### 1/5 — Don’t work

*2025-02-11, version 4.0.5*

Updated the app and now can’t scan QR code for my son’s class.

### 1/5 — Crashes once a yr requiring QR code

*2024-10-16, version 4.0.1*

I wouldn’t recommend this app. It is a great idea but it’s functionality make it not worth it.

### 2/5 — Issues with Mobile Friendliness in Messages

*2024-04-19*

Not sure which version this issue began, but I am currently on 3.1.08. When I open the messages, it opens and keeps me at the first message ever sent by the teacher. I then have to scroll all the way down to find the latest message. When I scroll down, the back arrow moves up as well. So to get out of the message, I then have to scroll all the back to the top to get out of the message. This was not always an issue. Please fix this! Mobile apps should be mobile friendly!!!

### 1/5 — Glitches on top of glitches

*2024-04-10*

I love the idea of being able to easily communicate with teachers but this app is so glitchy that’s it’s almost unusable. I haven’t been able to open photos that the teachers will send for a few weeks, every time I try, it just automatically keeps scrolling to the top of the page of messages and now it’s just scrolling to the top for no reason when I try to look at the new messages I get from the teacher. I’ve made sure it’s up to date so I know it’s not my phone. FIX THE APP!!!

### 1/5 — Just plain bad

*2024-04-07*

There are so many problems with the app it is likely I will forget something. For this I am a parent first, but also a teacher who is thankful I am not required to use this with my own students. Problems 1. Access to posts from teachers is either impossible due to not being able to scroll back far enough to get info or impossible because as one tries to access it the screen hops all over and doesn’t allow enough time to be able to click on posts/links from teachers. Possible solution: have a secondary document access area for parents to access posted attachments and a search function that could take the parents to posts with keywords. 2. Photo quality is horrible. The teachers try so hard to share nice images with families but their time is wasted because the quality of the images is so bad. 3. That red circle! The red circle suggesting I need to view some information in the app does not go away even after opening every single drop down. Thus I am more likely to miss messages because I never know if the red circle is a real message or one I’ve already looked at and cannot spend my whole day checking to see if a real post has been made 4. There either is no web based version for access or it is impossible to find. I had hoped to login on a desktop to see if accessing attachments would be possible there, but found no way to login to the parent info. We’ve been forced to use this by my daughters school after years of using ClassDojo (which worked great, by the way) and I have been unimpressed, annoyed, or frustrated every since time I have to use this app.

### 2/5 — Non-starter On First Task

*2023-11-17, version 3.1.04*

Okay, I'm a software engineer, so, this app isn't ready for mobile. I have the student info copied from the email, but the only way in the mobile app to add a student with with a QR code, and that QR code can only be scanned via the camera -- not from a photo or other screen. No way to copy the info from the email/webpage that directs you to the app. This is a non-starter user experience.

### 1/5 — Not healthy for children

*2023-08-15*

My daughter just started kindergarten 4 days ago and we are already not liking this new “points system”. It is not an equal way for all students to be rewarded for good behavior and disciplined for negative behavior. My daughter was already using phrases about “getting points taken away” during her free play as a way to tell the other child she was not liking how they were playing/acting. It’s a fear mongering tactic that is not healthy for children. This is also taking time and attention away from the students. My daughter gets 7-9 different situations of points throughout the day (there’s a time stamp when points and comments are added) and there is 18 kids total in her class alone. If you do the math, that’s a long time the teachers focus is away from the students and the education that they are supposed to be giving our children. In situations where one student is being praised and other students are being left out creates criticism between students. Maybe the teacher just didn’t noticed the good deed or correct behavior and now that student gets missed on those points for the day. I could go on and on about the cons of this program!
Some parents like it because they can use the points to purchase things at the school. While that is great for maybe middle/highschools that typically have a school store. Our elementary school, like most grade schools don’t have opportunities to purchase extra things so the use of the rewards goes away for the students making it again a pointless way to manipulate children into behaving in a way that each individual teacher sees fit.

### 1/5 — App not working

*2023-07-27*

The app worked for the first week of school. Without any prompting on my part my wife and I both lost connection to our child. I read on her to press the reconnect button and all that did is make it so the app only shows the scan to add button. Still no child and no reconnect button. Not sure why our school switched to this by class dojo did not have these problems.

**Developer response:** We do apologize for the inconvenience, you may need to check with the school administrator for a new QR code.

### 1/5 — Scan codes don’t work

*2023-05-24, version 3.1.03*

Every time it updates and you have log in the scan codes don’t work is a pain

### 1/5 — Worse app

*2022-10-26, version 3.1.01*

I had all 3 of my kids on here and for no reason at all the app crashed. I deleted the app to reinstall now I can’t get all 3 of my kids to be back on even after requesting for 3 separate teachers to send me the QR code yet again!
I have 2 on the app currently and when I click “add” it gives an error that “scanning failed: scanning already in progress”
I’ve tried it 20-30 times just now. Deleting the app redoing it. The option to reconnect students doesn’t work either. So I’m just frustrated and it shouldn’t be this damned difficult.

### 1/5 — Does not work and deletes your students

*2022-10-15, version 3.1.01*

I am a teacher and a parent. I do not use this as a teacher. I am extremely frustrated. I had my son all logged in . I got rid of the QR paper because I had scanned him in. You claim the reconnect a student works but it worked for my husband on his phone. Mine is still demanding for the QR code again. When I click reconnect it says no student to reconnect. I have not been able to see my sons points since September. I should not be required to constantly ask his teacher for the QR code to get my son back. His teacher has not resent the paper so here I am frustrated that I can’t see my son’s points and talk to him about his day. There needs to be a second way you can connect your student without relying on a QR code to be printed! I’m so over this!

### 1/5 — All of a sudden will delete your kids

*2022-09-28*

All of a sudden the app took away all of my kids that I had attached to my parent account (without signing out) and asks me to scan the codes to add them. But I still see the messages the teachers send me…

**Developer response:** We are sorry that you lost the connection to your students but we have put a fix in place if you update the app you should see a button that says "Reconnect Students" which should add your students back to the app.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Notifications

*2026-08-14*

The red dot for notifications for a message or update NEVER goes away. At the end of last school year I finally went into my notifications and turned off notifications but when I turned it back on for this school year the red dot is back and I haven’t even attached my kids to it yet. If the school had a different way for parent updates I’d delete this app

### 1/5 — Needs Improvement Badly

*2026-08-14*

The notification badge constantly shows an unread message even after everything has been opened and read. The app also isn’t very user-friendly and could be smoother and better organized. On top of that, photos sent by teachers often come through blurry or unclear. For a school communication app, these are pretty important issues. Please fix the notifications, photo quality, and overall usability!

### 1/5 — Notification

*2026-06-11*

Like another review…why won’t the red notification go away?! It’s so annoying. Please fix this! I don’t have any notifications…school has been out for the summer for weeks and I have made sure I’ve opened and read all notifications. It’s been there for months!!!

### 1/5 — Glitch

*2026-05-07*

Every time my son gets awarded a point with a comment the notification bubble doesn’t go away for over 24 hours even after I open and close the app and read the comment with the point. This also happens every so often with messages from the teacher. The red notification telling me I have something to read on the app shows up and stays there even after opening the message and refreshing. Sometimes a few hours sometimes a few days.

### 1/5 — Randomly removed

*2026-02-04, version 5.0.1*

One of my children was randomly removed from my app and it won’t add them back. Even when using the QR code issued by the school. It does no good to call the support line they just tell you to call the school.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2025-11-05, version 5.0.1*

App is literally unusable

### 1/5 — Makes zero sense

*2025-09-09, version 5.0.0*

I got a link for the school to this app for my child’s pbis account setup and to track as mom is rewards/points behaviors ect and asking for my card info and trying to charge me $20 to download app after saying it’s free isn’t ok makes no sense

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2025-08-05, version 5.0.0*

I can’t even scan my kid’s code, nothing happens when I click scan. I tried scanning with the regular camera but it just opens up a Google error page. Checked for updates but it’s up to date. What a waste of energy. I wish schools didn’t use it.

### 1/5 — Scan code button isn’t clickable!

*2025-03-22, version 4.0.6*

I can’t even click the scan code button, nothing happens. Please help.

### 1/5 — Dislike

*2025-02-25*

I loathe that I cannot turn on notifications for messages… every other app out there I’m turning off notifications, this app I need notifications for when the teacher or school messages and cannot find where to turn this on!!

### 5/5 — Teachers Are Doing The Best They Can

*2023-08-30*

Just wanted to add anther perspective. I think it’s a great app of it does what it’s supposed to do, which is encourage children to behave in class so that teachers can teach. Sure, it would be wonderful if all children behaved appropriately out of the kindness of their heart. However, that’s not what happens, realistically, in a classroom full of children with very different needs and patterns of behavior. There’s no one size fits all and teachers need all the tools necessary to manage a classroom of children who come from many households, who have many unique parenting styles, behavior management styles, etc. This is simply a tool. Some kids will behave anyway, without a point system. Some kids need an extra incentive to behave, outside of just the desire to follow the rules because it’s the right thing to do. I taught for two years and goodness, that was the hardest thing ever because every child is different and I had to use a wide variety of behavior management techniques. Guess what, points/reward systems worked for many students. Additionally, even as adults at work it feels good when our bosses recognize and reward our hard work. Yes, you should do a great job at work just to be a good employee, but man does it feel good to get a gift/accolades for doing my best. And yes, some efforts may go unnoticed, as in the real world.

### 5/5 — A great app

*2019-11-04, version 2.5*

I think pbis rewards is a really good app 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👩🏻‍🏫👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👌

### 4/5 — Notification design flaw

*2022-08-18*

The app tells me I have a notification but not where to FIND the notification once I’ve opened the app. Not a huge deal but relatively annoying. Other than that, it seems fine.

**Developer response:** Thank you for making us aware of this issue. We will notify our development team of the issue so they can work on it. In the meantime, if you have any other issues, don't hesitate to contact support here: https://support.pbisrewards.com/help/

### 3/5 — Notifications

*2026-05-09, version 5.0.2*

Please check your code to ensure when the app is open and the item is clicked on that the notification goes away. I hate having notifications stay around after opening an app

### 3/5 — Review

*2025-10-09*

It’s not letting me use the app. Says it needs to be connected to the Internet. It’s not my phone service or WiFi connection, I checked.

### 3/5 — Please update the update!

*2022-10-10, version 3.1.01*

2 of 3 kids restored ONLY by bugging teachers for new QR code. When I updated there was NO option to restore. I’ve only ever seen that message in a screen shot. Tech support advised me they couldn’t help and to contact my school. Please issue another update!

### 2/5 — Issues since I downloaded the app

*2025-11-19*

The notification badge doesn’t remove itself after viewing and refreshing the account. Very annoying.

### 2/5 — Text to add

*2025-08-27, version 5.0.0*

When getting a text to add a student, there is the option to “Copy Student Information”. Once the app opens, there is no where to paste the information and it can only add a student with a QR code. Not helpful.

### 2/5 — Poorly designed and stopped working

*2024-10-21*

Stopped working when the app developers changed the location of the source file where the app reads scores and data from. You get a message that says “error communicating with the server” and can do nothing about it. No option to update the app to fix that problem.

When it still worked, the app only showed the behavioral points of the current day. No way to go back to a previous day.

### 2/5 — Decent app that still needs some work

*2024-10-01*

The notification bubble will still show as an unread notification, sometimes for days, even after looking at whatever the notification was.
