### 2/5 — Flop

*2026-09-08, version 2.1.1*

Great idea but hangs loading pedal library. Pedal playground works much better.

### 4/5 — Very useful

*2026-05-15, version 2.1.1*

Very good idea and it’s executed quite well. One issue is the Pedaltrain nano+ board approximation is just not the right size for me. + some pedals are kinda noticeably wrong. For example, some pedals that are in the same range (and therefore the same enclosure size) are clearly different in the app when placed next to eachother.

### 2/5 — Please update the app.

*2026-02-07, version 2.1.1*

2-6-26. Please update the app. Pedals used to be updated regularly. It’s been glitchy and terrible since the last update.

### 4/5 — Updated Needed

*2026-01-12, version 2.1.1*

Currently missing some new pedals/companies like Jet Pedals Unity 6 or solodallas. i tried a workaround by placing the sticky note feature in the spot of a missing pedal because it looks like you can change the size of the note but nothing changes except the font for me. fixing the note feature and maybe creating the option to create and label blocks as pedals that aren’t yet in the library would be a nice addition. Thanks for making a great app to dream up new boards!

### 4/5 — Really brilliant but a little quirky

*2025-10-20, version 2.1.1*

This is a brilliantly useful app and not talked about enough in guitar pedal circles. I’ve deducted a star as it’s definitely a quirky app and a bit too easy to accidentally move something. BUT… and it’s a big but…. It’s amazing for sketching out idea for new pedal orders and figuring out if they’ll fit as you hoped. I love the fact they keep the pedal catalogue up to date. A terrific app.

### 4/5 — I use this app everyday.

*2025-10-13, version 2.1.1*

Please can we have the “does it doom?” range of pedals added. Hypercoven and Walpurgis Vol 2 to start with.

### 4/5 — Great and useful

*2025-10-02, version 2.1.1*

This app was great then changed and took forever to work to the point it was useless. Glad to say as of Oct 2025 this app is great and works like a dream again. Sure it’s pedal train centric and it’s missing a few pedals but for 90% of the time it’s just what I needed. Recommended.

### 4/5 — Updated Needed

*2025-09-28, version 2.1.0*

Current version is not working with the new IOS update. can’t load anything at the moment. i do prefer this app over websites as i can save and recall ideas, and the devs seem to update pretty often as new pedals come to relevancy. i hope an update comes soon!

### 1/5 — DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME

*2025-09-27, version 2.1.0*

If I could rate this as a 0 rating I would. I have been using the app the last 18 months. Created and saved multiple board setups. I own a Pedaltrain Classic 2. I am trying to build a good solo acoustic board. I used this app to plan and buy pedals to build the board I need. The last 3 weeks, the app doesn’t load any of my saved board layouts. It won’t load new pedals or create a new board or load any saved board layouts. I deleted every saved layout in case I was seeing a memory problem on my IPad. I deleted the app and reloaded. I still can’t load any saved layouts or create new layouts. The app is totally USELESS. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME. If the app doesn’t work, how good will you support be?

### 1/5 — They destroyed it

*2025-09-26, version 2.1.0*

The rebuild completely broke the app. It is now unusable. All my prayer data is gone. I can’t even create a new pedalboard. What on earth were they thinking?

### 4/5 — Good…

*2025-09-19, version 2.1.0*

I do like this app. I wish Pedaltrain would add more pedals quicker or give us the ability to add them ourselves. I understand it suppose to feature Pedaltrain products but it would be nice to fully build out a board with the pedals you want. I also think it is a missed opportunity for Pedaltrain to sell their pedal boards and accessories through the app.

Lastly it is an opportunity to connect a fun YouTube channel teaching how to build out, wire cleanly, design their pedalboard.

All that set aside, I do like what is there and it is fun. Yea if you read the review about the older version being better… it was in its own way. The new one charming.

### 1/5 — Painful

*2025-08-17, version 2.1.0*

Whoever designed this new version doesn't know the first thing about application development. When a user creates something, they need to be able to save it and then recall it. The menu pretends like you can do this, but when you load an edited layout, there is no way to save edits. You have to start all over every time. In other words, if you make the slightest adjustment to an existing layout, you can't save that layout. You have to create a new one every time. What a clown show.

### 1/5 — Tech Problems

*2025-07-15, version 2.1.0*

Having designed several different pedal boards it is sadly frustrating that when you try to reload them you can’t. All you have is a partial screen shot of about half of the board you previously designed. Clearly has a bug problem which is a shame as it’s a really useful app for designing and choosing your ideal pedalboard. I found the original version much more user friendly which raises the question, if it ain’t broke…

### 3/5 — 2025 Update Issues adding MXR pedals

*2025-06-28, version 2.1.0*

I’m all of a sudden no longer able to see MXR pedals when I add them, specifically the smaller phasers (Phase 95, etc.)

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Help!

*2026-02-06, version 2.1.1*

It’s not loading today all the sudden. Is there an update? Can you fix it? Thanks!

### 1/5 — Just keeps getting worse

*2025-12-02, version 2.1.1*

The original version wasn’t great but it worked alright. The new version is glitchy, rarely works, and the pedals aren’t even sized right half the time. The same company that uses the same enclosure for different pedals (ex. MXR Phase 100, Classic 108 Fuzz and Slash fuzz are all different sizes in the app but the same enclosure in real life). It’s just glitchy and poorly executed.

### 1/5 — Literally just stopped working

*2025-10-01, version 2.1.1*

Tried uninstalling, closing the app from App Switcher, all that. Was working pretty decently up until a few weeks ago and now none of the functions work.

Press the board button, screen goes black. Try to add a pedal and the app beach balls.

I’ve been resorting to the website version in the meantime.

### 1/5 — Quit Working!

*2025-10-01, version 2.1.0*

I used to love it, but you had to keel it. Why?

### 1/5 — Horrible

*2025-09-30, version 2.1.0*

The original version of this app was perfectly usable and made sense. The new version is one of the worst designed apps I’ve ever seen and it doesn’t even work anymore, whenever I try to pick a pedalboard it just goes to a black screen. Why is there a giant background for you to accidentally move the pedalboard around? The controls are awful.

### 1/5 — Glitchy and still not updated

*2025-09-30, version 2.1.0*

Obviously you can’t have every model of every pedal from every brand but they haven’t added too many current mainstream offerings, sizes of pedals aren’t accurate and the app crashes CONSTANTLY. It’s always glitchy where I can’t move the screen, can’t choose a new board, can’t add pedals. The old version was at least useable. This was a massive downgrade and I still can’t add a D’Addario tuner

### 1/5 — Used to be ok-ish now it just doesn’t work

*2025-09-29, version 2.1.0*

It used to have some quirks but now it’s just unusable. Whenever I press to add a pedalboard it turns black then crashes. I even tried to redownload it but it keeps happening.

### 1/5 — Abysmal App for a Great Company

*2025-09-29, version 2.1.0*

This is an abysmal app. As a long time Pedaltrain product user, this is one of the buggiest and sloppiest apps I’ve ever used. I’ve tried so hard to make this app work for me, but it is just so inconsistent and awkward in almost every application. It crashes all the time, it often fails to load saved board layouts, it is behind on highly popular and current pedal models, its background graphics are laughably bad, and it is hopelessly unreliable. Today, the app just decided it wouldn’t load anything whatsoever no matter how many times I restarted the app. That was the last straw for me. I hope the designers finally extinguish this dumpster fire, because right now, this app is one of the worst out there for layout planning. I don’t hold out much hope of an app fix; The last “update” might have fixed a few previous issues, but in my opinion, it only just introduced a fresh new set of problems. I still love Pedaltrain boards and their cases, but this app is just awful. Until fixed, I recommend you download a different pedalboard planner app!

### 1/5 — Don’t waste your time

*2025-09-29, version 2.1.0*

It was good in the past, it came in handy when planning and purchasing your pedal board, now it won’t load anything. Disappointed.

### 1/5 — Not working

*2025-09-27, version 2.1.0*

Not working. I re- installed this app, it used to work, now it doesn’t, too bad, I used to like it.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Does what I need

*2025-12-05, version 2.1.1*

This app works well to decide what size board I need for my build.
A couple of missing pedals: Darkglass Kaamos, DOD FX25

### 5/5 — Good app

*2025-10-05, version 2.1.1*

Some of the reviews for this app seem to be due to user error. The app is intuitive and straightforward, making it easy to use. Any bugs I’ve encountered in the past have been fixed, just like in any other app. I’ve been using it on and off for several years. Oh, and it’s also FREE.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-09-25, version 2.1.0*

Awesome idea!!! Time saver - all though -addicting!!

I like the fact that you can save your designs,
And if needed, or wanted, open them up - make adjustments and save us a new file!

### 5/5 — Love this, please update

*2025-09-25, version 2.1.0*

Easy to use app, love everything about it. Please update for newest iOS, board won’t load, app crashes everytime.

### 5/5 — Pedalboard planner

*2025-09-25, version 2.1.0*

Always worked fine. Not perfect but ok

### 5/5 — fun

*2025-07-12, version 2.1.0*

i’ve wasted so much time over the years with this, the constant additions are awesome. good work and thanks for

### 5/5 — Great idea, needs fixing

*2024-12-14, version 2.1.0*

This used to be an extremely useful app to plan a pedalboard. However, it no longer saves and loads layouts since the last update. I will happily rate this 5 stars once the bugs have been fixed.

### 5/5 — Old Version Was Consistent ***Updated

*2024-09-17, version 2.0.2*

New update came out, make sure you hit settings to see tools. The new update fixes all the glitchy things that have been going on with the new version of the app. I think the new version is great, it allows you to have multiple boards on same edit. It gives you dimension & there’s an option to add margin for the space needed between pedals. You can create a visible signal path & add multiple pedals from the search page into the editor without having to go back and forth. Thanks for fixing the bugs! If you guys could add the Red Panda Context version 1 & the Xotic Volume pedal in I’d give it 7 stars in my heart. ✌︎(‘ω’) ……Old review for reference…. With the update I lost my old save files, which is not too big of a deal, but also probably is a pointer for communication or further changes. The bigger deal is that only about 20% of the time does the app work & when it does everything is so sensitive & it glitches a lot. I do appreciate the ability to have more room to play with. You could have multiple boards set up on the same save file which is really cool. There’s a lot of great features compared to the OG & I can tell there was a lot of effort put into the update, but it just doesn’t work most of the time or is hard to use when it does. Hopefully they will be able to trouble shoot soon.

### 5/5 — Better than before

*2024-08-25, version 2.0.0*

Now a lot more customisable. Takes a bit of playing to get used to it. Only down side is my board from the last version was no where to be seen. Had to redo it.

### 5/5 — Great and Free!

*2024-03-03*

It is grrreat, most pedals are there and if not they have a “blank pedal” add on. It is easy to use and had most of my pedals to the tee. I just wish it had cables there as well, so that I can see my FX order. But hey it is free so it gets 5 stars!
