## Newest reviews (11 of 52)

### 2/5 — Very Basic

*2023-11-17, version 4.3*

Each page is not fully displayed, you need to scroll up and down, there’s no way to zoom in/out.
No interactive table of contents to enable navigation to a chosen article.
This is a very basic viewing app.

### 2/5 — Inconsistent downloads

*2022-08-14, version 4.1*

Magazine is OK. happy enough to subscribe but twice now the new editions have not downloaded.
Hope customer support fix issue promptly.

### 2/5 — What a disaster!

*2018-11-09, version 4.0*

How to go from a perfectly usable app to something that feels like it was produced on the cheap. It will make me think about renewing my subscription, which I’ve had for over 5 years.
Two stars just because of the content - it’s worth it to read Jon Honeyball’s columns.

### 1/5 — Utter crap

*2018-05-18, version 3.6.1*

The irony of this app being used to deliver tech savvy content is not lost on me. I cannot think of anything positive to say about it. Logging in each time, no offline issues etc etc. Steer clear and buy a hard copy instead.

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2018-04-28, version 3.6.1*

You get a copy of each page from the magazine. Impossible to read on a phone and a terrible experience on an iPad.

### 1/5 — Great content ruined by a terrible app and subscription service

*2018-03-08, version 3.6.1*

The app is a pain to use, difficult to read had to navigate

Will not allow offline access to magazine even though the issues are downloaded

My purchased issues have failed to show up several times. Latest time they were unable to get my access back. I was being asked to log onto a web site seperate from the app - this then decided u had a subscription to What Car.

Great magazine - but I won’t be reading it any more - subscription cancelled

### 1/5 — Appalling app

*2018-01-24, version 3.6.1*

PCpro isn't so professional when it comes to apps.

### 1/5 — Pro computer? Then why an amateur app?

*2016-11-12, version 3.6.1*

Unbelievable. PC Pro? Yet app is a disaster! Unable to zoom properly. Text lost behind border. Have to hold finger on screen to read bottom of page, or it defaults back to centre. Aw, come on guys - call yourselves computer professionals? This has to be the worst magazine reader app ever. Cancelled subscription. Get your act together for heavens sake.

### 2/5 — Good content, horrific app

*2016-10-16, version 3.6.1*

Whilst the content of the PC Pro magazine itself is something I enjoy the experience is pretty darn poor thanks to what can only be described as a horrific attempt at an app.

The app itself is incredibly buggy and you often find that you're unable to just swipe through the magazine like you can with every other app of this type but have to regularly research the page from the index that you want. In fact the app is almost so bad that I've been considering switching back to a physical paper copy.

### 2/5 — First impression...

*2016-08-10, version 3.6.1*

Why is the app still in low resolution and the old look & feel?!
I've just bought a subscription to a technology publication and your app is using the old interface of iOS 6!

Put some effort in for goodness sake!!

### 1/5 — Do NOT upgrade 2

*2015-12-10, version 3.6.1*

**Similar experience with latest update. Refused to recognise password. Lost access to purchased issues for a number of days. And still waiting for the interactive edition which was temporarily withdrawn a few years back but with promised rapid replacement **

Latest update a disaster. First step after installation is a database upgrade. App crashes after about 5% every time. Lost access to all my issues.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Scrapbook problem

*2023-03-24, version 4.1*

Just subscribed but there seems no way to access a page you add to the scrapbook.

### 1/5 — Access failure

*2020-06-25, version 4.1*

Subscribed for years. Couple of times had to renew existing subscription to get access to already paid subscription. Not a big problem. Now I can’t access the magazines the app reporting an auth error. Emailed developer who sd have to deal with Apple. Contacted Apple who gave some advice that didn’t work and sd app developer is responsible. So paid for subscription but cannot access the magazine and no one takes responsibility. Great magazine absolutely worthless support

### 1/5 — Non existent iPad Pro support

*2019-10-24, version 4.0*

Over a year since the iPad Pro came out and still doesn’t support the resolution correctly, pages don’t render the correct size. I won’t be renewing if it isn’t fixed

### 1/5 — Oh Dear

*2019-01-08, version 4.0*

As a long time magazine subscriber, I finally ‘upgraded’ to the digital version too. Unfortunately, there are a lot of basic mistakes with this app.

1. Why do the past editions not appear in order? There is a run of months in the correct order, then suddenly a few are out of order, then back in order again. (And the issue numbers are not readable in iPhone)

2. The content is not hyperlinked. Why can’t I click on an item in the index, and be taken to the relevant page. I either need to swipe through 50 pages to get to the right page, or navigate to a drop down list of pages in the home menu (helpfully just a list of page 1, page 2 etc!), then click the page. It would be even better if the content was hyperlinked across editions. (So I could click on a review from the A-List section and be taken to the correct edition and page).

3. On iPad, the pages are rendered just slightly too big to fit the screen! So you end up scrolling up and down a few lines to be able to see the whole content. Why not fit to the screen height? This would result in a solid view of the page, with left/right swiping always turning the page. At the moment, a slight drift up/down with your finger caused the page to scroll up/down and not turn.

It’s a real shame these issues exist, since the content is excellent, and I will continue to use it to inform my purchasing decisions in the future. Hopefully, the app will be updated soon.

### 1/5 — PC Pro

*2018-12-16*

It appears that each new edition has less and less relevant content and smacks of desperation on the part of the contributors.

### 1/5 — Terrible application, disgusted with Dennis publishing

*2018-10-14, version 4.0*

So below is an email I received back from the magazine support team after I chased them up about restoring my issues back to 2012.

Thank you for your email regarding PC Pro.

Dennis have only decided to load a certain number of issues into the app. This is usually only a years’ worth of issues per title. We appreciate customers will want to view all issues they have purchased, so we have raised this with Dennis and they are checking now if they can load in more older issues.

If we can be of any further assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards

Victor Gosling

I just can’t believe that they basically made you upgrade to an app that’s worse than the original and that didn’t give you the option to at least archive off the issue you’ve purchased.

I will be cancelling my subscription.

Don’t upgrade, I had issues available in the old app going back to 2012, they are only available now back to last November. Talk about making your loyal customers feel like they have been ripped off.

### 1/5 — Where r my missing Editions

*2018-09-20, version 4.0*

I had several years worth of Editions saved in the Old App, Was forced to download the latest incarnation & voila!!!! All the Editions that I’ve paid a considerable amount for are now gone...Not a very happy Bunny...I want what I’ve paid for returned ASAP......

### 1/5 — Latest update makes me want to cancel my subscription

*2018-09-15, version 4.0*

The latest update is bad. I have an iPad Pro 12.9”. With this update I am now having to scroll down to see the bottom of the page; and there’s no longer a view of 2 pages side-by-side in landscape mode.

### 1/5 — Worst app ever

*2018-09-02, version 3.6.1*

Shocking app given this is a tech magazine. I’ve been a reader for years and love the magazine but this app is a joke. Constantly have to restore my subscription and redownload the latest edition. Kinda hard while flying.

### 1/5 — Poor app. Good magazine.

*2018-08-25, version 3.6.1*

Every time I open the app I have to log into my account, and download the magazine again. Not being able to retain account details, or bookmark progress makes for a poor user experience compared to other apps. Considering cancelling my subs.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Problems

*2021-10-25, version 4.1*

Since October 2021 Am having nothing but problems with pcpro app. The ability to buy single issues has vanished from the app!
So I started a digital subscription, the instructions to access my account are all wrong! They don’t work!
So frustrating , have been with pcpro for years.

### 5/5 — Issue management

*2018-12-07, version 4.0*

Duplicate issues are not easy to remove from Library.

App menu does not allow you to download the latest issue nor does it advise when the digital download will be available.

### 5/5 — Horrific

*2018-09-16, version 4.0*

I had several years of the mag on my ipad now after the update to the new app I only have 12 months. Where are the older editions? I could still down load them using the old app.
Not as user friendly as the old app.

### 5/5 — Not Pro at all

*2017-04-18, version 3.6.1*

What an embarrassment! Excellent content but the app almost drives me back to the paper version. Worst of all, it keeps requiring you to login to access the editions you have paid for again. Not what you need when offline (e.g. On a flight...). Avoid.

### 5/5 — Very poor

*2014-09-24, version 3.1.4*

Don't mind the PDF format too much - but why not just give loyal paper readers the enhanced version?

The real issue is the app constantly logging out, so you have to log in almost every time you want a quick read.

Ironic that the app from pc pro is so much worse than all my other non-computer subscriptions....

### 4/5 — Can’t buy…

*2021-11-01, version 4.1*

The same problem as the last two reviews. No way to buy or subscribe it seems. It’s the same with the Computeractive app - also Dennis publishing. Been like this since October. Respond please Dennis… Even better, fix it! Four stars for when it’s working…

### 3/5 — No offline access

*2024-03-09, version 4.3*

Continuing the woes with this abysmal app. Since the last update, even the offline feature doesn’t work. You can tap to download locally, but if you try and read it without an internet connection, the app just freezes. Absolutely useless when travelling on things like planes! As before, a good magazine ruined by a terrible app. Surprised with all the experts in the magazine, they can’t get one of them to sort this out!

### 3/5 — PC Pro - could do better

*2023-10-04, version 4.3*

Disappointingly old-fashioned UI. Shouldn’t have to search through a bunch of print-facsimile pages to find, e.g., reviews for printers that excel in photo-printing.

### 3/5 — Bookmarks would make this more useful

*2021-04-16, version 4.1*

While the scrapbook option is ok for single pages, it would be much more useful to have a genuine bookmark option to allow re-reading useful articles that run over several pages.

### 3/5 — OK but

*2021-04-14, version 4.1*

Has suddenly become very crash mamin git hard to read magazines,
