Now, I don’t know what to do. Gems are really hard to get because you have to play days in a row just to get one, there should be more ways to get them. A few dogs I wish were in the game are golden retrievers, basenjis, shiba inus, chihuahuas, Pomeranians, and MUCH more. There should also be more cats. I would also like an exotic pet that costs coins rather than gems. ### 3/5 — Love the game but sad ending *2022-06-07, version 2.8* Hi so I just want to start out saying that I love this game it was so much fun playing, but for some random reason I tried playing the game and it just kept loading so I waited a few days I even restarted my iPad but it would stop so I started to think maybe it was the app so I deleted and downloaded it again and played but when I got the the middle of the game after playing a few days it HAPPENED AGAIN 😡😡😢😢. Anyway i don’t know if it happened to anyone else but I eventually deleted it I just wanted to let you know please try and fix it for other people if it happens to them. Thanks!! ### 3/5 — Ok it’s kinda good *2021-12-28, version 2.8* I love this game! Awesome, has so many breeds. Love it, better than a lot of games like the one I just previously reviewed, saying how this was all a lot better than that one. So yeah I love it so much! Anyone who reading this review, it’s a great game. Worth every penny (although that’s just a saying, I’ve never actually done an in app purchase, I think the only one is more gems) so yeah it’s great but I think the dogs should cost a little less, like the poodle. Although I find poodles EXTREMELY unattractive, cross breed with poodles are absolutely adorable. The only problem is, the petting the dogs. They are all so finicky about where they’re being pet! The only dogs who don’t do this are my border collies (I love you, Cookie) (cookie is my first dog/border collie). So yeah they are all so Judgey where I pet them. If I pet them in the wrong spot, they’re happiness goes down and it gets me really stressed! I don’t want them to be unhappy, I want them to be as happy as could be! But if I pet them in the wrong spot, they aren’t. Only does their happiness go up if I pet them in the EXACT Right spot! So I loved Pet City when I was younger, and I had some free storage on my boring phone so I decided to download it again. It was going really good and I got really invested into the game like I had before. Until a pop-up on the screen stopped me from playing the game. It said “Content Update,” and below it read “content downloading #1” with a loading sign below it. Now, I thought it was just processing the process I had done on the game, and I waited a bit for it to do its thing before I got back on. However, I’ve been waiting all day and the screen has not gone away. I’ve looked it up on sites and all I get is old questions from 2013, so if you could fix this or at least tell me how to get the pop-up out the way please tell me. Thank you, and cya later.👋 ### 3/5 — Save the animals!!!!! *2019-11-24, version 2.8* I love this app but I can’t even get to play it because I have to download it multiple times because I crossbred sometimes and it crashes so when I try to open the app it’s not even loading. Also I even buy dogs and cats with my coins on the app and the next few days I have to download it because it crashed again. so I have to download it again and restart the app with all of my progress and hard work and my animals. Otherwise I will play the app 99%of my weekdays. I also think you should earn four gems a week for your weekly rewards every time you login. And I also want a ton more different unique animals like a cavleer King Charles kind of dog. I love the many different animals in the world. Otherwise I would love this app even more!! It also makes so angry and so so sad when I have to abandon a poor sick animal. So I’m hoping it would have to cost a lot less gems to have to heal sick pets so they don’t have to die. But recently I opened my game and it’s stuck on the loading screen saying “downloading update #1” I’ve tried refreshing my phone, turning my WiFi on and off, Etc. Nothings working. I’m not deleting it and reinstalling because my friend did that due to the same problem and it started her all over and the loading screen still said the same thing a few days later. PLEASE FIX THIS ISSUE! I do not want to give up on this wonderful game but there’s nothing I can do 😭😭😭. PLEASE GAME DEVELOPERS, Please fix this! ### 4/5 — Adorable Game! *2019-07-01, version 2.8* Normally, I would have given this game a 5 star rating but after owning this game for a little while I opened the app to play when it was stuck on the starting screen with the words “downloaded update one...” with the little loading sign. PLEASE? *2019-02-01, version 2.8* This is really one of my favorite games, but when I first downloaded it, it says it’s updating, but when I went back another day it’s still updating, it keeps loading and loading, so I deleted it and downloaded it again, I was frustrated because I bought a lot of pets that time already. When I downloaded it again, it said it needed to be updated again, at first I was hesitating to hit ‘yes’, but when I tried clicking yes, the “loading and loading and loading” happens again. PLEASE I DON’T want to delete this again because I already have a lot of pets already, I waited really hard for them to level up. ### 3/5 — Meh *2018-12-24, version 2.8* It’s pretty fun and it’s good that you don’t need WiFi to play, but there are a few problems. 1. When I first got it my screen went black and nothing changed so I had to delete it and re download it. 2. When I breeded two dogs it said that “something went wrong” so I lost 500 coins. 3. This hasn’t happened to me yet, but people say that their puppies randomly become sick and they have to abandon them. Honestly, I just downloaded the app to see if it is a Pet Shop Story Rip-Off (it is). I’ll still keep the app because it’s ok and I need something to do in the car when I go on vacation but it’s not as good as Pet Shop Story where there are none of those problems. Oh and 4. This isn’t a problem just a suggestion, maybe there could be an update where you name the pet shop like in Pet Shop Story. ### 4/5 — A great game... *2018-05-21, version 2.8* This game is AMAZING!!!!! I love it so so so much!!!!! But there are a few concerns I would like to say. First is that there are not many animals. There are some dogs, barely any cats and barely any exotic animals. Second is the animals are very expensive. Some of them are 75 gems! And gems are very very hard to get! But I really really love this game. I CANNOT STOP PLAYING IT!!!!!!! I love that we get to see the animals up close and feeding them. I love animals and it feels like this game was invented for me. This game is so much fun. I just wish there was a way to get gems. I also wish that there were more animals. But I love it so much and the people who made it should be very proud for what they accomplished. ### 3/5 — Pet City *2018-04-18, version 2.8* I had this game forever lol but just start playing. I like how u can change the animals names. I do wish u had a deal on gems. I also wish the dogs and cats an even other pets could cross breed instead of pairing two same kind pet together. I mean like for instance two different dog types, etc. Give it some thought 😀 Update: Fix it so we can rotate items to our liking when placing. There is no option?? And where the tutorial? I got the hang of it, but I don’t want to miss nothing lol either. Too much going on, beginning to see some issues other players faced. Well I love your other games but this one needs to be re-evaluated. ### 4/5 — I LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!! *2017-02-12, version 2.5* I REALLY, REALLY LOVE THIS GAME! I love ALL of the animals. However, I really wish you guys will add some. more animals though. I find that I have deleted this game and added it plenty of times because I have got all the animals that didn't cost gems. Speaking of gems I think we should be able to get more gems easier and faster. Otherwise, your game is amazing! I do love it a lot and play it all the time. I wish that some of the stuff that you could buy didn't cost SO MUCH gems! It has still been a pleasure having your game though. I also really wish you could make things less expensive. PLEASE GET RID OF THE ADDS! I hate the adds! Also the fact that you let the animals die. Why not bring them to the vet? Especially if you have to go through the process of buying the animal again and then getting its food and possibly a toy for it. But I still love that you can interact with the animals. Please add more stuff! Pet city needs an update! And when you upgrade their habitats and it is SOOO expensive. You also need more crossbreeding available for more different mixes of dogs and other animals. Otherwise I could thank you enough for this game! ### 3/5 — Questionable... *2016-07-15, version 2.5* I'm only on level 7 or something so I'm not far into but so far I've enjoyed it. However there are rumors going around saying that you need to buy gems otherwise the animals die. If I see this on my screen I will 100% be deleting it. Also, I don't really like how so many animals are worth gems. This is a kids game and should have a big variety of animals to experience without having to buy gems or worry about the cost of them (although you could argue it brings lessons that contribute later in life). I personally haven't experienced a lot in the game so far but I'd say it would be an amazing game if they fixed some of the things I've listed. But, there are two things that I don't really like about this app. One, you have to take care of your animals a lot during the day or else they get sick and have to pay (with the game coins) for their medicine for them to get better. The second thing is, you only have a few gems and it's very rare to get more or you have to pay for them (with real money) and most of the animals you have to get with your gems. He worked all week so that he could earn a purchase for this game. When we told him we would get him extra gems he was very excited. We bought three sets of five dollars worth of gems. We never got them. I emailed the company since you can’t call, took a long time to hear back only to be told that they would not refund and we could have gems for another game. This was not acceptable . Not that it mattered as this game had already crashed multiple times and my son couldn’t play it anyway. Be careful of any in app purchases and make sure you don’t need customer support! I’m all for supporting business but not when they refuse to refund for a product you bought and never received. My son was very sad. ### 1/5 — Not a good game. *2017-07-10, version 2.5* As I was reading reviews for this game, I noticed a few that said their puppies had fallen ill and died. Immediately after, while playing the game a message popped up saying that my puppy was in "critical condition" and that I needed to save it. Fortunately, I had a few gems, and was able to save it. Unfortunately, I now have no gems because I used them up Saving the puppy. Another problem is that the game told me if I rated it, I would get a reward. I still have yet to see a reward of any kind. It also gives children the message that breeding and selling dogs is okay. The game should be updated so that instead of being a puppy mill, the player gets to rescue different types of animals. I read another review that talked about this, and i have to admit, I haven't noticed it before. But it really isn't okay. This game uses emotional blackmail to get kids to spend money and promotes animal mills. Wouldn't recommend for small children, or, anyone. ### 1/5 — HORRIBLE- One of the worst games!!! *2016-12-04, version 2.5* This game is terrible. About the only thing you can do with the pets is pet them, feed them, and then have to give medicine when they get sick. My daughter can do far more in her Strawberry Shortcake pet game. On top of that, and what makes this even worse is that if you choose to breed your animals, it doesn't always work. Want to know what your choices are? Either discard the baby or use gems to keep the baby. Keep in mind this happens even when breeding two of the same species. How do you get gems? You need to use real world money. Additionally, while breeding, let's say a husky, that takes two days. You can't feed or pet the animals while breeding, but they get heartbroken all the same. I have no idea why anyone would rate this game highly. If you want a pet game, download Puppy Palace. At least in that one you can play with the puppies, bathe them, and other stuff that is a lot more fun than this will ever be. ### 1/5 — Dumb breeders *2016-07-11, version 2.5* I do not like the game because when the pet gets sick you can dump it you are teaching kids it is ok to dump pets think of your pet about to die on the street to sad. And that is more pets for the shelter to rescue . Another reason is because of breading because of breading the shelter gets at least 30 pets a day that is 210 pets a weak ! My baby Dakota is a pit bull from the shelter and is as sweet as can be for what she was through . Her old master was a breeder and she was breaded and was whipped when did not do what told . She was on her last line she was about to be put down . It makes me cry . I have a task for everyone for you birthday instead of you getting gifts ask for pet food and toys to donate to the shelter . No one has ever gone poor from giving . I will not play unless it is fixed . ### 1/5 — Disgusting!! DON'T DOWNLOAD!!!!!!! *2016-03-27, version 2.5* I wish I could give this thing 0. My sis wanted to play it. She downloaded it on my phone and I decided to check it out. I go on and see the breeder area. Let me say first, I am a huge "Adopt don't Shop" person. The way they did this was HORRIBLE! I would of been much happier with this game if it was a shelter. Kids don't need the message that it's OK to breed dogs. There's already 2.7 million animals being euthanized each year. I know many probably disagree with me by now, but please understand💕. Then a message pops up on the screen saying something was wrong with the unborn puppy. My sister just turned 7 and doesn't understand how to manage her "gems". So the two options were to eather abandon the puppy (let it die😢) or save it by using gems. She didn't have any "gems"!! These people are so greedy! This is BLACKMAIL AND supporting puppy mills and/or unresponsible breeding of animals! It was hard enough explaining to my sister why she didn't have a new puppy on her game THEN having to explain to her the game had to be deleted! Very disappointed. The previous commenter who accused this app of committing emotional black mail is dead on. Pet City attempts to control it's players by guilt tripping them into making in-app purchases. Only a few days after getting this game, one of my first pets, a puppy, randomly fell ill. (And considering the clear lack of morals in producing this game, I must say, I have doubts that it is a coincidence that a baby was the first to get sick.) A message popped up on the screen warning me that she was in critical condition, and the only way to revive her was to pay gems. Since I had no gems and I can't afford to pay real money for a virtual animal (I have real pets that I need to save my money for), I was given no choice but to abandon the dying cyber pup. Immediately after, I promptly deleted the game from my phone. This is a horribly reprehensible technique, especially in a game marketed primarily towards young children. For older players, this might be easier to look past, however, I contend, the whole principle of the thing should be enough to hinder anyone from playing. Please don't enable this type of heinous retail strategy by downloading Pet City!!! The makers ought to be ashamed!!! ### 1/5 — Glitchy *2014-07-20, version 2.5* Every time I go to the 1 floor all of my pets on the 0 floor get sad and starving and one of them gets sick and it cost me 4 gems to get it back. This is a really bad glitch and it needs to be fixed. Also there needs to be an easier way to get gems. like if you have $10k you can turn it into some gems. something like that cause they are really hard to get. don't spend a lot of money on this game cause it goes by really quick. i just got it about a month ago and i haven't spent a dollar on it and I'm already on level 25. This game has a lot of glitches and they need to be fixed. Its a fun game until you don't have room left on the 0 floor. dont get the 1 floor, its a waist of money. and the game needs to be updated, there is not a lot more animals, and the exotic ones are too hard to get. OVERALL JUST DON'T SPEND MONEY ON THIS GAME AND DON'T GET THE 1 FLOOR. GEMS ARE HARD TO GET AND IT DOESN'T UPDATE. ### 1/5 — Emotional Blackmail *2014-07-12, version 2.5* While I really enjoyed this game in the beginning, there was one incident that is just simply unacceptable for "a pet lovers game". While I am unsure whether this was a glitch or just a mistake, it cost me a beloved pixelated friend. It occurred about a week ago, one of my puppies grew critically ill. of course I was willing to pay for medicine to keep his life, but the game wouldn't allow me to do so. Instead it wanted me to pay for gems, which of course I had none. It, of course, directed me to where I can purchase gems, but living a financially restricted life, I was not about pay 2.99 to save one puppies life, sad as it made me feel. And so I was forced to abandon the puppy. This action is strictly intolerable. While I understand, the company wants/needs money to survive, there are other ways of collecting. That is why I am giving it only one star. Before I had given it five. Saying it was an enjoyable game. But after being emotionally blackmailed, I feel this game isn't worth my time anymore. It's simply greedy companies trying to sucker-punch me and possibly others into buying gems to keep their company afloat, even though there are probably millions of people buying gems as it is. This seems cruel and completely unnecessary. And what is saddest of all is a poor pixelated puppy has to pay the price. While I did say this might be a glitch, somehow I feel it's just not. ### 2/5 — Perpetual “update downloading” *2019-04-30, version 2.8* Was enjoying the game as a way to pass time and made it a substantial in to the tasks given when the app decided to download updates —-this is fine, except nothing ever happened. It just said it was downloading. Left it alone and open for an hour, left it open but not an active screen for a few additional hours, WiFi or data plan —nothing, no progress or change. I decided to just delete the app and reinstall, assuming my progress would be saved as I’m logged in through the App Store game play thing. Nope. Oh well, started over and a few days later, downloading an update, with again, no progress. Mild annoying. Guess I will just delete it again and move on... ### 2/5 — Stop the blackmail and fix this! *2016-08-05, version 2.5* Don't get me wrong, I loved this game. It was one of my favorites. I played it on my iPad all of the time as a younger child. It was fun and cute to me. But then the same thing that happens to everyone happened. A PUPPY became critically ill, right out of the blue. Of course I wanted to help it get better, so I decided to try to buy the medicine that would help it. But every free game has a 'gem' system in it so that the company can make money. As if making everything fancy cost gems and having more than enough people buying gems every day, they had to use a cruel and heartbreaking way to snag money from children. Killing off one of their beloved pixilated puppies. The only way to save the poor thing was to buy gems. Imagine the first time I saw that one of my puppies was dying as a small child. Imagine me having to abandon the puppy with the lack of money I had to spend on digital games. This was straight up cruel and I will not support this used to be fun game until it is UPDATED AND FIXED! Take away this cruelty and I might re download. It’s very fun and everything is very easy and straightforward. I have had this game for a little while and I got really far and I was enjoying it when all of a sudden when I went into the app, something popped up. It read: “Downloading Content. Downloading Update 1.” I was a little confused at first but I decided to wait it out. Nothing happened. The “update” just kept loading and there were no options, nothing to click on. So, I exited out of the app, waited a couple minutes, and then went back into it. Yet again, the same thing popped up. So, I decided to wait significantly longer to see if anything would happen... nothing. I then finally decided to delete the app and re-download it. The app went very smoothly and everything was back to normal (except that I had lost all my progress). I had played the game earlier this morning and everything was fine. It's really fun, but there are some things that bother me. Reason #1 SICK ANIMALS... I was playing the game then an icon popped up and said my basset hound puppy was sick! I clicked the button that said "buy medicine" because instead I thought it costed coins, not gems. I spent the last of my gems to save him. Then the next day, he got sick again! I had no gems and couldn't save him. I was forced to let him die. I was devastated so I deleted the app. Then, about a year later, I redo loaded it, hoping that this horrible way of getting money was gone. Luckily, none of my animals have gotten sick yet. This should really not be on this children's game. THE LAST REASON IS... When i first got the game, I thought the turtle was really cute. When I went to see how much they were, they costed gems! I was sad so bought a dog instead. ALSO, THERE IS ONE MORE REASON... I think that the game should let you crossbreed any animals together. However there is only a very simple tutorial at the beginning and you're in your own. I play with my daughter and we spent a fortune before finding out you can earn gems by friending people in Game Center and they can each give you one gem a day. Otherwise you cannot play long without buying gems. You can play without buying coins if you have a LOT of patience and can wait days for things to happen. Which my daughter does not, so we still spend too much on this game. But it's cute and addicting and well made. Add information on how to add friends to your game! It's done through Game Center - not the app itself. ### 5/5 — Awesome pet city *2015-04-24, version 2.5* This isn't some game that people play to occupy themselves. This isn't just a game either it's an interaction with pets on a tablet. It's better than those talking cats games like talking Angela and talking tom. Those are boring games. Plus you can play this game whenever and wherever. Like in the library when you get bored and don't want to work on your assignment. Also it's a good game to play because it helps many kids emotions become positive in stead of unhappy. This would be a benefit for both you and your peers. Anyways, it's also a good occupier for children and adults. Another thing this app does iis help humans and mortals like us learn to care fir pets. I say this because lately people have be abusing animals and ecpissally cats and dogs. In this game many can learn that it isn't hard to tatake care of a pet. ------------ ### 5/5 — Pet City Lover!!🐶 *2015-01-18, version 2.5* Omg! I absolutely LOVE this app! I support everyone about buying this app!! The only thing (that I don't believe deserves -1 star) that I don't really like is that pretty much everything that you buy is super expensive to buy other than purchasing more coins or gems. I mean, seriously? A few thousand coins for a single dog, plus buying the habitat, calculating up to about 2,500 coins in all, how! And I almost forgot about spending 60 coins at the lowest for buying food for them! Please at least lower the prices a little bit!
