Widgets are coming soon as part of our future plans. ### 3/5 — Could be better *2026-07-03* I use this app because it’s required by my apartment complex, but it really needs some functionality improvements for safety reasons. Right now, when I pull up to the gate, I have to take out my phone, find the app, wait for it to load, then tap the correct garage door to open. That’s a lot of fumbling while sitting at a gate, sometimes with cars behind me. 3 stars because the app itself is fairly reliable, though it occasionally shows a door as unlocked when it’s actually still locked, which can be a little confusing. It would be much safer and more convenient if the app supported CarPlay, so I could open it right from the screen without touching my phone. Adding an iPhone widget or Shortcuts support would also help — either would let me open the gate with one tap instead of digging through the app each time. **Developer response:** Thanks for your feedback. This new app has new “fixes” that create more issues than they fix. Call support and they direct you to the non-responsive installer who knows less than you about the app. One day certain features work, the next day they do not. We'll happily see if we can help. ### 1/5 — Bad UI - Manage Section *2026-03-19* PDK would have a good product its self if the ui wasn’t so bad. I had about 30 doors with PDK and have now replaced them with a different system because the interface it just so slow and clunky. Many times I will have to reset the app to add users or make changes and it proves unreliable. My staff who uses all says the same thing and it causes serious delays in our multi site business. Was hoping to choose PDK as the brand to scale our multi site business locations, but because of these issues, I just can’t justify it. Instead we transitioned to ubiquiti. Really wanted to like PDK but can’t get over these serious performance issues. **Developer response:** Our Product team would like to understand more about your experience. This will impact my kids who get dropped off when I’m not home since they will not be able to add to their devices for access ### 1/5 — I never receive the access code in my email. *2026-03-02, version 3.0.4* I never receive the access code in my email; I have tried more than 20 times and it still hasn't arrived. ### 1/5 — Signin error *2026-03-01, version 3.0.4* I tried signing up and it kept saying it would send a code to my email and never got the code however I had to download several other apps and do the same I got the email immediately for those. It’s so terrible it forced me to write my first ever review. How do you make an app that only allows you to access doors on ONE device? Half the time it doesn’t work and it’s so inconvenient. If you want to switch devices because again, only ONE device is allowed at a time, it blocks you because you’ve been resetting “too much”. I don’t know how it’s possible to create an app with 1.7 stars, but you guys managed to do it. To the developers: please consider deleting this app immediately. It doesn’t even deserve to be on the App Store. **Developer response:** The PDK Access App can be used by multiple people, but since it's a security app provided by an organization, the organization must invite additional users or grant access to a different device. It continues to fail to connect to the keypad, and frequently discontinues my credentials. Credentials are only cleared/reset if you switch phones, delete them, or restore a backup. I am constantly having to close and relaunch the app in hopes that it will finally let me unlock the door. Distance matters none, I can be standing right by it. There has got to be a better system but unfortunately I’m forced to use this. ### 1/5 — Not updated *2026-07-09, version 3.1.0* The app is vulnerable to communication failures with key and security systems when they connect to lose power and turn back on. They do not regain connection. Perhaps the app needs an update? Still trying to understand what happened. It was working so well, until it wasn’t: “Device offline. Try again later.” Just wished it was reliable. ### 1/5 — Too Many Steps Just to Unlock a Door *2026-06-07* The PDK Access app is frustrating to use for daily access control. One of the biggest missing features is support for home screen widgets or quick-access controls. Having to unlock your phone, open the app, wait for it to load, and then unlock a door is inconvenient, especially when you’re using it multiple times a day. Modern access control apps should offer widgets, lock screen shortcuts, Apple Watch support, or other quick-access options for faster entry. The current experience feels outdated compared to other smart access solutions. Honestly, I don’t understand why my apartment chose this system. Residents use it every day, yet it lacks basic convenience features that would make access faster and easier. I would not recommend this app, and I hope property managers consider better alternatives until these usability issues are addressed. Flimsy instructions for a family of 4. ### 1/5 — I didn’t think it was possible to be worse than Linear *2026-05-11* For an app that is CENTERED around credential management, they do not communicate a single thing about your credentials. If you activate a new device, does it remove your previous device? Up to you and your crystal ball to figure out. How many device transfers do you have left? The UI will conveniently let you know AFTER you have exceeded them and are locked out of your building. Want to contact support? Just click on the “contact support” button that will lead you to a screen that tells you to… contact support?!? It is HARD to make an App that is so bad that it has two stars in the AppStore, but the folks over at PDK have dug deep and managed to do it! **Developer response:** We regret to hear that your experience has been unsatisfactory. Sometimes readers are a bit high on the wall and it makes it hard to scan with my phone in my pocket. Much less fiddly than many of the other access apps as you don’t need to wait for a Bluetooth connection.
