expected to rise sharply.

PawStomp is now available in Spanish (Latin America).

The app now supports iOS 17 and watchOS 10, bringing PawStomp to a wider range
  of devices.

### 1.2.0 — 2026-06-18

More accurate temperature estimates on cloudy and partly cloudy days — the
model now factors in UV index more aggressively when clouds are present, so a
hazy afternoon reads closer to what your dog's paws actually feel.

Red Brick is now available as an optional surface. Toggle it on in Settings if
your walk route includes brick paths or patios.

Nine new breeds: Australian Shepherd, Beagle, Border Collie, Boxer, Chocolate
Lab, Collie, English Bulldog, Rottweiler, and Yorkshire Terrier, each with a
  custom app icon.

Your saved locations now show city and state so you can tell spots apart at a
  glance.

Improved accessibility support for the Apple Watch app and widgets.

### 1.1.1 — 2026-06-12

More accurate surface temperatures — the app now uses historical weather data
so late-afternoon readings reflect heat that built up throughout the day, not
just current conditions. Fixed a late-night display glitch where sun-exposed
surfaces could read cooler than shade.

Two new breeds: Corgi and Goldendoodle, each with a custom app icon.

14 new achievements including tiered badges and seasonal milestones.

Added Voice Control and Larger Text support. All layouts now adapt cleanly at
  every text size.

### 1.1.0 — 2026-06-07

Smarter temperature predictions with improved afternoon accuracy, four new dog breeds (Australian Shepherd, Beagle, Border Collie, and Boxer), and full VoiceOver support with over 80 accessibility labels throughout the app. Also includes text display fixes and a new Accessibility statement in Settings.
