Our app no longer shows a map in the background (ie it's just the tracker on a blank screen) ### 1/5 — Not good enough *2023-01-23* The company had a great technology until it doesn’t work. We have used the PETFON daily for the last year and was very satisfied. We live in the country and once the dog realized that we could find him after he took off he stopped leaving the yard. BUT now that the unit stopped working we can not get help from customer service. They might have a post office box in the USA but their tech help is somewhere in Asia. Long delay in communication transmission and their agent does not speak English very well. Very frustrating. They used to have great service. Now we have a useless dog collar. ### 1/5 — Needs substantial work *2023-01-11, version 3.1.1* Constantly indicating pet is in one or another location when in fact, my pet is standing next to me. Horribly inaccurate. Needs a lot of work but no updates at all from developers! ### 1/5 — Does NOT work, Save your money! *2022-09-13* This tracker was a huge waste of money! It simply does not work. Could not get a refund. When I first got it I thought I was doing something wrong because it would only hold the signal for a very short time. I did everything I read to do but kept getting the “get closer to last known location” message. Hard to do when the dog is off running around. When she comes back I try again and it just doesn’t work. I have messaged the company numerous times with no response from them. SAVE YOUR MONEY and search for something else. ### 1/5 — Horrible app *2022-03-29* Bought this $240 device and the app wont let me register ### 1/5 — Total junk *2022-03-24* I am done with this, there are endless updates that seem to do nothing as far as accuracy goes and when our pet has the tracker on bounces all over the map. When I first started using the tracker it was pretty good, some bouncing around but usually within a small area where my pet is, now we are talking 100's of feet at a time. I think the developer is one guy with broken English trying to pretend it’s a big company. Don’t trust it. There’s some hardware issues with the trackers when they need to be shutdown to charge. This is a problem that happens periodically with the tracker and the controller. You can be right next to your pet and it will tell you your pet is three blocks away. Worse, when you are looking for your lost pet, the information you receive is completely inaccurate. We spent an entire afternoon searching for our little guy, worried because his signal was stationary in a location where it would be easy for him to get stuck in some storm drains. When it moved it was in a linear fashion that would indicate movement through the storm system. Turns out he was sleeping in a neighbors backyard the entire time! PETFON still exists as a company with expensive stuff. I’m figuring it out, but the ‘help’ sections on PETFONs website AND app make this more confusing than it should be! I’ll update as time goes by, and as I continue to figure out this device. Boo 👻 for the reasons above. Easy to fix, PETFON. UPDATE: Now, with iOS 16 and 17 beta, attempting to download offline maps crashes the app. PETFON has a good product and if the software could get some simple updates this would be a recommended product. ### 1/5 — No firmware updates, no maintenance *2023-04-14* Controller stopped working (won’t charge). Never seems to have any sort of maintenance or firmware updates for the actual tracker…. ### 1/5 — What are you going to fix this product? Great product, once in a while. *2023-01-30* When it works it’s great. The app cannot deliver the GPS file successfully, the sounds become corrupt, and location fails often. New firmware was just released and it made things worse. How hard can it be to fix these problems? Within minutes my tracker was set up and ready. He says the app is user friendly and the location display is accurate. Hopefully he’ll never have to track me down, but the peace of mind in case he does is worth it. ### 5/5 — Works great *2021-07-26, version 3.0.1* Tracks my pet even in the woods. I especially like the customizable call where you can record a come here command and send it to the collar receiver so the dog hears YOUR voice and responds to it even at a great distance. Even though I did not buy it from PETFON, the customer service Representative has been in touch with me for days to figure out the issue and now, that we established the problem, they are replacing the device for me at no extra cost! With that kind of attitude- what an amazing company! Also I was told by the company that they are working on upgrading the software to where the device would talk to the dog itself, once the animal crosses the boundary- looking forward to that feature! ### 5/5 — Great Tracker *2020-07-07* Great peace of mind ; over all works great . I have two stubborn Husky’s and they love to explore. I hate to cage or leash them. This gives them freedom yet helps my nerves worrying if they went too far ❤️What I love the most is if there is any questions or problems I get fast helpful responses 👍🏼 Definitely recommend and so worth the money. Most all no monthly fees !! ### 5/5 — Absolutely works in San Gabriel Mountains *2020-01-31* This App and the device are absolutely worth the money. Took my German Shorthaired Pointer into the mountains this morning for a hike. She tends to stay ahead of us on the trail and checks in from time to time. On our way down, she didn’t respond to our recall. The PETFON told us she had gone back up into the mountains rather than proceeding us down as we had thought. We would not have looked for her in the right direction without this device. Initially, I didn’t believe the App, but it proved to be absolutely accurate. It was a great feeling when I started seeing her little avatar advancing towards me on my phone. This unit will be helpful to anyone with an off leash dog. ### 4/5 — Good so far *2021-01-29, version 2.9.3* I have only been using this system for about a week, and I must say I am impressed so far. I live in a large city with a wandering Husky. I have been able to locate her when she wanders off, and can even get an alert when she leaves the general area of the property. It takes a bit to get it properly set up, as there are quite a few options, however use is very simple. I am about to test it on a rural setting, in the mountains. I can see that there may be a problem with the collar attachment method (stretchy piece of plastic), and that the tracker on the collar could easily get water into it through the sound port (especially if dog walks into a pond or creek). ### 3/5 — Won’t Sen verification code *2025-07-06, version 3.1.1* Uggggggggggggggggg doesn’t work for me ### 3/5 — So far so good… *2021-12-04, version 3.1.1* …but this is a nearly $200 device and PETFON can’t use proper English in the documentation? I use it to track my dog in a fairly dense forest. Overall I like the app and find I can use it to find the location of my dog when he runs away or chases a deer. In order to get this product working well, you have to really ensure your settings are optimized and broadly understand how the Loran and Bluetooth technology work together in order to set your expectations correctly. Customer service is responsive and helpful by phone although sometimes hard to understand ( it sounds like they are always using some sketchy voip connection). Not 100% satisfied, but it still works better than other trackers I have tried that don’t perform as well and also charge a monthly/annual fee.
