## What is PearGuard?

PearGuard is a privacy-first parental control app that runs entirely on your family's devices. No accounts. No cloud servers. No data collection.
                                                                                                                                                            
  Parents set policies on their iPhone; children's non-iOS devices enforce them locally. Devices sync directly over an end-to-end encrypted peer-to-peer connection whenever they can reach each other, and everything keeps working offline.                                                                      

  FEATURES
  • Screen time limits: daily time budgets and bedtime windows on the child device
  • Per-app policies: allow, block or time-limit individual apps
  • Activity view: see what has been used and when, from the parent device
  • Time requests: child asks for extra time; parent approves or denies
  • Offline-first: policies apply immediately on the child device and sync when devices reconnect
  • No accounts: identity is a cryptographic key pair generated on your device, not tied to an email or phone number
  • No data collection: PeerLoom, Google, Apple and no third party ever sees your family's activity
                                                         
  HOW IT WORKS
  The parent app pairs with the child app using a one-time invite link. After pairing, the two devices exchange signed, encrypted messages directly. There is no intermediary server storing your family's data.

  • Parent device: iPhone running iOS 16 or later
  • Child device: Not applicable to iOS devices

NEW

  -Quick setup by age. Pick Young child, Pre-teen, Teen or Allowlist only and PearGuard composes a sensible starting set of daily limits, category limits and a bedtime, instead of you building it by hand.

  -Time windows per app. Say "games only 4pm to 6pm" or "social blocked during school hours" for a single app, on the days you choose.

  -Free time. Pause every rule for an hour, a few hours or the rest of the day for a sick day, a trip or a reward. Protection turns itself back on automatically.

  -Bonus screen time on demand. Hand out extra time from the dashboard or the child's page, without waiting for your child to ask.

FIXED

  -Overnight bedtimes set for specific days now cover the whole night, instead of blocking the morning and leaving the small hours free.

  -Daily screen time now counts every app your child uses, not only the ones already listed in your rules.

  -Newly installed apps are held for your approval instead of being usable until you next connect.

  -Apps whose name happens to contain "sms", "dialer" or "messaging" are no longer exempt from every rule.

  -Extra time you approve now reaches your child even if their device was offline when you approved it.

  -Pairing no longer sits on "Connecting to child..." forever, and an invite link opened twice no longer counts twice.

  -A blocked child can no longer get back in by opening an invite meant for someone else.

  -A second parent is no longer removed by mistake when two parents share a name.

  -Apps your child uninstalls now disappear from your rules instead of lingering.

  -Activity is filed under the day it actually happened, even across midnight or a timezone difference.

  -Names and messages with accents or emoji are no longer scrambled or dropped.                                                                                  

  -You are now told when protection is switched on but not actually running, or fails to start.

  -Changing a device clock right after switching Wi-Fi on or off is now spotted as tampering.

  -Fixed a blank or frozen screen when opening the app, or returning to it after a while.

  -Alerts and updates are no longer lost when the screen reloads in the background, and the app no longer hangs waiting for a reply that never comes.
