## What is Percentage Calculator?

Percentages, tips, sales tax and margins. Worked out live, with the working shown.

Type a number and the answer is already there. No Calculate button, no waiting.

EIGHT PERCENTAGE MODES
• What is X% of a number
• Percentage change from one value to another
• X is what percent of Y
• Increase a number by a percentage
• Decrease a number by a percentage
• Reverse an increase: find the value before it went up
• Reverse a decrease: find the value before it came down
• Turn a fraction into a percentage

TIPS, SPLIT ANY WAY YOU LIKE
• Tip by percentage, or by a flat amount
• Split between 1 and 50 people, with the per-person total
• Tip on the bill before tax, not on the taxed total
• Handle a service charge that is already on the bill
• Work backwards from the total you actually paid
• Five rounding rules: round the tip up, the total up, the total to the nearest, or each person's share up. It remembers which one you use.

SALES TAX AND VAT
• Type any rate, to four decimal places
• The tax and the taxed total solve as you type
• Your rate is remembered between launches
• See what the tax works out to as a share of the final total

MARGIN AND MARKUP, ON SCREEN TOGETHER
Most calculators make you choose one or the other. This one always shows both.
