### 1/5 — Horrible

*2022-09-05, version 04.01.2022*

Every time I go to checked my kids account it says it logged me out for my protection because of being logged in too long or something like that but I was not logged in. I thought this app would be helpful instead of sending money in and guessing how much my kid has or instead of getting a bill because they bought everyone lunch!!! Frustrating

### 1/5 — Sloooow to load…

*2022-09-01, version 04.01.2022*

This app is slow to load when initially opening and then also slow to load going from page to page… it took me 15 to attempt to add money to my students meal account, I finally just gave up! Please fix!

### 1/5 — Worst customer service ever

*2022-08-31, version 04.01.2022*

They have a support number and no one will ever answer . There is always a recording that says two people are ahead of you but an hour later it says the same thing . It will ask if you want them to hold your place in line and they will call you back . No one ever calls back . Useless company , app and customer service . It seems like after Covid customer service has really went downhill for the most part with most companies . PaySchools is no exception . My son’s school said call them , they are very nice and helpful. I can’t ever get anyone on the phone to find out .

### 1/5 — Horrible can’t get past the log in

*2022-08-30, version 04.01.2022*

If I could give it a zero I WOULD!!! This is the worst app ever created. I NEVER am able to log in. As soon as I log in it tells me that my session has expired! But I can’t even get past the log in screen to enter payment add fund to my kids account. Horrible design. DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!

### 1/5 — I’m raging as I type

*2022-08-28, version 04.01.2022*

This app is complete feces! Had to update the app to use. Wouldn’t accept my password. Hit forgot password. Now it said cannot use current password as new password. 🫠 So I type a variation. Now it says cannot use a password that was recently used… what? I make an entirely new password that I’ll probably never remember and log in. It goes to my page. Thinking I’m in the clear, I try to enter money into my kids accounts, but no. When I click on the amount box it logs me out automatically.
I hate this app and everyone that developed it. FECES!

### 1/5 — Abysmal

*2022-08-19, version 04.01.2022*

I deleted this app several months ago when I could no longer log in and use it. I’ve re-downloaded it and same issue. Says that I need to enter a password when clearly all of the form items are filled out… including the password. Pretty much unusable. They should fire whoever has developed and “maintained” this application. Based on the ratings it’s clear that their awful work affects more than just myself.

### 1/5 — App is horrible and website is worse

*2022-08-17, version 04.01.2022*

I really don’t understand why schools use this company. The app is horrible and just displays “please wait” for hours on end. The website is even worse yet with nothing working. All I want to do is see what my kids are eating for lunch and make sure they have enough funds to pay for it. If there was a zero star rating, this app would get it. Don’t waste your time using it.

### 1/5 — Glitchy

*2022-08-14, version 04.01.2022*

Every time I log in it signs me on and when I try to click on one of my kids names to check their balance from last year, the app restarts and tells me to login . I hate the reports coming in an email. There should be no reason in these technologically advanced time that an app like this should even exist.

### 1/5 — Worst app I’ve ever seen or used - I work in user experience

*2022-08-12, version 04.01.2022*

This is quite possibly the worst app I have ever used. Last year I couldn’t get my kids set up because they didn’t inform us of how they actually spelled my kids names (obviously they spelled their names wrong). This year when we’re finally actually using it after Covid, I can’t even log into the account. After maybe three seconds the app times out so I can’t even technically login to do anything. I’ve tried to email customer support - no response. I’ve tried to call customer support and keep getting this long loop of automated voice and all they want to do is send me a link to help when the problem is actually the app won’t let me login officially. There’s no way to get any help.

### 1/5 — I would give 0 stars if I could!

*2022-03-31, version iOS App 11.11.2021*

This is the worst app ever. It’s telling me to do an update when there isn’t one. So I tried to do it online from my phone and can’t see or do anything because the popped out box won’t collapse. So inconvenient. Not user friendly. Def not convenient when you have to use a computer to go to the site.

### 1/5 — FIX THE APP!!!

*2022-03-02, version iOS App 11.11.2021*

Constantly kicks you out after logging in (session expired as soon as I log in?!?!) My children’s school district requires we use PaySchools for everything, would be realllllly nice to be able to pay from phone and not constantly pull up information on pc! Has been this way for months, PLEASE FIX!!!

### 1/5 — Pay Schools App

*2022-02-25, version iOS App 11.11.2021*

This just gets worse and worse. Can’t get it to email me low balance notices- can’t get reports emailed to me of what my kid is ordering. It will say ‘successfully sent a report to your email on file and lists my email correctly, but never has. NO ONE ever returns email questions. Not to mention we are forced to use this to pay for meals at the school. Ridiculous

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2022-02-05, version iOS App 11.11.2021*

I finally get logged in and it keeps trying to use face ID, then immediately says I’ve been idle for an hour and logs me out. Can’t do anything. Then tried to use the web page instead and can’t get my card info to load. So frustrating.

### 1/5 — Worst App Ever Developed

*2021-12-20, version iOS App 11.11.2021*

If I could give ZERO stars I would. WORST APP DEVELOPED!!!

If you want to review balances, card saved on your child’s account, what your child purchased, the app is perfect. You want to action anything on the count like change cards, set auto-replenish, make a manual 1x payment, let me save you time and frustration….DO EVERYTHING FROM COMPUTER/LAPTOP!!! I wasted so much time trying to switch my credit card on my account and reset auto-pay when my card expired. All screens appeared to accept my new card, but auto-replenish continued to decline because I needed to make 1 manual payment from card. However, the app doesn’t allow for a manual payment!!! Went to site on laptop and completed necessary transactions in less than 5 minutes. How about revising app description to read “View account information only!!!”. Worthless if you actually need to maintain child’s lunch account!!!

The only positive…PaySchoolsCentral customer service via email was responsive and provided quick answer to my simple issue.

### 1/5 — The app is useless - please fix!!!

*2021-11-10, version 10.11.2021*

This is hands down the worse app I’ve ever encountered. Each time I log in to add money to my child’s account it logs me in and immediately logs me out. This has been happening for over a month. Fix this issue. I’m already planning to call the school board to suggest a different platform because this is absolutely ridiculous. I wish I could give it no stars

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — I give up

*2023-02-15, version 04.01.2022*

I’ll just use the website. The simple concept of “ask for FaceID BEFORE logging in” or “people should use password managers and therefore no letters will be TYPED” are too much for this outfit to grasp. Multiple tries of logging in, deleting the last character of the password then re-adding it, only for FaceID to kick in some random time later and log me out has broken me.

Buy a clue, because all these complaints about your app haven’t made you find one.

I’m deleting the app and will never add it again. This app is a crime against humanity.

### 1/5 — payforit was much better

*2023-01-14, version 04.01.2022*

Every time I try to use the app it immediately says my session has expired. Can’t access anything on it. And it worked somewhat. OK on my iPhone 6s Plus. Worthless on my iPhone 14 Pro. I have waited two months for the problem to be solved and nothing is fixed yet.

### 1/5 — Didn’t work

*2023-01-04, version 04.01.2022*

The app is not allowing to perform any action after login, and immediately logged out and ask to enter username/password and even face id is also didn’t work, have to either login from browser or laptop, very frustrating

### 1/5 — Next to worthless

*2022-12-02, version 04.01.2022*

Any school board or school board representative thinking of switching or implementing PaySchools should use their app that is terrible and they will immediately look elsewhere. The audacity to charge a $2 internet convenience fee insinuates that their app is intuitive or easy to use, let me assure you it’s not. Yes you can easily add money to your child’s account but the rest if the features will send you emails of data that could just as easily be shown in the app. This app reeks of a company not trying because they deal with a guaranteed pay source and can easily hold their audience captive regardless of how inept they ares

### 1/5 — Needs updates

*2022-10-06, version 04.01.2022*

I have to uninstall and reinstall this app frequently because I get booted out as soon as I log in.

Along with getting booted out, I get the error message stating that I've been Idle and or logged in past the allotted time and need to re-sign in. Like that's not what I've just done.

The most frustrating thing is that Plain Local Schools only offer this payment method to pay for my children’s lunch.
If they have a deficit the school won't allow them to eat.

How can you offer such harsh consequences when you provide an ineffective resource?

### 1/5 — Does not work

*2022-09-19, version 04.01.2022*

Literally everytime I log in, I have 30 seconds of functionality from this app and then it kicks me off, saying my session has expired. I’m trying to see what my daughter has been buying (her balance has diminished pretty quickly, yet with these app issues all I get to do is see her balance. Quite annoying!!

### 1/5 — App doesn’t show anything important!

*2022-09-15, version 04.01.2022*

I added money to my daughter’s account and she has used it since, but the balance still shows the original amount added. If I want to see a transaction history, I need to be emailed a report?! That’s unnecessary- why can’t it just be viewed in the app?

### 1/5 — New App Needed

*2022-09-12, version 04.01.2022*

This is a unfriendly app. I don’t like paying for something and then having to realize 24 hours later you didn’t. It is super hard to figure out what the heck is going on. I’ve paid in my sons lunch three times and still waiting on confirmation and then after two-three days I still have no information. So I assume I didn’t pay correctly. Unfriendly. I will just start writing checks to the school directly to pay for his lunches. This is such a waste of my time!!!

### 1/5 — terrible

*2022-09-10, version 04.01.2022*

Doesn’t let me sign in whenever I do get in it kicks me off before I can even check anything, it’s frustrating every other step I get signed out!! takes forever to complete I wind up adding enough for months at a time just to avoid using this

### 1/5 — Horrible User Interface

*2022-09-08, version 04.01.2022*

This application is not functional at all. It is hard to use, often lags, and does not allow for basic actions that you would think an app like this would offer. Zero stars

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Does the job

*2022-09-16, version 04.01.2022*

I used this app to put money on my children’s lunch account. It was a smooth transaction. I already had an account and the information was there when I logged in. I do not know why most people are rating this application at a 1 star. This app did what I needed it to do and with no problems. Good job developers!

### 4/5 — Basic Useful App

*2021-09-04, version 09.02.2021*

It’s a basic, useful tool that could use some refinement, but not as “useless” or terrible as some other reviews make it seem. I like it, because it allows you to set a threshold for payment for lunch money and automatically replenishes at that set level, set and forget is great! One less thing about which to worry.

The reports on what your kid is eating is comprehensive and helps me monitor good and poor choices of food, without this tool I couldn’t have an intelligent conversation with my child about better nutrition.

Additionally, the ability to pay for other school fees is great! No more check writing and forgetting to drop off at school!

Just a side note, other reviews complain about it formerly being easier to just view on the app what your child is eating versus having to generate an emailed report…it’s not that big a deal. Maybe find something more important about which to whine?? Thanks!

### 4/5 — Convenient

*2021-05-31, version 3.3.2021*

This app makes it so simple and convenient to add money to your school children’s lunch money account and pay school fees. You can even chose to just pay one fee at a time or pay several. It makes it safer so kids don’t have to carry cash to buy lunch. The only thing I hated was the additional fee when adding money to their lunch account.

### 3/5 — Can’t transfer funds between students.

*2022-09-07, version 04.01.2022*

That fact that you can’t transfer funds between students is a drag. I’ve had this complaint for years with this app. It’s frustrating when one child has a ton of money in their account and you can’t use any of it to quickly find another child’s account.

### 2/5 — Poorly designed app would not be widely used

*2023-03-06*

It’s amazing that schools use this app. Developers could not figure out how to have same student (different yr)???? Need different email address so when child chg schools or moves on to middle or hs different email needed! Now you can’t even view reports from app it gets emailed. Lunch accounts should be one of the last things that should be inconvenient. Not user friendly at all!

**Developer response:** Hello,

### 2/5 — Automatic logout fix!

*2022-08-28, version 04.01.2022*

After having the same problem as everyone else (constantly being logged out 5 seconds after manually logging in) I figured out a fix! Turn off the Face ID login option. This will allow you to login without being kicked out.

### 2/5 — Too basic

*2022-08-25, version 04.01.2022*

Basically all you can do in the app is see your kid’s balance, add to their account, or set auto replenishment. If you want to see any history, it forces you to download a report that gets emailed to you - I’d rather be able do see it right on the screen and not have more emails/files unless I need it.

If you have kids at different schools in different schools they both use this platform, you can’t manage them on the same account - you actually have to set up a separate account using a different email.

Not critical, but would be nice to be able to change the icons for each kid for a visual difference between them.

### 2/5 — Categories not intuitive

*2021-10-21, version 10.11.2021*

Lots of mental thinking to figure out how to replenish lunch meals. Not intuitive. When you get to the dashboard you have to figure out that you have to go to the cart in order to put something in the cart. And then you have to go back into the car to check out. Need a simple “replenish” or “pay” next to each child- then checkout. Also home is where the dashboard is but other places have account information which is where I first went to pay for things and where auto replenish is. Organization is very poor

### 2/5 — Nice but frustrating

*2021-08-05, version 6.28.2021*

Too buggy. DO NOT use Face ID your app will crash and sometimes cause a password reset.
I like the convenience of paying the kids’ school but can never seem to get my older child registered. 🤷🏼‍♀️

### 2/5 — No immediate payment!!

*2021-05-27, version 3.3.2021*

This app is good, but WHY can’t we do an immediate payment into our children’s lunch acct??? So when they come home saying there’s no money in their acct, you have to setup automatic payments, which is fine, but the money still has not gone into their acct and it’s been over 24 hours!!! So bo lunch money in acct AGAIN today! So frustrating!
