### 4/5 — Very useful program

*2018-09-27, version 2.5*

I use the program often with wonderful results. Hope the developer will incorporate Apple Pencil with the program.

### 3/5 — Long time user

*2017-09-28, version 2.5*

Pear Note is my go to note taking app. My chief complaint is that the developers are slow to incorporate updates. What I like best is the ability to upload an outline prior to meeting. Then I can mark each speaker then immediately return during editing.

### 2/5 — Update!

*2017-09-21, version 2.2.4*

I have important info on this app- need iOS 11 update ASAP!

### 2/5 — Hasn't been seriously updated since iOS 4

*2015-06-21, version 2.2.4*

I'm a little sore about this. The developer seems to think that no serious work needs to be done on this app since it was completed somewhere around iOS 4. It's a niche app, so it's good enough, I guess. I feel like I didn't get the value I was expecting.

### 3/5 — Great concept but lots of bugs

*2014-06-17, version 2.2.2*

I have been using Pear Note on a weekly basis for a couple of years now. It is a great little program and helps tremendously when you are taking notes at technical meetings where lots of people are talking at once and you need to capture what everyone says. But, in the last few months, I have had nothing but problems with the app crashing during audio playback. I have tried to work with their tech support to resolve the problem but, none of their fixes have resolved the crashes. I think it may be incompatible with the current iOS. I will probably be forced to find a new note taking app because the crashes are just too frequent for the app to be of much use anymore. Very unfortunate.

### 3/5 — Simple, easy, but lacking vid

*2014-01-02, version 2.2.2*

I'm using this app to organize choreography and costumes for our annual dance show. Wish I had the ability to add video AND photo like the Mac OS version.

### 3/5 — Some pluses some minuses

*2013-10-13, version 2.2*

The plus - is the matching Mac app. Great tool.

The minus - is the poorer sound quality than another I use the most.
Larger file sizes. Pear note labors and expends much time to upload where the competitor I use the most uploads in short seconds .

If the other one I use - more frequently had a Mac app, Pear note would end up in the back page in a folder of old unused apps.

With that said, there are times the Mac app becomes a necessary tool, so at times it is - for now - still in the arsenal.

### 2/5 — Pear Notes

*2013-04-21, version 2.1*

The syncing doesn't work well at all. Glitches and shuts down a lot. Wish it would work like the full Mac version, not worth the price.

### 4/5 — Cool app

*2013-01-16, version 2.0.2*

Great app. It does some awesome things that other integrated recording/note taking apps don't (ie linking your typing with that moment in the audio) but it has some flaws. First and foremost is that its more than twice as expensive as notability. Secondly, you can't sync to all of a Dropbox, just one folder inside. Lastly, I really like to take notes on my notes and there isn't an in app way to listen to a recording while taking notes in a new file.

### 4/5 — Options

*2013-01-16, version 2.0.2*

Ok so I like it I just can't figure out how to delete old notes!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Extremely infrequent updates, lots of bugs

*2016-03-01, version 2.2.4*

Lazy developers are inattentive to improvement suggestions and the apps for mobile are all but useless. When they finally do update the software it introduces MORE bugs, not less. Use Evernote or something else. These clowns are just reaping the app sales at this point for this antiquated piece of junk.

### 1/5 — Abandoned app

*2016-01-22, version 2.2.4*

App is abandoned and of little use now. Falling way behind in features and compatibility.

### 1/5 — iPad version too simple

*2014-07-03, version 2.2.2*

- Unable to record video in iPad version
- A few improvements and updates.
- Impossible to comment in PDFs
- Sync just with dropbox or icloud, no local sync like webdav or FTP (so, if you will use the software for the purpose it was created for, you will notice that is impossible to sync in the cloud because you will use too much space)
- When you open the pdf in full screen you will see a big border in the screen and you cannot do a zoom.

Resuming, the iPad version is incomplete and as you can see the development of this software has stopped, and it will never be better.

### 1/5 — Hate this app, the the mac version

*2013-10-21, version 2.2.1*

Listening to recorded material is broken with this update. Before it was unstable at best. Audio recordings playback well on both laptop and desktop, but have frequent problems on my ios devices. While mac version has volume boost to compensate for lecture volume, ios versions do not. Please make my favorite mac note taking application seamless with my ios devices.

### 1/5 — Waste of time

*2013-08-20, version 2.1*

The app looks great but is sinkhole of time. Took me two hours to learn files had to be saved as pdf files to upload to pear note. Once i was able to get that to work and use it in class it FAILS TO SYNC to dropbox and comes up as unreadable files. Wouldnt be that bad if you could still open in pear note but once it syncs to dropbox it has been AUTOMATICALLY DELETING my records. Basically wasted 3 hours of class time... Maybe the mac version works better.

### 1/5 — Email

*2013-05-17, version 2.1*

Why can't you email the notes and recordings!

Does not sinc well with Dropbox

### 1/5 — Was my goto app

*2013-05-01, version 2.1*

Loved this app until they updated. Now it takes over 5 seconds to update a character. Crashes. Freezes. Never finishes syncing.

### 1/5 — Crashes!! Avoid until this is resolved.

*2013-03-16, version 2.1*

I love this app or at least the version for the Mac. However, the app is unusable and crashes when I go back to edit my notes. To be specific, every time I want to edit a previously written sentence, which was in a bullet point (also on my iPhone 5 if that helps), it simply crashes and continues through this cycle every time. I can write new sentences and cut and paste into the area I want it to go into, but that is absurd as the work around. Also, I did reboot my iPhone just to make sure it wasn't an installation issue.

Avoid this app until this essential piece is fixed. I will give it 4-5 stars once this is accomplished.

It would also be nice on an iOS device to have a night mode where I can write on a dark background with grey or white text. Just another thought for improvement.

Thanks.

### 1/5 — Too many glitches

*2013-03-07, version 2.0.2*

This would be a great utility but the makers have not worked out all the problems. It makes taking notes in class extremely difficult.

### 1/5 — Pearnote

*2012-12-28, version 2.0.2*

Recording quality is very low, the note page is very thin and the word processing features are slim. Notability has the same features but they all work and the product is much better.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Love this App. Please update to be compatible with iOS 11

*2017-10-01, version 2.5*

Please update so that I can continue to use this great app.

Updated Sept 30th

Thank you for updating to be compatible to iOS 11.

### 5/5 — Excellent Note Taking App

*2014-10-10, version 2.2.3*

This application along with its desktop counterpart have become my primary note taking software. As a Physican Assistant student we have a lot of classes and a lot of notes. The ability to audio record, keep track of slide changes, and have plenty of space for note taking is excellent for my note taking style. The best feature is being able to listen to what was said when I typed a note, really good for clarification, or if I wasn't sure of what I heard. The only improvement I wish this software had was the ability to annotate slides. Other than that I feel it is a much better method of note taking than notability or Evernote.

### 5/5 — Best for syncing lectures with slides and notes

*2014-02-03, version 2.2.2*

Tested a few, and this is the best app I've found so far to sync audio lectures with presentation slides and notes! I was confused on how to get it working at first, but the tech guys wrote me back personally and helped sort out basic user questions. I normally give four stars for great, but extra one here for product support. Video would be an awesome addition at some point, though I would need more storage space to use it for every class. (Syncs great with dropbox, may buy more cloud space).

### 5/5 — Outstanding Note Taking App

*2013-12-06, version 2.2.2*

This is easily the best note taking app I've used for college purposes. The ability to sync the lecture audio (recorded in class) with the typed notes you write to the PowerPoint PDF's the professors puts out is amazing. It lets you put all the resources together in an easy to use program that makes learning a lot easier. The interface is clean and uncluttered. There's one or two small bugs that can easily be worked out, but they don't significantly impact the use of the app. If you're in college, this is the app for you!

### 5/5 — Just needs TextExpander support

*2013-10-09, version 2.2*

I'm a long time Pear Note user on the Mac, and love it. Was so excited to see it on the iPad, and now having it on my iPhone is just icing on the cake. I sync all my recordings an notes via Dropbox and it works great. One of the most useful apps on my Mac, and this is a great implementation on IOS. Biggest wish-list item is for TextExpander support on the iOS app...that's a must-have!

### 5/5 — Life-changing app!!!

*2013-08-23, version 2.1*

I love Pear Note. I use it all the time. It is a game changer.

I had a Livescribe pen and used that all the time, but now I use Pear Note instead because I don't have to carry around a notebook and pen, and it's already on my computer (because it syncs with dropbox).

That also means that all my notes are searchable.

Now, if Pear Note would add a feature whereby I could sketch, that would be amazing.

### 5/5 — latest version working fine for me

*2013-07-20, version 2.1*

I use Pearnotes on Macbook Pro and now on iPad mini, it's functioning just fine for me, and syncing via dropbox with a set of notes I began on the Mac Pro. It doesn't update at dropbox as quickly as with the Mac Pro version, but that is OK. It does let me work offline and then sync when connected by wifi. With a little external keyboard, I can work almost as quickly transcribing as with the Mac Pro. So no complaints here. And great price.

### 5/5 — Works Great!

*2013-06-27, version 2.1*

I don't know why everyone started giving this bad reviews. I am using this app nearly every day with dropbox syncing working great between my Mac and my iPad 3rd Gen. It is so easy to use and just works! I tried many different note taking apps and this is still my favorite. The audio recording capability makes it a winner and the integration with voice recorder for Skype is great for recording conference calls while I take notes.

### 5/5 — Pear note

*2013-05-30, version 2.1*

Recently purchase a couple mor expensive note apps, one being Magical note and paid around $7.99 for it. I delegated it within about 15 minutes. This app is simple and easy to use for quick notes. It also syncs with Dropbox. I would like to see more color options on it. I recommend for an easy quick note taking app.

### 5/5 — iOS and Mountain lion

*2012-11-24, version 2.0.2*

Sync my notes on my devices via dropbox. Works beautifully. Love that you can listen to audio notes with screen turned off. Perfect for listening and driving.
