Pedal Diary is a private cycling adventure diary for families and anyone who wants to remember their bike rides without accounts, adverts or social feeds. Built for the whole family, Pedal Diary turns every ride into a little adventure. It helps every rider track where they went, who they rode with, what they saw, how far they travelled and the memories they made along the way. It is not a serious fitness app. There are no leaderboards, no public profiles and no pressure to perform. Pedal Diary celebrates effort, confidence, curiosity and family time on two wheels. Made for family rides Whether the rider has their own iPhone, borrows someone else's, or tucks a cellular iPad safely in a backpack, Pedal Diary is designed to make every ride feel like theirs. Start a ride, lock the screen, and let the adventure unfold. When the ride is finished, you can save it as a friendly diary entry, add companions, remember funny moments, record muddy bits, and build up your own Hall of Fame. It is off by default, encrypted, and does not use the internet. Two riders can see each other's ride trail live when cycling side by side. Sharing a phone? No problem. Not everyone has their own iPhone, so Pedal Diary works around real family life. Use a family member's iPhone in a backpack, ride alongside with your own device, or use a cellular iPad if that's what you have to hand. The point is the ride, the memory and the confidence it creates — not whose device recorded it. Good to know: recording a ride needs GPS. Every iPhone has it, and so do Wi-Fi + Cellular iPads — and these work without a SIM or data plan. Wi-Fi-only iPads don't have GPS, so they can't record a route, though they can still open Pedal Diary to look back on saved rides. Privacy first Pedal Diary has no servers for your ride data, so we cannot collect, transmit or store it. Rides are saved on your device and can sync privately through your own iCloud. Location is used while recording a ride and, if weather is enabled, briefly to fetch the local forecast. You can turn weather off in the grown-up area. There are no adverts, no analytics, no third-party tracking and no social sharing built in. A warm adventure log, not a fitness app Pedal Diary is for families who care more about memories than metrics. It is for first rides, muddy shortcuts, sunny park loops, family cycle paths, little achievements and big smiles. The big new addition: ride buddies can now TALK to each other by voice while you cycle together — lovely for a grown-up and child riding side by side. We built this feature for our own family, who wear hearing aids, so it works with hearing aids, AirPods and other headphones. • Voice chat with your ride buddy — private and safe. A grown-up turns it on, it only works with headphones or hearing aids (never the phone's loudspeaker), and your phones talk straight to each other over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. Nothing is recorded and nothing goes over the internet. • Quicker, friendlier way to connect with a ride buddy, with your favourite buddies just a tap away. • Clearer speech, with wind-noise filtering for breezy rides. • The usual polish and reliability improvements under the hood. As always: no adverts, no accounts, no tracking — just you, your bike and your buddy. ### 6.0 — 2026-06-23 We've polished Pedal Diary to make it easier to read and even nicer to use — especially on smaller iPhones and when you turn the text size up. • Big-text friendly throughout: ride titles, badges, your ride summary and the live map now stay neat and fully readable, with nothing cut off or squashed. • A friendly countdown gently counts you in at the start of every ride. • Choosing photos for a ride is clearer and simpler. • Chosen your own background photo? It now sits perfectly behind your ride, whether it's portrait or landscape. As always, every ride stays completely private to you. Happy cycling! ### 5.0 — 2026-06-01 We're now called Pedal Diary! Same warm cycling adventures, friendlier name. All your saved rides, photos, badges and profile carry across — you don't need to do a thing.
