### 2/5 — Out of date and not user friendly

*2025-06-03, version 3.2.0*

Used for years - I kept with them even after they went subscription. Then I realized there were much better options out there for much less money. This did not upgrade over all the years I used it, didn't allow auto uploads from common sites, and wasn't great for sharing with family spent weeks moving all my recipes and haven't regretted it.

### 4/5 — i’m dependent but please update

*2025-03-15, version 3.2.0*

I’ve been using this for years and there is nothing else that works so well for my life. It has everything I need but I wish they would update it more frequently for bug fixes. It used to be free and now it’s a subscription model, which made me hopeful. It’s hard to recommend it because I always have to give a caveat.

### 3/5 — Is anyone updating the app?

*2025-02-25, version 3.2.0*

I have been using this program for years. And it seems that since they started charging money that the app doesn’t ever get updated. I’m so tired of having to delete and reinstall the program. And if you are in a store and your WiFi is bad, the program keeps crashing. And my devices aren’t syncing anymore. I have over 3,000 recipes in the program, and don’t want to transfer to another program. I wish this is could be a better review.

### 2/5 — Needs to be updated

*2025-01-16, version 3.2.0*

App needs to be updated especially now that there is a monthly charge. The sorting of the shopping list has always had some opportunities but it doesn’t even sort “shredded cheese” into the cheese section. Either make free again or make some improvements! I have had Pepperplate for years but that may have to end.

### 3/5 — Keeps crashing

*2024-11-21, version 3.2.0*

I have had this app for years and have loved it. The last couple of days it keeps closing out as soon as I open it. Don’t know what the deal is.

### 3/5 — Keeps freezing

*2024-11-05, version 3.2.0*

Great App but it keeps freezing or closing out-I tried to let them know a while back but they blamed it on me. I wish it would get fixed-it’s been happening for close to three years!

### 3/5 — It’s ok

*2024-06-02, version 3.2.0*

It’s ok, but there is no way to submit errors or suggestions. Recently it’s taking my pictures and displaying them outside the boarders, it looks stupid and there is no way to submit an error. I also agree that this should be a one time purchase. All the content is mine and it’s backed up by my iCloud. If this app was getting frequent updates or something than maybe I would understand the membership fees, but it’s been the same since the day I installed it, worse recently to be honest.

### 5/5 — Awesome App

*2024-04-30, version 3.2.0*

This app is all I use for recipes, menus planning and shopping list.

I love the way it syncs to all devices with the app.

Make it interact with Siri is my only wish.

### 2/5 — Not worth a monthly subscription

*2024-04-20, version 3.2.0*

This app should be a one time purchase ... not worth $2.99 per month but it works to store recipes and and has a nice shopping list feature, although the shopping list isn't "smart" enough to recognize a lot of items and just sorts them as "unsorted items". App needs work. I canceled my subscription. A lot of other apps that either offer a free version or are only a one time purchase.

### 5/5 — Great App for organizing meals and shopping

*2024-03-18, version 3.2.0*

This is a great app for organizing meals and shopping. It would be even better if you would allow members (make this a club!) the ability to extend an introductory offer for a year to friends and family. I would love to be able to share recipes easily with others in my community.

Speech to text options on my iPad make it easy to import recipes from books, but it would be nice to share that work load with friends and family. Otherwise I like that importing recipes from your supported sites is easy on the web version.

And shopping is much easier as well with the ease of generating lists from recipes. Great App.

### 2/5 — Browser vs. App - BIG Difference

*2024-03-15, version 3.2.0*

OMG, why does the browser version of pepperplate (Mac O/S, Safari) have such useless search capabilities. I can type a recipe name in EXACTLY and find no results returned in the browser version. It's essentially useless if you're trying to hunt down a recipe. For a paid app, this is ridiculous. The App version (iPhone) works reasonably well, but the import function, via URL, only works in the browser version. So you have funcational limits in the app version, and useless search results in the web version. Again, for a paid app. Developers, please correct, or at least explain, why search results are so different/wrong in the web version. I'm considering manually extracting the recipes I care about and moving to another app, which is a shame because I've been tucking away recipes in Pepperplate for serveral years. But what's the point if I can't find them half the time?!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — My recipes keep multiplying

*2026-02-04, version 3.2.0*

Frustrating when you have 25 of the same recipe. Seems like they would be on top of there organization a little better. I cannot delete them, they just appear again. Second most frustrating thing is my recipes are getting lost 😭. Don’t trust this app.

### 1/5 — My recipes keep multiplying

*2025-12-24, version 3.2.0*

Frustrating when you have 25 of the same recipe. Seems like they would be on top of there organization a little better.

### 1/5 — No update

*2025-01-17, version 3.2.0*

This is a flagrant passive income play for the developer. The app is no longer competitive with its near peer which is not subscription based. I’ve been using the app for more than 12 yrs. No significant changes since then.

### 1/5 — Stole recipes

*2024-12-20, version 3.2.0*

I’ve used since it was free and I can’t get my recipes off unless I pay for the subscription. Absolutely rubbish

### 1/5 — Can’t sign in

*2024-08-30, version 3.2.0*

I’ve tried to sign in but I forgot my login information. Unfortunately there is nothing on the app to let you update your login. There’s no menu page or anything. 👎🏻. You’re out of luck if you forget your password.

### 1/5 — Crashing as soon as I open it.

*2024-06-27, version 3.2.0*

I have loved this app until a couple weeks ago. Now, every time I open it, it crashes immediately. I cannot get it to open and stay open.

### 1/5 — Can’t cancel Subscription

*2024-06-02, version 3.2.0*

I have tried everything to cancel this subscription! There is no option on the app to do so. You can’t even email or call them to cancel the app!

I’m hoping that between apple and this post the my app subscription will be canceled. If not I’ll do it via my credit card by stopping payment.

Very disappointing! The app works well and has been useful but I’m not happy about not being able to cancel the subscription.

### 1/5 — Constantly crashes

*2024-04-17*

I’ve been using Pepperplate for ages but on the last year or so I have nothing but problems with the app crashing every time I use it. If I try to print out one of my recipes, it crashes; if I scroll down a little too quickly, it crashes. I used to love the ease with which I could store and use this app but ever since they started charging it seems to be nothing but problems. I’m very disappointed and searching for another more reliable way to save all of my recipes.

### 1/5 — Very disappointed!

*2024-04-05, version 3.2.0*

I have tried OVER and OVER again to get assistance, as I suddenly cannot add or edit recipes. I have done all the trouble shooting tricks, and Pepperplate tried to blame my storage on my device. I have over 200 GB of space, so that is not the issue. They then said they see the problem, and will fix it. NOPE, nothing has been done, and they haven’t reached out, but the SURE take the monthly premium from my account. This is robbery , as far as I’m concerned.

### 1/5 — Used for several years already

*2024-03-03, version 3.2.0*

It used to be good until they decided to charge for it. It combines items on the shopping list but won’t let me un-combine them if I choose to. An example…I added pear and pear nectar to the shopping list. It combined them as pears.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Great app

*2026-08-20, version 3.2.0*

I love this app, but what really stands out as the customer service. It’s truly top notch! Anytime I have a question or run into an issue. I get a quick response. Unlike so many other apps where you can never seem to get a response, Pepperplate is always there when you need help. It makes such a difference knowing there’s a team that actually cares about it’s users!

### 5/5 — Our go-to place for our recipes

*2025-12-20, version 3.2.0*

We’ve been using Pepperplate for years. It is our go-to for organizing recipes. We use it for shopping lists and menus. Everything from Thanksgiving to a small dinner party. We love the ability to import recipes seamlessly from so many website sources. And easy to add others manually. We highly recommend this app.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-12-04, version 3.2.0*

I’ve been using this app for more than 10 years. Use it almost daily, my mom and I share recipes across it, build grocery lists grab new recipes with the browser plugin when it’s available. Never have I had an issue.

Love it

### 5/5 — Simple but useful

*2025-12-02, version 3.2.0*

I have used Pepperplate for years. It does exactly what I need, holds my recipes. It doesn’t have some of the bells and whistles but you can construct a menu and meal plans and generate a shopping list. That’s exactly what I need. No outrageous ongoing fees.

### 5/5 — Are you guys still there?

*2025-11-08, version 3.2.0*

I have been using this app for years! I love it, but maybe some updates are due? There are so many websites that are not compatible.

### 5/5 — Solid, reliable and functional

*2025-10-30, version 3.2.0*

I have used this app longer than I can remember. I am an avid cook and recipe collector. For me, this does exactly what I need it to do. Keeps my recipes, easy to find and use while cooking. Easy cut and paste new recipes. Had trouble a few years ago and tech support was super helpful. My app currently has 887 recipes.

### 5/5 — Essential in meal planning

*2025-10-20, version 3.2.0*

I’ve had this app for years and although it hasn’t changed much I never really used it to its full potential, only using it to store recipes. Now after adding a large catalogue of recipes I use it to plan my meals for the month ahead and create my shopping list automatically saving time and money. My kids can view what’s on the planner and view instructions easily to prepare the meal themselves when needed. I love it

### 5/5 — Fantastic

*2025-08-20, version 3.2.0*

Pepper plate was the first step I ever bought on my eyes or my iPad or my first iPhone. I’m not sure it’s fantastic. It’s so easy to use easy easy to use. I always recommend it to everybody. I don’t know why you use anything else. It’s my favorite.

### 5/5 — I have used this app nearly every day for over a decade

*2025-07-19, version 3.2.0*

It’s simple, and it works, and it suits me very well. And yes, I have tried other recipe collection apps out there. This one is just my jam. Does it have limitations? Sure. But I find it such a dependable and easy part of my kitchen repertoire that I can’t imagine life without it. Happy to shell out the monthly subscription fee.

### 5/5 — Easy to Use

*2025-03-15, version 3.2.0*

This app is easy to use that helps me keep my recipes all in one place. I’ve been using it for years and it’s great.
