The inability to switch between vertical scrolling and horizontal paging also seems odd. But worst of all, there currently seems to be no find-in-book functionality (that I can find). I see that exists on the web app, so presumably the possibility exists; I hope it can be rolled out to the app itself. ### 2/5 — Lack of payment options for Indian users. *2026-04-20* I am not able to pay through my credit card, probably because it’s charging 0 GBP instead of rupees. There is now trouble with the functions of the app like highlighting and taking notes which have made it frustrating. ### 3/5 — Could use a lot of improvement *2026-02-18, version 6.7.9* Great content but the mobile and iPad apps don’t allow searching within books or copy/pasting even just a little bit, which is really annoying when you just want to copy a short quotation into your paper or the title of a reference so you can look it up. Given that it’s a digital format these things ought to be possible, otherwise other than ease of access it’s not really that much more convenient than a paper book in a lot of ways, without the benefit of being easier to physically pick up and flick through. ### 3/5 — Not bad *2026-01-28, version 6.7.8* It would be a lot better if the text to speech picked up where you left off. ### 3/5 — Great Idea - Needs Refining Urgently *2025-12-11, version 6.7.2* Perlego is a brilliant idea. Having a vast array of often very expensive books at your fingertips for a reasonable fee is superb. The app however is not. It appears they are just hosting the web version on the app and so it’s very slow. The assistive reader is a priceless feature allowing one to really ‘lock in’ - I use it all the time to shut out distractions. Again, however, it is woefully glitchy and sometimes doesn’t load. Once the app is improved, 5 stars it will be. ### 4/5 — Need update on live activities *2025-11-12, version 6.7.0* Hello, i would like to give a suggestion; it will be really nice if you can activate the live activities feature (such as iphone’s timer) because i am reading in between my rest sessions at the gym. This update will be of a tremendous help; thanks for the great app! ### 2/5 — Not For Me *2025-09-16, version 6.5.7* I didn’t find value in the app, couldn’t find any of the books I wanted, so tried to explore books based on a topics I was interested in, saved about 10 books to read, couldn’t get into any of them. The type of books available seem dry or dense to read. I dislike apps that require you to use the web version for some functions like setting up a bookshelf. Why have a password then make me wait for a code via email, the extra step seems unnecessary. The inability to remove card details when you don’t have an active subscriptions, this behaviour seems predatory, unnecessary access to information without the owners control seems intentional. Having a dud card that you can redirect this to would be your best option. Concerns about deleting account but card details still available may make it difficult to access account despite extra charges even if there is a cancellation of subscription. Couldn’t cancel via app another web version function. ### 3/5 — Poor Academic Functionality *2025-08-22, version 6.5.4* There is no ability to export notes, and the note taking features feel clunky, especially when using a stylus. Great for casual readers. ### 2/5 — Good service, awful app *2025-08-18, version 6.5.4* The service itself is good, but the app is just awful. Honestly, it’s frustrating to use. Everything in the UI is clunky and difficult, and obvious features are missing, even as simple like changing text size! How can you not change text size?? Trying to read the text on my phone is like trying to count grains of sand in my hand.. The features that do work are hard to use or only work half the time. Take highlighting for example, good luck actually selecting any text. If you do select text, good luck moving your selection around to highlight what you actually want to. Website is better, but still suffers from the same problems. I can’t even login to my account on my laptop, because logging in via AppleId just doesn’t work… There is clearly potential here, but this app needs *serious* work. Smart Search makes it easy to find the exact content, I don’t need to dig through titles or tables of contents. As a graduate student I can access lots of great material for research papers. Many times my required texts are available in the app saving me money on text books.
