It has been very difficult to say goodbye to the actual “paper” because of course we had them every day for our entire life and it’s sad to see that go. Things change and we must adapt I suppose. You put out a good paper, very informative on local happenings and not politically over the top which I so appreciate after these last couple years felt like a guy with a giant hand standing in front of you and doing the Moe(stooges) slap Far Right SLAP!, Far Left SLAP! back and forth across your face and my head is still ringin’! Thanks for your hard work and keeping it up throughout the PAN! Thanks PDN! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Why is everything in two columns?! *2023-08-18, version 3.8.06* Seriously! Most articles are more than a page long so you are constantly scrolling up and down to read an article because everything is in two columns. It's as if the people who own an run the news service don’t use the app! ### 1/5 — Overall crappy source for local news *2023-02-07, version 3.6.13* Poorly organized, difficult to navigate, newspapers have been around for hundreds of years and this app cannot even get those basics right. There is no local calendar of events to follow, Marketplace is full of spammy ads, there is no community feel in this news app. The events that appear as articles HAVE NO DATES! Today for example, open the app and see caroling today as the headline of an article. There is no date! It was yesterday! This is the most unhelpful local news source! If you opt out of seeing sports under my news you still see sports. ### 2/5 — Poor local news source *2023-04-28* Navigation is terrible, cannot filter so you only see one town’s articles. Articles are not timely, no actual timestamps so you can’t tell when an article was written or when an event was scheduled. There is no sports or events calendar. This new source doesn’t care about its community. ### 2/5 — PDN ONLINE *2022-02-28, version 3.5.06* The site is clunky and hard to navigate. ### 3/5 — Overall Pretty Good *2025-04-19* The PDN app is a basic, no frills reader that allows me to follow local news as easily as I can news from major outlets online. One complaint - and I can’t claim any documented proof of this - is that it seems that there are stories that show up in their hard copy edition before making it to the digital edition. Another issue is that it also seems that PDN puts some stories up on Facebook before (or without?) making them available in the app. The problem there is that my PDN login info doesn’t save via that portal, so I eventually hit the ‘free story limit’, and have to go through a series of steps to login to my PDN account. Ultimately, it’s better than generating a lot of solid, albeit recyclable, waste, but it’s not as good as it could be. UPDATE: Two years on the same issues persist except now I also receive an email with stories that have not yet appeared in the app. ### 3/5 — Local news *2023-04-04* It is so important to know, to the best of our ability, the truth about news and local events. Unfortunately news reporting is largely influenced by the world view of the reporting organization. The Marketplace section is extremely disappointing-no local items ? Its all ads for Kratom and CBD products,, very weird. I don’t have a PC so I found it difficult to print the crosswords but Support walked me through it, and it works. When I open The NY Times, it takes me immediately to the front page.
