## What is PDF417 AAMVA?

PDF417 AAMVA encodes user data into an AAMVA standard barcode.
With PDF417 AAMVA application you can easily enter various useful information for PDF417 driver's license barcodes and ID barcodes. Use PDF417 AAMVA application to speed up and improve the processes of generating a valid and authentic PDF417 barcode with data format verification according to AAMVA standards.
The application uses an integrated encoding algorithm and processes all data locally to ensure data protection.
Driver's licenses are widely used as proof of identity in the United States and Canada. The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA) has standardized the design of PDF417 barcodes and the information they must contain. This data is encoded in a PDF417 barcode on the back that can be read by the DL PDF417 barcode scanner.

The app allows you to enter, verify and encode AAMVA ID / DL user data into the PDF417 driver's license barcode and the ID barcode. The application includes all the standard AAMVA elements and validation rules. Just enter the user specific data and get the valid PDF417 ID barcode. The PDF417 two-dimensional barcode symbology is the mandatory minimum machine-readable technology that must be present on compliant DL / ID documents.
The PDF417 symbology (see ISO /IEC 15438 Automatic Identification and Data Capture Techniques - International Two-dimensional Symbology Specification - PDF417) must be used for driver's license applications.
The symbology characteristics must meet the requirements of ISO /IEC 15438.
The barcode area must be located in Zone V of the DL / ID document. The maximum width of the pdf417 symbol is 75.565 mm (2.975"). The maximum height of the pdf417 symbol is 38.1 mm (1.50").
All conforming 2D symbols must include a file header that allows interested parties to interpret the encoded data. Subfiles are used to convey the specific information. A conformant 2D symbol consists of a combination of a header and one or more subfile identifiers.

### 2/5 — Used to be  great but something happened

I’ve tried getting a hold of the developers. I tried making an account it didn’t work. It says I can’t registration is disabled so I haven’t been able to get a hold of anybody. I haven’t been able to use this thing ever since I don’t know probably the last update I don’t know what happened to it. I just know all of a sudden it stopped working there’s brakes. I mean I’ve spent countless hours trying to fix. It’s really disappointing because I’ve only got one month left in the year, but I will not be renewing this subscription. I have tried multiple ways and multiple people try I’ve had multiple AI. I’ve tried to have helped me this app and the developer are but they used to be amazing. Back on this thing worked I used it all the time and it was flawless and I didn’t even have to question if it was gonna be correct but now I don’t know what’s happened or maybe it’s the new version issue I don’t know what’s going on with it but it disappoints. I really don’t like leaving reviews like this but I’ve exhausted every other possible way that I could find to even let someone know about this.

Using California as example “ZC” then I input the data but get back bad info looks nothing like it should and won’t scan everyplace help

The issue you’re experiencing may be due to an incomplete workflow during the creation process. Please follow these steps to ensure proper setup:

	1.	Select “Add subfile type.” The app will create a new subfile type below the existing “DL” subfile.
	2.	Navigate to the newly created subfile type. Tap the “Subfile Type” field and enter “ZC.” The field should turn green once you press “Enter,” indicating the new subfile is named “ZC.”
	3.	You now have a new subfile type called “ZC.” To create components for it, go to the “Actions” menu and select “Create jurisdiction-specific component.” A new component will be created, but it won’t be assigned to a subfile automatically. To avoid mistakes and ensure it’s explicitly under control, you must manually assign the subfile.
	4.	Scroll to the bottom of the components list, find the newly created component, and explicitly select “ZC” as its subfile.
	5.	In the text field to the right of “ZC,” enter a suffix (e.g., “A”), finalizing the component as “ZCA.”
	6.	To complete the setup, enter the content for your component in the text field next to the suffix (e.g., “BBB”).

This is the closest thing on the market to actually hand coding each segment line by line to AAMVA Spec in order to produce a legitimate AAMVA specd PDF 417 barcode in a specific driver license format. Barcode readers will recognize the formatting as driver license, which is imperative if you want the real deal. This app allows you to simply fill out the information you’d like to display, and generates the code and formats it as well. I’ve been using this app for the last 2 years now and can say that these pdf417 barcodes are identical to what you’d get at a DMV. Indistinguishable, and TESTED. This app paid for itself and was well worth the investment. Not to mention, the developer provides customer service unlike any other company I’ve ever experienced. All my inquiries are answered within hours, and furthermore, recommendations, edits, and changes are willingly and promptly addressed and made on the same day. Unbelievable. Who are these guys? Can’t every app developer provide this level of support???

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your experience with us. It looks like you are having a problem where despite using "ZC" as an example and entering the data, you keep getting the message "ID not provided" We are here to help you resolve this issue.
After you create a new component for a specific jurisdiction, it is important to know that the component initially appears at the bottom of the list. To resolve the "ID not provided" message, we recommend that you scroll to this newly created component. There, use a selector at the beginning of the line to explicitly select the "ZC" subfile This ensures that the "ZC" data is selected correctly.
Until this step is successfully completed, the system will maintain the warning "ID not provided". This warning message is to ensure the accuracy and reliability of your data, especially if you are working with multiple jurisdiction-specific components.
