You can’t even buy them.. and to get some items you have to have the sweets. I wish y’all would fix this so we can expand ### 3/5 — Free sweet *2021-09-05, version 5.4.3* I have played the game for years. For months now the free sweets have not worked. Whether I try for the once a day commercial or the tap joy ones. If this game was monitored effectively, they would make so much more money. There is so much potential here. If the company can’t keep up, sell it to someone who will. However there are a few glitches I've run into in the tasks you're supposed to complete. For example, one task is to add 5 normal road pieces... I've added over 20 now and it's still not registering as complete on my list. Also it wants me to invite Jeremy Fisher into my garden... but he's literally already been there and is still there and his house is there too... so yeah not sure what's up with that. I like that you can collect pages from the actual books and then read them, but I wish it was more regular - like every 3 market trips or something. Not spending any cash on this game - just using the free sweets as I move up levels or watch ads. But yeah, a few bugs and kind of slow play, but still really cute! Movie button doesn’t work so I can’t watch anything to earn sweets. Be careful of the use of FREE, which implies that the user will not pay money. This is an expensive game without much of an opportunity to use earned coins and expand Peter’s world. I have to do icon roulette but it’s been a long time since the dev did anything with this game. It’s a cute game but I want to be able to finish stuff. ### 2/5 — Beautiful, but little play value *2018-01-31, version 5.4.3* Love the art... when you get to see some. The pace is so slow that it takes days and days to get anything new, or move forward. You earn coins, but there is almost nothing to buy with them. You need sweets to speed up or get special anything, but they are very expensive and don’t really help move the game along. You find pages from the stories, but I’ve now found the same page five times, and I haven’t found a new one in days. Really a shame that the game play is so poorly designed. ### 3/5 — Cute game *2017-06-17, version 5.4.3* Love the artistry, Peter rabbit has always been a favorite of mine. The weather feature is cool with the calming sound of rain, but would be better if you could actually see rain too. I also think a zoom feature would be nice for this app. The mini games are a nice touch. I'm new to the game so I'll wait and see what other surprises come my way. You'd get a new vegetable upgrading to certain level, however, most new ones earns less per unit time. While it seems wise to plant old ones like lettuce or camomile, it would not help you in inviting new friends and getting new pages. Otherwise, this game is perfect. ### 4/5 — Awesome App! *2014-08-06, version 3.8* Game is really fun with awesome graphics. I play it on my iPad so it looks spectacular. The plants that you have to grow take quite a bit of time to grow before you can harvest and sell them, so that's a bit annoying. No problems with crashing, haven't encountered any bugs yet ### 3/5 — Needs more content, better cost-benefit for in-apps *2014-04-25, version 3.6* On the plus side, the app does a nice job creating a watercolor world of Beatrix Potter characters. The app itself is family-friendly. At the same time, game progress is exceedingly slow, and in-app purchases are exceedingly costly. The game is attractive, but small and it becomes unduly repetitive. Advertising is often aimed at an adult market, which makes the game less accessible for kids. I consider this to be a good foundation for a kid-friendly game, but I suspect that the emphasis on in-app purchase, with slow progress being the incentive to buy, the developer will end up losing its best market in the pursuit of illusory in-app profits. ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Needs updating *2022-06-08, version 5.4.3* This is a cute app that hasn’t been updated for 5 years. The in app purchases are ridiculously high. Please update!!!! ### 1/5 — Fraud! Liars! Cheats! Garbage! *2021-12-15, version 5.4.3* I love Beatrix Potter’s books, so I should be happy for this game. But the challenges are too unreasonable and too expensive for me to complete. This game is the cause of my wasting hundreds of dollars just to get sweets! Hundreds! You need sweets(candy canes) to buy the best decorations or your game will be very boring and uninteresting looking. If you use an Apple device definitely don't bother with the game. You can never earn sweets via Tapjoy. You can complete offers and Tapjoy will tell you sweets were credited but the game support will never respond to your emails if it's about the sweets you should have been credited for. Spend your money on a new HDTV or go on a nice vacation. That's how much you need to spend on this ridiculously expensive game. It would be a fun game if it could be played without spending money. In order to really play the game you would have to spend $50 to $100!! To make matters worse the option to watch advertisements instead of spending money has been disabled. It's too bad these crooks got the rights to Beatrix Potter, it's such a great idea but it's unplayable! Also they say you are going to get 10 sweets with the update and it's a lie!! ### 1/5 — PARENTS BEWARE! *2014-02-07, version 3.3* I want to issue a warning about this game. Although it seems completely innocent, it uses sleazy tactics to sell products. This gets long, but the game lets us buy points (called 'sweets') toward items to place in our own rabbit paradises. The items are quite expensive, and one could easily spend $200 on a well-appointed village. The only alternative is to visit a long list of Web sites, selling everything from credit monitoring services to pharmaceuticals. Many of the sites require a purchase, or sign-ups for a paid monthly service, and then sweets are awarded. To make matters worse, two days ago I carefully avoided the credit card traps, and earned 85 sweets signing up for online surveys. The next morning, someone had changed/miscalculated the total to 5! When I contacted the game support person, he/she lied and said that my sweets would be restored. But they were not, even after a second request. Parents, do not play this game with young children. They'll find that Squirrel Twinkleberry can't come to live in their villages because someone took their sweets, and they can't buy a tree for him! Could Poppin Games please charge the going rate for this game, and stop using Peter Rabbit to sell products? Beatrix Potter would be mortified! ### 1/5 — Plots removed, no money back? *2012-10-11, version 1.6* Okay, so I get that all the extra plots I had were due to a bug, but why not put a warning that they will be gone if I update IN the App Store description when people go to download the update??? I only got the warning inside the app AFTER I downloaded the update. A lot of good that did! You guys should've just eaten your mistake and let us keep our extra plots instead of taking them back. But since you are so eager to correct mistakes, how about giving me the gold back that I spent on the plots? How about giving me all the XP I ALREADY earned for various houses instead of making me earn them all again for the quests? ### 1/5 — Steals your money *2012-10-10, version 1.6* This game is cute and fun but they keep changing rules. For instance, you used to be able to buy plots so I purchased coins to buy them and now you can't buy plots anymore. Which wouldn't be such a big deal if they refunded my money from the coin packages I bought, which they didn't. Also they deleted all the plots. So they charged me money for coins, took away what I bought with them so they stole my money. Big problem! ### 1/5 — Freemium Overboard *2012-08-01, version 1.3* I love Beatrix Potter's books and though this looked like a fun game but everything takes way to long to do in the game unless you buy tokens to speed up the time. I might be willing to buy the odd outfit or weapons and armor for characters in the games I play, but no way am I paying money to speed up the game. This is an interesting building an management game that is ruined by a horrible freemium model. Ultimately disappointing. Once I need space for something new, it will be the first game on my iPad to go. Update to review: Not only does it take forever to do stuff without paying for it, the game sometimes punishes you for taking to long to do something and then tries to get you to pay money to fix it. That was the last straw and I deleted it. I recommend passing this on as there are much better building sims on the app store that doesn't treat the gamer like a fool. ### 1/5 — Refund *2012-06-27, version 1.1* I just lost the post office and I actually paid real money to purchase the candy canes. I want a refund seeing that you guys have not fixed anything that people have requested. I really regret using real money on this game and I recommend people not to download or at the least waste their money on this game. Wait at least a year to ensure that the developers have made the necessary fixes! As a kid Peter Rabbit was my favorite! This game is for both kids and adults. It allows you to build a garden/farm with many different options. However, there is no tutorial- so it is basically self-discovery. There are also story books with pictures for kids and small mini games that are easy enough for kids to understand. My only suggestion for improvement is the access to sweets- maybe make it easier to get them, and/or more for your money. Also try making the app more responsive to touch and speed of touch.
