Link to leaderboard and standings no longer works. Not sure if scoring is updating. APP SUPPORT link opens 404 page! A great practice app but not a game. The app doesn't track the game until quit. So you'd have to play in one session. Pausing for an extended period resets the app. Piece probabilities for Game and Campaign are different; e.g., in pentix you get one cross for every ten lines in Campaign, and reverse of that trend in Game. ### 3/5 — Much prefer older version *2021-03-31* I wish I hadn’t updated the app to 3.0.2. The new version is more restrictive - you can’t swap pieces out and fined a lot for trying. You also can’t see your score. And the drop down motion has annoying new visuals. I loved this app but don’t enjoy the new version. Please revert back to the old one 💔 ### 4/5 — Drop function needs improvement *2021-03-23, version 3.0.2* I love this game, it’s the best version of Pentix and it’s even superseded Tetris for me. However my only gripe is that they keep changing the drop function. First it was no swipe but two buttons on either side of the screen. This worked well but the recent upgrade got rid of those buttons and made it a swipe drop which is about 80% reliable and moved the drop button to the top of the screen where your thumbs can’t reach and is not intuitive to use. Please decide on a layout and make sure it works all the time so I can get my score up!!! Other than that, fabulous and addictive. ### 2/5 — Great design with implementation problems *2021-01-29, version 3.0.2* Late January 2021 update: scoring is still not restored making this app a great practice app but not a game. Scores are not shown and won't log or update the board Earlier post redesign review: Not only the version upgrade has wiped off my previous score card, the worst part of this implementation is that it doesn't track the game! So you'd have to play in one session. +Pausing for an extended period resets the app. And unlike previous version, resetting the app certainly had no recollection you were even there. +Then, as for bugs the app crashes every time computer loses in 2-player Quad game. Haven't tried playing full or pentix against computer. +Campaign doesn't speed up and even in Advanced mode remains lame. Then it broke on my iPad with the IOS 14 upgrade. Now they completely redesigned. It only uses 3/4 of the screen now so it’s even tinier. They moved the hold button to the left side? How am I supposed to play with 1 hand now? If you were trying to get me to find a new game, congrats. I have it 2 stars since there still aren’t ads although shrinking the board makes me believe that ads are the next change coming. ### 4/5 — New update 1/6/21 *2021-01-07, version 3.0* I play this game for hours a day.. I’m finding the new update hard to get used to. The interactions with the pieces need some work. Previously you could easily drag pieces around and place them, now they seem to randomly slam to the bottom, causing them to go where I didn’t want them too, it’s very frustrating. I turned all of the “settings” off immediately too (ghost pieces, etc.) ### 3/5 — Greg *2021-01-06* The new version is dreadful. His can I go back to the previous version which has my high scores, etc. ### 4/5 — Is this the end? *2019-10-12* Have been playing this for years and years and love it, despite never having figured out how to listen to own music or sound. With iPhone Xs I’m experiencing the same issue as the recent reviewer. The screen sizing is wrong. It’s still playable (at early levels, at any rate), but at little more than a quarter of the screen size, this may be the end. ### 3/5 — Pentix *2014-12-28* Yea love this game but why does it have to speed up on the Marathon when you get up to 1000 points. Seem so unfair and frustrating. But otherwise great fun. ### 4/5 — This 'TETRIS' game is a good time-waster! *2014-10-28, version 1.6.3* I have had a lot of fun with this game. I rated it four stars because I have difficulty with 2 of the 3 game modes. I'm older and my fingers shake sometimes. So I can only play one mode in order to keep from feeling like a 'failure.' I'm stating a fact about my skill level, and not about 'bugs' in the game design... It was simply not designed for older people who might have some physical limitations. A possible cure for the need to be met, might be another mode for those 'seniors' who love 'tetris' type games but just need some 'twist' not particularly designed for the young and spry! You design techies out there just give this opinion some consideration, out of respect for your elders... Please.??? ### 4/5 — pentix - *2014-08-18* great game, very tetris like but with some variations - good use a few minor tweaks and more options, perhaps an updated look with a multiplayer option. I was addicted to Tetris before but when I tried this game I was hooked and Tetris now seems incredibly boring. The only thing I don't like is how I can't play music in the background on my iPhone while playing this game. when I try to turn it on the game turns it back off no matter what I try to do. Pieces frequently shift when dropped, not falling into the displayed target space! Not enjoyable at all! Save your money! This continues to be the WORST game that I have on my iPad! I keep hoping that there will be an update to fix all the problems but that has yet to happen! If you want a Tetris game, this is NOT it! Avoid like the plague!! There’s no apparent rhyme or reason as to when a “surprise” is sent (as far as I can tell, if you play the computer it can screw with your board by clearing lines, but if you clear lines it does nothing to the computer’s board). ### 1/5 — Absolute rubbish *2015-03-30* 1star, just because you have to tap one. The music is awful but lucky you can switch it off. I wander who choose the music?????? I regret spending money on this app. I make a point to pay for apps so that this glitchy stuff is worked out. At the App Store I paid for ad removal time & time again but they keep coming back. You don't have to worry about being fast like in Tetris, the challenge here is in the puzzle. These pieces will not fit together easily! In particular the + shaped piece is really annoying. And because there's so many more piece types, I wouldn't rely on getting the line piece all the time! If you want a challenging but fun puzzle game, this will do it. It's not only addicting to children it's addicting to grown ups. My mum has the app and she is addicted to it. You need to be good at maths and shapes.
