You only get 3 free tries. After that, to buy the pro unlimited version it’s 7$. Way too much. I'd buy the pro if it was about half the cost. This app developer blocking their blessings. More people would buy if it was cheaper. ### 4/5 — Delivers! *2020-08-27, version 3.1* The only criticism... it doesn’t show the progress as the combined file is being created. After several minutes I had given up. Then it was suddenly finished. Still no sound effect or chime or graphics. ### 4/5 — Gets It Done and Beggars Can’t Be Choosers *2020-04-14, version 3.1* (**it’s only free if you’re willing to wait 60-90 minutes for your merge) If you’re tighter on cash than you are on time and value simplicity and effectiveness over extra perks, then I think you’ll be happy with this app. It’s easy enough to use. You can view the documents you’ve added to the merge list and adjust the order. Sometimes, I had trouble finding my documents from the app’s upload options, but that was easy to overcome by opening the documents and sending them to the PDF Merge app. (Note that I am a PC/Android user learning to function and access my files on someone else’s iOS, so pure iOS users with their own device might not have this issue at all—but hey, that speaks to the simplicity and intuitiveness of this app). I suppose I would rate it higher if it let you work on two merges at the same time or to upload documents that could be reused for subsequent merges, but this is a free app, so I don’t expect those features. ### 4/5 — Reliable albeit a bit slow *2019-08-08, version 3.1* I would purchase again as it does the job. Every time I try to upload my pdf documents to the merging app, exactly how the app tells me to, the documents do not show up in the merging app. It has frozen up on me numerous times and I ha e even tried deleting the app and RE-downloading it restoring my purchase and even that did not work. It’s a great idea, but very poor execution on the developers half. I paid the 5 dollars and it was more than worth it. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Too Many Bugs To Use *2021-09-11, version 3.1* I bought the lifetime merges feature for this app. Mistake. First, there it only merges. It doesn’t separate documents. There another app that does both better for the same price. After I updated the app, it will no longer merge anything. I have deleted, downloaded, etc., and nothing. I wrote customer service and got no response. ### 1/5 — Doesn’t function *2021-06-16, version 3.1* I hit bugs at every step. I tried waiting 60-90 minutes for the free queue and got repeated “network errors” hmmm...is it a trick to force you to pay $10 to upgrade? I tried 2 other (worse) PDF combining apps and as a last resort paid the $10 but buttons were greyed out and app unresponsive. I closed app and retried and it said I hadn’t upgraded, and still didn’t work. Thanks for wasting my time and stressing me out! ### 1/5 — For $9.99 this app doesn’t do much. *2019-07-24, version 3.1* Alas, I thought this app would be as good as Preview on the Mac. (I wanted to use it on my iPad). It’s not, by a long shot. All you can do is combine PDFs. You can’t reorder or delete pages in the combined pdf. Also I had to upload files to Dropbox to get them to combine, because the app doesn’t recognize files in iCloud. When I tried to get it to recognize a file on my iPad it crashed. What a waste. You can do all of these things easily for the same price by signing up for Adobe Acrobat for a month and then discontinuing it. ### 1/5 — Concerns with privacy *2018-10-01, version 3.1* I downloaded the app and tried to use it. It wanted me to log into my Onedrive account. However, the it also asked for permission to access my Onedrive information and to be able to log into my Onedrive account anytime. Why would it need me personal Onedrive information? Something looked fishy so I didn’t proceed. I will delete the app and not bother. ### 1/5 — Nonfunctional Application *2018-09-17, version 3.1* Unfortunately, this application does not have the ability to perform the single function it is intended to do - merge pdf files. The application will not accept ANY local pdf files (attempted to upload in a variety of ways from various local storage locations), nor will Google provide the application access to Google Drive - as they have deemed the applications access to your account a security risk. tl;dr - It has one job, and it can’t do it. ### 1/5 — Couldn’t export *2018-09-13, version 3.1* It looked like it was going to be a 3 or 4 star review. I had a couple of crashes but ended up merging my files in the end (and even paid the five bucks to do it faster). The problem is I could not export in any format (Email, the file was not attached. iBooks, it did not open. Acrobat, did not open. Export to files, never showed up). I needed my file immediately so no time to contact support. Ended up finding a free app that got the job (the whole job) done. Waste of 5 dollars. ### 1/5 — Wait for an hour and a half (hopefully) or pay *2018-06-08, version 3.1* I rarely rate an app this low. First of all, there is an error when trying to connect your google drive, so I was unable to access it. Further, the error locks the app, so I have to completely close it then re-open in order to regain control. Here's the bigger issue. The dealbreaker issue. After setting up dropbox I tried to merge 3 small docs. It turns out this is a service you have to wait for, rather than actual software on your device, and the estimated wait time was 60-90 minutes...are you kidding me? While they hold your PDFs hostage, they give you the option to pay $5 to expedite the process... On a smaller note, it claims to be an iPad app but has no horizontal view, so you have to tilt your iPad up every time you want to run it. I deleted it within 15 minutes of downloading it. ### 1/5 — horrible app *2017-09-19, version 3.1* This is a horrible app! DO NOT PAY THE 5$!!! It would glitch when I would attempt to click on a file that I wanted to merge and take my back to my home screen. Also the files that I wanted to merge on my google drive wouldn't even show up on the drive or my gmail so I couldn't even merge them. This app is a piece of crap!!! ### 2/5 — App paid but not working after 4 days *2020-12-05, version 3.1* I upgraded from free to paid app because free app takes 1 hour to convert 5 pages documents. The paid version takes 1-2 minutes to convert. But app stop working after 5 days and it’s been over a week and I emailed customer support and no reply from the company. I hope this app gets fixed soon or please refund my money. ### 2/5 — Not optimal; no developer response to feedback *2020-02-14, version 3.1* The app does what it’s supposed to do, but at such a slow rate that it’s almost not worth it. If one were to use combinepdf online, one could merge dozens of PDFs in the time it takes this app to create one merged file. Despite the myriad reviews corroborating on this issue, the developers must be negligent in responding to user feedback in any meaningful way, since, in the several months that I’ve had this app, no improvements either to user interface (e.g. how it refuses to accommodate for screen tilts) or this abhorrent sluggishness have been made.
