### 4/5 — A good app but room for improvement

*2019-11-14, version 2.8*

Great App and works as it should. Will be perfect for finding hills when out walking!

Slightly disappointed after paying as still seems to show 23km max, even when set at full range. Thankfully a bit further then the OS Maps 15km range.

Agree with some others - be good if you could click the hill and open the OS Hill page or another site for information on the hill.

### 2/5 — Disappointing

*2019-05-14, version 2.7*

Really wanted this to work but it refused to show me anything other than small hills nearby. The settings are supposed to let you scan out to see mountains in the distance but this simply didn’t work, even when I set the ‘number of peaks on display’ to the maximum. It continues to only show me the weeny little hills in the near distance. Feeling duped.

### 3/5 — It’s okay

*2019-01-20, version 2.7*

It’s okay. You can limit range of search in terms of distance but not in terms of height. I’d rather just know tops above a certain height rather than a massive list of tops within a certain distance

### 1/5 — Looking right at a mountain the app doesn’t see

*2018-04-08*

I’m not happy with this app at all. I was looking directly at Mt Lemmon near Tucson AZ and the app didn’t see the mountain. I played with all of the settings and regardless the app would not identify the second tallest mountain in AZ. If I could ask for my money back, I would

### 3/5 — Little trouble in Big Hawaii

*2017-10-07*

I'm on the island of Hawaii and the app doesn't seem to be aware of Mauna Kea. It finds Mauna Loa okay but does not even show Mauna Kea even though I'm in Hilo looking right at it with the range extended all the way.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2017-06-24, version 2.6*

Complete waste of money. Could not recognize peaks directly in front of us and close. Put peaks in the sky. Never been so disappointed in a app I was looking forwarded to using.

### 4/5 — Love this app, although range setting may not be working

*2017-06-01*

Very impressed with peak scanner app for identifying mountains. Works very well in the Denver Colorado and Rocky Mountain national Park area. However, the range adjustment may not be working. Even though I increase the range setting, Peak Scanner still does not show me the names of peaks that are further away. However, once I'm closer to that peak, Peak Scanner correctly identifies and names it. Very cool app. Thank you for creating it. Kurt

### 1/5 — Bad app

*2017-05-22, version 2.6*

This app is terrible. Gives you a completely different location then where you are.

### 1/5 — France is directly overhead!

*2017-02-16*

I've gone through the settings several times, closed the app and restarted my phone. It doesn't recognize local peaks but it is showing dozens of peaks almost directly over my head. They all appear to be in the French alps. It's a little cloudy overhead so maybe they're there and I never noticed them but I suspect that's not the problem. A friend has an app of the same name running on a different operating system and it's brilliant. I had high hopes.

### 1/5 — Jury is out

*2017-01-14*

From our house I can see a 9,800 ft mountain about 30 miles away. The app doesn't pick it up even after adjusting the range option. It also indicates peaks that are not in the direction you point your phone. I'll try it from another location to see if the GPS will respond better but so far not impressed.

### 3/5 — Struggle to use when out and about

*2016-10-27, version 2.5*

Although the peaks are there there are far too many crammed on the screen and therefore impossible to read or identify on phone when they are close together. Any slight movement and they scroll left and right so fast I cannot keep it still (except on a tripod). Sometimes the peaks are the correct ones for where I am but not synchronised with the compass so appear in the wrong place. A snapshot would be much better - taking a photo of the peaks and then the names added on . Maybe I'll try a screenshot but superimposing on a photo would be fantastic. I like the distance slider acts as a rough filter. Non U.K. Peaks would be good but bear in mind even google has some in the wrong place and some countries mapping leaves a lot to be desired.

### 1/5 — Useless

*2016-10-05, version 2.4*

Absolutely useless. As I sit in Georgia pointing at the local mountains, all of them report names in French unrelated to their real names

### 4/5 — A great app to have on the hills

*2016-02-03, version 2.3*

This is a really good app and is brilliant to have on the hills. Would be even better if one could click on a hill to get even further info. Maybe a link to Hill Bagging Website. Works well on an iPhone but not so good on an iPad. The camera view on an iPad is narrow and seems as if it is fixed for an iPhone. Would be great if the whole screen is used on an iPad and that the hill icons could be scaled larger. Is this something that can be changed? Otherwise this is a must have app for hill walkers and climbers.

### 4/5 — Great App

*2016-01-30*

Love this app. I have a nice mountain view and now can find out the names of some of them.
Would be good if it would zoom in to the more distant mountains and filter out ones that are close up.

### 1/5 — I want my money back!

*2016-01-16, version 2.3*

The app only opened long enough to get permission to use location, then crashed, and has never opened again! Quantaq said to delete the app and install it again. Made no difference whatsoever.

### 3/5 — Better than nothing

*2015-12-30*

This app is ok. When I point at a peak in a range of mountains, there are too many other peaks that come up too. I am using peak scanner to help me find the names, so when I have all those surrounding names too it doesn't really help. Also, I would like to know the name of the mountain range.

### 2/5 — Not very Accurate

*2015-11-02, version 2.3*

Cracking good idea for an app. Visually it looks good too. Just far to inaccurate to be of any use. Tried it in several UK mountain areas and doesn't come close. As a previous reviewer has said. The markers float randomly and aren't even that close to being right.
Trying harder and this could be a brilliant tool.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Not worth it

*2025-02-23*

Too random. Just doesn’t really find the mountains.

### 1/5 — Scam

*2023-04-19, version 2.10*

A complete and utter scam. It doesn’t work. I should have read the reviews. I wish I could get my money back.

### 1/5 — The app thinks I’m in a different country!

*2023-01-29, version 2.10*

The app worked fine initially but since changing my phone it thinks I’m in France when I am actually in the UK, I can’t see any way to calibrate the app or to seek help!
Any help would be gratefully received

### 1/5 — Very disappointed

*2021-11-04, version 2.10*

Am looking at a very large hill and app not able to identify it even though am well within 200km range.
Money back please.

### 1/5 — Obs

*2021-10-30*

Poor app. Waste of money. Even make it very difficult to review. Don't recognize known mountains in plain site HUGE battery drain Want refund

### 1/5 — Not at all accurate

*2021-01-23, version 2.9*

I am 3 KM from the largest mountain in the area and it shows it in a different direction, the second largest it does not recognize
This is Switzerland - no good here

### 1/5 — French??

*2020-09-29*

Amazing that my app annotated in French. Have never found a way to set preferred language. Consequentially I don’t have a clue if it’s displays are valid/accurate. Net = useless

### 1/5 — Not even close

*2020-04-01*

Comically inaccurate.

### 1/5 — Can’t get the location service to work

*2018-11-03, version 2.7*

...so the app doesn’t work at all. A disappointment and waste of $,

### 1/5 — In Colorado, but the App apparently isn’t

*2018-06-22, version 2.7*

App is questionable. I live at 5,400’ altitude but app says 1,700’. Mountain out my back door is 14,000’ Mt Evans, but app thinks it is 5,000, and a peak in France. Aguille du Mudi is allegedly to the South of my house...how I wish.

### 5/5 — This is the one for me!

*2019-06-19, version 2.8*

I’ve tried a few apps of this type and I have to say, this is the easiest and most effective to use. No need for any signal. Just take your phone out of your pocket and point! Seems to know all the mountains round me wherever I go. Very pleased!

### 5/5 — Top app for conquering both mountains and hills

*2015-04-11, version 2.0*

Works a treat, keeping you going when slogging up a twisty slope knowing that you're making progress. Great seeing peaks around you when you're finally at the top.

### 5/5 — Mrs

*2015-04-11, version 2.0*

An amazing app. Very easy to use certainly helped me to get my bearings and work out exactly where I was in snowdonia! Very clear and precise, and extremely easy to use. Great for inexperienced explorers and experienced alike. Would definitely say a must have! I certainly would have needed assistance if I didn't have help like this.

### 5/5 — Great app

Really great, very impressed, very accurate

### 5/5 — Really useful and informative

*2015-04-11, version 2.0*

I've moved to a new area recently and go out cycling. It's nice to be able to learn the names of the local terrain in my new environment. Well done.
