### 3/5 — Purina Advertisement

*2026-08-17*

I really like the product, but lately it seems like all the development has gone into finding more ways to spam you about Purina products than the app functionality itself. Basic features like clearing all alerts at once, pausing when a cat isn’t there (common for households in which owners are separated), or allowing multiple people to access the records (needed in households in which owners aren’t separated) have been missing for far too long. But every major update seems to come with new ways to force Purina products into every interaction.

### 3/5 — Good hardware, but needs Multi-User/Family Sharing ASAP

*2026-06-27*

Our three scales and the app have been helpful, but the current login system is a massive hurdle for multi-person households.

Because the app only allows Apple or Google SSO (no standard email/password option), family members are forced to share their core Google or Apple credentials just to view the data. This creates a severe security and privacy risk. Furthermore, when multiple family members try to use the same login, they are constantly kicked out and logged out.

To fix this bottleneck, please consider implementing one of these standard fixes:

1. The "Invites" Model: Let each family member log in via their own personal SSO account, and allow the primary owner to send an email invitation to "Share Device" (similar to the "Share My Dog" feature in your GPS tracker app).

2. Apple Family Sharing / Google Family Link: Integrate native cloud-sharing frameworks so members of the same digital family group can automatically view the same account instance.

3. Email/Password Fallback: Allow a standalone login so families can safely share a dedicated pet-care password without compromising their personal master accounts.

Monitoring cat health should be a team effort for a family. Please update the user architecture to support multi-device syncing!

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your thoughtful feedback. We’re glad the monitors have been helpful, and we appreciate your insights on multi-user access. Our team is actively developing single sign-on access, targeted for release this July. You will receive an email with instructions once it’s ready. This update will also include an optional email/password login. We’ve also shared your suggestions, including device-sharing invitations and family-sharing integrations, for further review as we continue to improve the Petivity experience. You’re always welcome to contact us at 866-979-2477 or support@petivity.com. Thanks again for being with Petivity, and give your cats a soft ear scratch from us. — Your Petivity Team

### 4/5 — Nice, but needs a couple UI tweaks

*2025-12-10*

Overall this app works well and has a good interface to provide the acquired data. I have had issues with the app getting a “hairball” that is not resolved by restarting or re-installing. In these cases, the issue will resolve itself in 24-36 hours.

My issues with the UI.
1. In events, with the list format, on the current day t second line has “time from event”, duration, and weight. All other days have the exact time. I think the current day should have exact time. I verify with a video camera and not having the click on the event to find the exact time would eliminate having to scrub through video.

2. Summary for a cat: nice infographic. Can select day, 2 weeks, 1 month, 6 month display interval. Would be nice if I could scroll back regardless of interval selected

3. Make it easier to clear multiple alerts.

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing your detailed experience with the Smart Litter Box Monitor. We are glad to hear the app provides helpful insights into your cat’s health and that the infographic summaries add value to your routine. We are sorry for the occasional glitches and UI details that have made daily use less seamless. If you ever need assistance, please reach out to us at 866-979-2477 or support@petivity.com. We value your input, and we are committed to making Petivity more intuitive, reliable, and supportive of your cat’s health so you can feel confident in the care you provide. - Your Petivity Team

### 3/5 — Bad update!

*2025-11-27, version 2.19.1*

I love the Petivity but this update wiped out all my data. I have to start fresh as if I just started today. It wiped out my cats names & data & I’m not connected to my devices anymore either. Love the product & info I get from it but this update is frustrating!

### 3/5 — Too complicated

*2025-11-20, version 2.19.1*

Very good data but this app is too complicated to navigate

### 2/5 — Error code 1041

*2025-10-06, version 2.18.1*

Unable to connect to xfinity xb8. Setting is 2.4ghz wpa2 and entering correct password. Also tried a hard reset. Petivity is in same room as xb8 and all other devices work fine. My review is specifically based on xfinity xb8 use with petivity monitor. I wrote to petivity customer support and will update this review with any additonal response.

### 4/5 — Cut the Cute

*2025-09-22*

I use Petivity to monitor the health of my cats, and it is very good for that. It usually identifies my two cats correctly that are about 3 oz apart andi can watch weight trends, which is an important indicator for health. The graphs are useful for watching weight trends, but because the graphs use a cats face for the data point, the two cats faces block each other, and it’s unclear what their weight actually is. This cuteness gets in the way of my purpose - monitoring my cats health. Please change the charts to use colored dots/lines. Also, I really want to be able to filter the events list by cat. The filter works for the weight chart but not events. Thank you for helping my cats!

**Developer response:** Thank you for your review. It’s wonderful to hear that Petivity has been a helpful tool for monitoring your cats’ health, and we appreciate your thoughtful feedback about chart visuals and event filtering. We understand how important clarity is when reviewing weight trends, and we’ll be sure to share your comments with our team as we continue working to improve the experience. Our goal is to help cat owners proactively manage their cats’ health, and we always value hearing from users like you. If you have any additional questions or feedback, feel free to reach out to us anytime at petivity.com/pages/contact. – Your Petivity Team

### 3/5 — Bugs after most recent update

*2025-09-11, version 2.18.0*

Overall the product is good and mostly does what is expected of it, albeit lacking in quite a few areas pointed out in other reviews. However, after the most recent update, I’m unable to view any events in list view. It keeps saying “No events to show” which is frustrating, because the chart view is so bad it’s unusable. Without a functional list view, the product is useless. Hoping for a fix soon.

### 3/5 — Overall Great but Chart View is Awful

*2025-09-02*

Does exactly what I’m hoping for it to do - help me keep track of my cat’s litter box usage accurately.

The chart view, however, is terrible. They need to rethink this section of the app because it’s basically useless in its current state - pinch to zoom truly just makes no sense. Let me toggle between weekly and monthly. Let me filter on urine vs feces. Make it easy to tell what’s happening at a glance. It’s so bad. I only look at the list view. Please rethink the chart UX!

Like I said though, otherwise the device and the app deliver on the core promise.

**Developer response:** It's great to hear you're seeing the all the benefits the Petivity has to offer, and that it's met your expectations with monitoring your cat's litter box visits. We appreciate your honest feed back of our app and your suggestions for a more simplified and user-friendly chart view interface. We are always looking for ways to improve the app experience, and will be sharing your thoughts with our team. Please know you're welcome to reach out any time to share feedback or concerns by calling 866-979-2477 or email support@petivity.com. We're happy to have you as part of the Petivity family. - Your Petivity Team

### 3/5 — So-so

*2025-08-05, version 2.16.0*

Provides good info but app is pretty darn buggy. Needs better options for accessing/editing/correcting data, especially for events more than a few days old.

### 5/5 — Really helpful

*2025-07-17, version 2.16.0*

One of our cats struggles with bladder stones. The Petivity litter box and app make it really easy to monitor her habits.

My wife and I can’t wait for multi-user or shared access to the app!

### 4/5 — Needs manual event option

*2025-06-09, version 2.15.0*

I’ve only had the litter box monitor a couple days but I like it so far. It works in most cases—it identifies my cats correctly because they are distinct weights, but sometimes it gets the type of elimination wrong. The one thing I REALLY need is a manual entry option. One of my cats tends to “go” when he sees me cleaning the box, and it won’t register this as an event (other than cleaning).

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Constant log outs and errors

*2026-06-04, version 2.23.0*

Constantly logging me out and for the last 24 hours throws an error during login and kicks me back out. Really putting the k in quality here.

### 1/5 — Poor app design

*2026-03-07, version 2.21.0*

I don't know why a company as large as Purina can't find programmers to make an app that works. I've been using this for about a year. Why does this app keep signing people out of the app and then having to log in again every few weeks? It is beyond frustrating.

### 1/5 — Logs out all the time

*2026-02-28, version 2.21.0*

The constant log outs and pop ups are infuriating

### 1/5 — VPN blocks the app

*2026-02-18, version 2.20.0*

Can’t use app because of VPN

### 1/5 — Connectivity nightmare

*2025-12-04, version 2.19.1*

This app frequently logs you out, doesn’t save your login info, and requires you to reverify your credentials every time you use it. And you can only login via Google or Apple, no other direct username and password login option. It is defacto worthless because it doesn’t allow ease of login. So you end up not using the information. Fix the problem!

### 1/5 — Scale won’t connect

*2025-10-23, version 2.19.0*

The scale doesn’t connect to the app. It’s been over a month back and forth with customer service and they still don’t have a fix.

### 1/5 — Never worked

*2025-09-19, version 2.18.1*

I don’t know if this is more a review of the device or the app, but the whole thing was a waste of time and money. Only have one cat, one litter box and it just never worked. Customer support gave me instructions to factory reset over and over and it never fixed the problem. Maybe I got a dud, maybe it’s something weird with my house, but without decency customer support…. It doesn’t really matter *why* it doesn’t work.

### 1/5 — Great Scale, Terrible App

*2025-05-29, version 2.15.0*

This is the slowest app I have ever used, it’s like traveling back in time to the dial up modem days.
It doesn’t seem to learn pets habits at all, so I have to manually update the events if I want them to be accurate.
However, all this frustration is worth it to keep a record of my cats weight in her old age.

### 1/5 — Did not work

*2025-03-23*

I purchased the PETIVITY Smart Litter Box Monitor with high hopes, only to be completely let down by the app that’s supposed to make it all work. Setting up the app was an exercise in frustration. Every time I tried to log in—whether through Google or Apple ID—I was stuck in a feedback loop, repeatedly getting the message that my “login attempt timed out.” The kicker? It had only been about 10 to 15 seconds each time before that error popped up. No matter how many times I tried, I was never able to log in.

I followed every troubleshooting tip provided—deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting my phone, double-checking everything. Nothing worked. Without access to the app, the smart litter box monitor I spent good money on is completely useless. It shouldn’t be this difficult to connect a product to its companion app, let alone create an account just to get started.

Bottom line: If you can’t even access the app, you can’t use the product. Don’t waste your money until they fix this.

**Developer response:** Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. We want to make sure that you're able to get accurate insights into your cat's health! We're sorry to hear that you're not able to access the app, and we'd like to discuss this further so that we can resolve this for you. Please contact us directly at 866-979-2477, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, 7-days a week, CT, or via email at support@petivity.com and share the serial number of your monitor (beginning with LT___) as well as the name of the retailer where you purchased your monitor, so we can provide further assistance. ### 1/5 — Hate the new update

*2025-03-08*

I used to be able to click and edit the events directly in the timeline and now I have to do it on the list view which keeps refreshing every time back to the top. I have to keep scrolling back down to where I was and it’s very confusing and a waste of my time! I don’t see why they got rid of the timeline edit option!!!!! Very bad update.
Also, it never gets my cats nor the events right so I always have to edit it.

Update: it’s still not getting my cats right, I have to rely on a camera and spend 20-30 minutes every few days fixing all the events. My biggest complaint besides for what’s written above, is that when the app gets the cat wrong but at least it guesses something, I can change both the cat and the event in one go, but when the app say “a cat”, all I can do is click on which cat it was and then I can’t go to the next page to edit the event as well (which the app gets wrong more than 50% of the time), it just sends me back to the main menu. So I have to wait for it to load, scroll down to the event and tap it again to also change the event. So dumb. I wish these things got fixed already, the scale was very expensive, it’d be great if it actually worked. The app creators shouldn’t rely on ai getting it correctly so updating events should be much much easier and quicker. ALSO! We should be able to create an event manually if the scale had a hiccup and didn’t record them which has happened in the past.

**Developer response:** Thank you for reaching out and sharing your feedback. We want to make sure that you're getting accurate insights into your pets' health.
Please check that your monitor is set up correctly, leaving at least a 1” clearance around the box, ensuring your litterbox is 16” x 21” or smaller for best results and centered on the monitor and on a hard, flat surface. If you’re using a mat or placing the monitor on carpeting, raise the adjustable feet to the highest level to ensure the bottom of the monitor is not touching the carpet, mat or other flooring surface. All four feet of the monitor need to be on the same surface.
A great rule of thumb is to also check your monitor regularly to ensure it is balanced. While your litter box is off the monitor, press each corner separately to test for any movement. Raise the adjustable feet to the highest level to eliminate any movement.
Another factor that could impact data is whether your cat has some unique litterbox behaviors which can make it more challenging to get a true weight.
If you are still experiencing weight discrepancies, please contact us directly at 866-979-2477, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm, 7-days a week, CT, or via email at support@petivity.com and share the serial number of your monitor (beginning with LT___) as well as the name of the retailer where you purchased your monitor, so we can provide further assistance. Additionally, feel free to share any photos of your set-up too to help us with our troubleshooting. We’re always here for you. – Your Petivity Team

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Wonderful

*2026-05-17, version 2.23.0*

This is such a game changer for tracking our kitties. It would be great if we could add our own notes such as when they do urinate or defecate outside the litter box however.

### 5/5 — Error code 1041

*2026-01-22, version 2.20.0*

Unable to connect to xfinity xb8. Setting is 2.4ghz wpa2 and entering correct password. Also tried a hard reset. Petivity is in same room as xb8 and all other devices work fine. My review is specifically based on xfinity xb8 use with petivity monitor. I wrote to petivity customer support and will update this review with any additonal response.

Update: The Petivity Support team responded to my concern and fixed the problem after about a month. They kept me updated and even provided me with coupons which helped me purchase purina food for free. I am very happy with the customer support and the monitor is fixed and working successfully! Changing my review to 5 stars! I experienced great customer service and concern for my problem.

### 5/5 — Problem fixed

*2026-01-21, version 2.20.0*

Works well now that the connection issue has been fixed. The insights are nice. It isn’t 100% accurate in determining whether the cat went #1 or #2, but that’s a small issue. Would also like the scale to sync to the app on a slightly more regular basis right now it seems to be random and can be delayed by multiple hours.

### 5/5 — Works great

*2026-01-15, version 2.20.0*

Lets me monitor the littler boxes.

### 5/5 — Great simple app!

*2025-12-10, version 2.19.1*

Very simple and clear to use and read. I only wish it had better notification options

### 5/5 — Works well

*2025-11-17, version 2.19.1*

This is a great way to keep track of your pets bathroom activity and weight

### 5/5 — Very helpful for a kitty with FUS or kidney disease

*2025-11-15*

This is my second cat with FUS. My first kitty I didn’t have this, so he had already progressed into kidney disease before we caught it. With my new cat I’ve been able to see he’s been in the litter box more than double his usual, so I got him right into the vet and caught it early. We switched him to the diet food that helps breakdown structure crystals, and I’ll keep a closer eye on him. With Petivity I am able to catch urinary problems or kidney or even digestive problems earlier. It’s great that I can tell between the two cats (by weight) which cat was in the box too, to reduce that issue. Great product, fully recommend!

**Developer response:** Thank you for sharing such a thoughtful review! We’re really glad Petivity helped you catch your new cat’s symptoms early, especially after what you went through with your first kitty. It’s great to hear that the insights made it easier to track each cat, understand their habits, and work closely with your veterinarian on the right plan. Your experience shows how valuable early detection can be, and we appreciate you trusting our system to help you stay ahead of those changes. If you ever have questions or need support, you can reach us at 866-979-2477 or support@petivity.com. Thanks again for being part of the Petivity family, and please give your cats a gentle head boop from us. - Your Petivity Team

### 5/5 — Awesome App!

*2025-11-14, version 2.19.1*

Helps us keep track of weight so we know if they need appetite stimulate/too many snacks… even when away. Extremely important for elderly cat that needs to maintain weight.

### 5/5 — Discovered an issue with my cat

*2025-11-14*

I had no idea by looking at my cat that she had been losing weight as she is a little heart at 12 pounds. But the Petivity device was giving me alerts that she was losing weight. She had lost just over a pound. I have 3 cats who free feed, so didn’t know if she had cut back on eating. Took her to the vet to discover a growth on the back half of her tongue. Now we are doing our best to treat it and give her a better quality of life and had to change her to canned food to keep her weight up. Without this device it would have taken longer to know she had a problem. I’ve had this device only about 6 months.

**Developer response:** Thanks for sharing your story and thoughtful review. We’re really glad the device helped you spot one of your cat's weight loss early. Catching a change like that in a multi-cat home can be tough, and we’re relieved the alerts pushed you to the veterinarian when they did. We’re hoping the treatment plan and the switch to canned food help keep your cat comfortable and supported. You can reach our team at 866-979-2477 or support@petivity.com if you ever need support. Thanks again for choosing Petivity, and please give your cats a cozy cuddle from us. - Your Petivity Team

### 5/5 — Very informative

*2025-10-28, version 2.19.0*

This system has amazed me with the information it provides. Especially helpful if you have an older cat, or health problems. Love it!
