## What is PC Color Mixer?

For artists using polymer clay, PC Color Mixer is an exciting, unique way to get the perfect clay colors for your project.  Most colors can be mixed using Sculpey Premo's®  or Fimo Professional® primary colors

Sculpey Premo® colors:  cobalt, fuchsia, and zinc, along with black and white 
Fimo Professional® colors: true blue, true magenta, tru yellow, black and white

The color to be mixed can be selected 5 different ways - by entering a 6 digit hex code, using the handy Color Picker from a color spectrum, choosing the color from an image on your device, or by entering the color's RGB or CMYK code in the app.

The user designates the amount of clay desired (in ounces), the brand of clay (Sculpey or Fimo), and the app goes to work, does the math, and calculates the exact weight in grams of the 5 primary clay colors needed to mix the chosen color.

A scale is needed that can weigh grams to two decimal places.

I hesitated for a long time before buying this app, but I’m so glad I finally did. The color results amazed me — even using Sculpey Soufflé instead of Premo, the mixes turned out beautifully. I truly regret not getting this sooner. It’s such a game changer for clay artists!

The internet is the easiest way to find the perfect color, but interpreting those shades into clay is extremely time consuming & can result in an excess of scrap clay.  

Fortunately there’s plenty of online resources to locate hex color palettes. Simply save the images for reference with this app & eliminate the guesswork in trying to find the perfect shade.

The ability to come up with a color recipe is just the beginning of the usefulness of this app. For people without much experience blending their own colors of clay, the color recipes are a boon. For people who can mix a custom color without a recipe, using the color picker to match a custom color provides a recipe that can be replicated over and over again in large or small quantities. No more flailing around trying to match a color created by adding a pinch of this and a glob of that.

The interface is intuitive and easy, and the performance is quick. I find myself using the app almost every time I sit down to work with polymer.

Mixing colors can be unintuitive. If you want lilac, you think you just need to add white, but in reality you’ll get a different color every time. That makes creating multiple batches over time really difficult. This uses the same formula every single time, so you know your colors will be perfect matches every batch. 

The app has a clean layout and is very simple to use. You’ll have to be patient to make the measurements exact, but the reward is precise colors.

This is the ideal tool for artists who make large amounts of objects, like Christmas ornaments, or who make very large things.

Already I can see where I will start no new project without using this app.  No more random blending of colors hoping to get that illusive periwinkle…and settling for not-quite-right purples. That I can also make just the amount of clay I need is terrific, but especially because if I need just a bit more of that perfect periwinkle I can keep using that hex code.  Love it!
