### 3/5 — Recent update introduced regressions

*2026-02-02, version 11.20*

I like this app a lot. Been using it for years. But a recent update introduced a regression. Now probably 50% of the him I hit “Finish Workout” it takes me back to the main screen but fails to save.

### 3/5 — Buggy

*2026-01-31, version 11.20*

Good app for most part but randomly decreased the weight I have saved for the exercises even though I have it set not to do that, super irritating. The whole point is to track my weight and reps but it can barely do that properly.

### 3/5 — No way to reset workouts

*2025-10-07, version 11.10*

I really like the program setup I have in the Personal Training Coach app, but my logged weights have become too high for me to recover safely after my injury break. Is there a way to reset my current program / progression data while keeping my program structure intact?

### 5/5 — This app lets me focus on my workout

*2024-11-14*

I just don't want to have to do the math to calculate all the warm-up and working weights and reps for my workouts. This app makes is easy to just walk in the the gym and focus on working hard. I'd easily spend more value trying to calculate and track myself. By making it easy, I'm more likely to work out which helps me hit my goals. And by tracking all my progress, I get this positive reinforcement loop that gets through plateaus. And thanks to the extensive library of programs, I've been able to seamlessly transition from novice (SSNLP) to intermediate (Texas Method) to advanced intermediate (5/3/1) in my lifting journey. Being able to adjust the workouts has helped as I aged and recovery got harder while still enabling progress. Great app and I can't recommended it enough.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-11-03, version 11.1*

Been using this app for years and exactly what I need!

### 5/5 — The best I’ve found

*2024-10-13, version 10.10*

I’ve been playing around with the 5/3/1 since it first came out. There’s a lot of apps out there but for me this one is the best. Tons of options and no junk.

### 5/5 — Amazing Workout App

*2024-10-13, version 10.10*

I’ve used this app for the past 3 years and it has been absolutely brilliant. As someone who likes to customise and switch up their workouts regularly, the ability to build bespoke workouts or chose from an extensive catalog of pre-made plans is great! I’ve been using the premium version of the app for the last 2 years and it’s genuinely one of the best purchases I have made in terms of supporting my health and my lifting journey.

### 5/5 — Best workout app for true weight training

*2024-09-05, version 10.10*

Love the fact that there are some well known workouts baked in to the app from the get go. Makes it super easy to follow a progression.

### 5/5 — Simple but wonderfully full featured

*2024-07-30, version 10.9*

This is a stripped down light weight app, without the bloat of unnecessary exercise videos. This app will help you understand program design, exercise selection, how to balance volume, intensity and frequency plus log and track your workouts. Unfortunately they have gone the same greedy route as many others forcing you to rent the app with monthly/annual subscriptions instead of a one time fee. 👎 if not for this I would have bought it years ago! It’s crazy how so many app developers today think everyone has an infinite amount of disposable income for app subscriptions every year. 😥 I was forced to buy another amazing app called “FitNotes”. Unfortunately it’s inferior to this one but it was simply all I could afford, plus it’s only a one time fee.

### 5/5 — 7 years and still nothing comparable (no subscription needed!!!)

*2024-06-16*

I’ve been using this App for about 7 years now. Every few years I venture out to see if there’s maybe another app that’s a little more intuitive or user friendly, but I always come back to this bad boy. It seems like every app in the workout tracking realm charges some ridiculous subscription for basic functionality like a plate calculator or customizing your workout plans. I paid my one time fee for the premium version of this app years ago and have never looked back. If you’re looking for something that’s going to give you basic statistics, track your workouts, and allow you to build custom programs, this is it.

What I’d like to see added:

- a little more modernized. It could use a facelift and some more user friendly interfaces.
- The ability to make notes for specific workout exercises instead of the entire workout day.
- The ability to make superset changes to my custom built programs without having to edit them and restart my entire program.
- I want the increment schemes and different progress schemes in general to be more understandable and user friendly.

Thank you for making this app, and not charging a subscription to use its functions. I always recommend it!

### 4/5 — Excellent!

*2024-04-06, version 10.3*

This is a fantastic app, especially if you’re an intermediate or advanced lifter and need an app to build/create your own workout. There are a few ‘pre-made’ workouts on there, but this isn’t really the apps strength. Same goes for exercises. There isn’t really a great range, but you can add your own very easily. Customisation is spot on! The ability to use amrap and percentage based training is excellent. Very few apps allow for this.

Would be a 5 star review, but for some reason, the app doesn’t recalculate percentages if you change the weight of an exercise during a workout. For example, if 100% weight is 100kg, 90% would be 90kg (obvs). But if you change that top weight, all sets will show as that weight, so you have to recalculate manually and change each one as you go. This isn’t the end of the world, but is a little inconvenient if all of your training is percentage based.

All in all though, a fantastic app. I haven’t found one that comes close for customisation. Highly recommend.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2024-01-26, version 9.11*

This app is everything you need to get started on a myriad of different lifting programs. It plans your workout and tracks your progress for you. I don’t usually review apps but this one is exactly what I wanted in a lifting app, and I highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Best workout app.

*2024-01-11, version 9.11*

Hands down one of the best workout logging applications I have ever used.

### 5/5 — Excellent app with all important programs.

*2023-12-30, version 9.11*

The graphs for bodyweight only exercise cannot be switched to rep only, this could be improved.

### 4/5 — Works well, except…

*2023-12-26, version 9.11*

Overall I really like this workout app. It doesn’t collect a bunch of information from you and isn’t bloated. The one problem I have is I changed phones and it won’t import my .workout file to my current phone. It says to contact Admin. I’ve tried two different workout files with the same error.

### 5/5 — Perfect for strength training. Nothing better!

*2023-08-12*

As a software engineer myself, this is the exact app I’ve wanted to build for some time. I’ve been using this app since before it was called PERSEUS and it does exactly what I need. Very few bugs, and my guess is, if I was diligent enough to file a bug report it’d be addressed immediately.

I’ve done many programs on here, and created my own. I’ve been thrilled to see they’re all in line with the program specs, they reliably load and deload weight properly (even between cycles), and I’ve never had trouble with any data getting lost or corrupted. Super cool! Highly recommend!!!

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — No longer good

*2026-05-27, version 11.24*

It fails to do the basic job of rotating between exercises for Greyskull. It will give me the same workout A multiple times in a row. It's random and glitchy. It's time for me to use something else. This was the go to app about 10 years ago but it's done now.

### 1/5 — Support link dead and no response from dev and multiple copy apps

*2024-12-20, version 11.2*

The plate calculator is faulty in my app once over 100kg it messes up the plates available. Used the app for years but can’t get hold of the dev as the website is now down. Didn’t answer previous support message. I would get another app at this point. The dev is running three other apps along side this one that look the same layout.

### 1/5 — 돈내고쓰는데 아예 먹통되는버그는

*2024-10-15, version 10.10*

심하지 않냐 씹쌔들아

### 1/5 — Resets all weights to zero!

*2022-05-16, version 7.2*

Really wanted to like this but if you edit anything mid exercise it resets all weights to zero, including for the sets you have already done!!! That means it deletes all your hard work. So if you have an extra rep left in the tank or increase the weight by 5lbs or something, buh bye workout! Clearly a bug and I hope the developer can fix it as otherwise the app is very nice and I like how you can make up your own routines or add exercises to a base grayskull or gzclp. Just don’t do it mid workout!

### 1/5 — Do not buy

*2019-01-02, version 1.36*

Completely botched my training max numbers on the second cycle. Had to go in and manually calculate my new training max, then reset all data in the app to start fresh. So much for tracking progress.

### 1/5 — Massively buggy, overly convoluted

*2018-11-06, version 1.34*

I started designing my own workout, edited it a few times, and then it suddenly decided I wasn’t allowed to edit it any more without purchasing the full version because I had -2 workout designs available. It also freezes all the time during workouts, forgetting half the sets you already counted. Not to mention it’s impossible to do anything without clicking through a bunch of unnecessary menus. I would not pay for this, and regret getting it for free. Save your time and money, pick a better app than this buggy garbage.

### 1/5 — Disappointing.

*2018-05-12, version 1.17*

Downloaded so I could begin on GreySkull three times per week, having previously used the official StrongLifts app with absolutely no problems at all.

Wanting to add additional isolation exercises, I find myself having to manually add these extra exercises (to the core compound routine) each and every time I work out. Why don’t any extra exercises added by the user simply carry over for the next session?

I also find on occasion I’m having to manually add barbell weight increases to the sets each subsequent time I use the app (something StrongLifts calculated for the user upon successful completion) and this afternoon the app has crashed multiple times so now I am unable to mark today’s work out as complete.

May as well use a pen and notepad. Less hassle!

### 2/5 — Good app but too many bugs

*2025-08-09, version 11.9*

I’ve been using this app (paid user) for a really long time but as time goes on I keep getting frustrated at little things. Why is it doubling my increments when doing 10 or more reps. I’ve checked the settings and it’s still doing it.. I don’t want to go thru the hassle of rebuilding my entire program just for this bug to be fixed. Why is there no dark mode icon? Certain menus are blank.. etc

### 2/5 — Once Great Now Dead?

*2023-01-05, version 7.5*

There hasn’t been an update in 6 months. Bugs that have existed for over a year are not fixed. Unfortunate because it is truly a good app but corrupted workouts make it a pain to use.

### 2/5 — nSuns and 5/3/1

*2018-09-13, version 1.31*

Can’t edit the training max itself directly.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Easily The Best Best Workout App

*2026-08-02*

I have used this app for years. I have had times where other apps caught my eye and I used them for a few sessions but ALWAYS come back. Being able to nearly infinitely customize everything in my training program is invaluable and this app does it with ease. If you take the time to get to know how to use it, you will never find anything better for tracking your training!

### 5/5 — Love this app, use it all the time

*2026-03-28, version 11.22*

I’ve been using this app for YEARS because it’s so good. Easy, customizable, flexible, and comes preloaded w most workout routines.

I was even able to customize my own travel friendly work out. It’s worth it!

### 5/5 — One amazing application

*2026-01-04*

I am surprised by the lack of reviews here. But a strength training enthusiast, I think it an amazing application. Works flawlessly. Many built in popular programs available. Extreme degree of customisation available - including warmups, adding and customising exercises, rest times, increments. You can literally create your own program. I absolutely love it and recommend it.

### 5/5 — Fantastic app

*2025-06-13, version 11.4*

Absolutely great app! Been using it for years and have never even considered moving to something else.

I can’t actually think of anything that’s made me go “ugh why doesn’t it have that”, and it still gets good improvements for things I didn’t even realise needed improving!

### 5/5 — Great app

*2025-05-31, version 11.4*

Absolutely wonderful app for true strength training and unlike most other fitness apps it does not require a monthly subscription to use. If there were one downside it’s that the user can’t log their cardio such as prowler sled workouts.

### 5/5 — The Happy Medium between using your Notes App and paying for Boostcamp subscription

*2025-04-30*

No complaints here. Been using for a few years and at the time you could buy all the futures for a once time purchase of like $15. Hopefully that’s still the case. Quality app that I discovered through Reddit. Can create your own workout plan, add your own custom exercises, set the rest times, increment weights based on sessions, track lifts over time, track weight, etc. No nonsense no fluff.

### 5/5 — Built by those who know

*2025-03-29, version 11.4*

A rarity - flexibility, detail and pre built workouts alongside however many customisations you need. It’s served me well over a number of years where other flashier apps have failed

### 5/5 — Fantastic App

*2025-02-06, version 11.4*

This app is fantastic is you want to track your training progress. The app is simply and user and the best of all is that it offers endless customisation so you can always adjust your program based on your training needs. Highly recommend this app

### 5/5 — The best gym app

*2025-01-03, version 11.4*

I’ve been using this app for years and in that time I’ve tried plenty of others but I always come back to this one as it’s the most user friendly and best value app out there.

### 5/5 — Amazing app

*2024-11-19, version 11.1*

This is the best weightlifting app I’ve ever used. The preset programs are great but the customization options and how easy it is to use really set it apart!
