### 3/5 — App ist okay, Kernfunktionen leider nicht top

*2026-08-12*

### 1/5 — Today's outage was mishandled. Be wary of relying on this to feed your pets if you are not home

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Today a software update was done and it created an WiFi error on the feeder. They said they the feeders should still dispense food while they were fixing the problem, but my feeder ha not not dispense food during the outage. They were very late getting out notices about the problem, which caused me to waste 2 hours this morning trying to figure out the problem. When it works this is a great product but Petlibro can't be sloppy like this when pets can suffer.

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work as advertised

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Petlibro has had a global outage for multiple days now. One of the selling points of these pieces of junk is that even if the power or WiFi go out, your feeder will continue to dispense food as scheduled. According to the three starving cats I woke up to this morning, that was a lie. Their customer service is completely nonexistent and they think I’m going to pay $72 to return their nonfunctional garbage

### 1/5 — App going down means your pet isn’t fed.

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

The fact that their servers are the only way some feeders can get food to your pets is ridiculous. If you’re reading this and you have just downloaded the app, and you’re within the return window, return it. Tens of thousands of pet owners have been unable to feed their pet with this device for the past two days.

### 2/5 — EVEN WORSE AFTER UPDATE

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

STOP UPDATING THE APP!!! WE DO NOT NEED AI IT IS MAKING IT WORSE. I CANNOT CONNECT MY DEVICES. PLEASE YOU ARE AN AUTO WETFOOD FEEDER NOTHING ELSE, LEAVE IT ALONE!

### 2/5 — Normally Fine But

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Worked great for months. Then decided that it didn’t, looks like there was a service disruption.

Unfortunately that means that it didn’t dispense any food for 2 consecutive feedings and I had to feed our cat manually.

It’s claimed that it dispenses even if disconnected so long as it has battery, so I don’t know why it has decided to fail completely in the face of a service disruption.

### 1/5 — Petlibro Review

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.75*

I've spent over $1500 on their products, and not one of my FIVE devices work. When I call customer support, I'm told there are no agents available, that I need to leave a message and and I will hear back within 48 hours. Is it reasonable to ask my pets to go 48 hours without access to their food or clean litter? Absolutely not! Unacceptable!

If I could go back and not purchase these items, I would. Waste of time, stress and money for products that they charge and arm and a leg for that just stop working.

### 1/5 — ❌❌HORRIBLE APP❌❌

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Latest update has bricked both feeder and water fountain completely. Threw them both in the trash. Do yourself a favor and AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

### 1/5 — Buyer Beware!

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

The automatic feeders rely on the Petlibro service to dispense food and will quit working if it goes down. It’s been so for days. Terrible design!

### 1/5 — Terrible

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

I have had nothing but problems with this app and my devices. I have reached a point where I cannot get anything to connect despite trying every single troubleshooting method I can find. I now have two very expensive pieces of trash. Petlibro really needs to step up the quality of this app and their products. It’s unacceptable.

### 1/5 — Garbage

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Update: I’m on day two with this thing and the device won’t connect to the app at all after once again suddenly disconnecting. I will never buy anything from this company again. The app is absolutely terrible. Set up took an hour because the app wouldn’t load and kept disconnecting. I have only had this feeder for four hours and it’s already completely disconnected from the WiFi for no reason. In order to reconnect I had to reset the device manually and then reconnect everything in the terrible app. The app is also not intuitive and if you enter you have two cats it dispenses double the amount of food you selected. I find it extremely suspicious that Wirecutter recommends such a terrible glitchy product. The sound of the food being dispensed into the bowl is incredibly loud. When the app does actually load and work it is close to unusable due to pestering you to pay for some subscription constantly.

### 1/5 — Recent update broke the app connection

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Unable to connect to WiFi after the recent update.

### 1/5 — Once again

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Once again, Petlibro has done an update and it just crashed all the machines seriously if I had any other choice for a pet feeder besides this, I would take it. This is the third big outage they have had after update and unlike their advertising says the schedules do not keep going after a server is down.

### 1/5 — 狗屎每次更新都会有问题

*2026-08-12*

弱智

### 1/5 — Devices malfunctioning

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

My devices aren’t connecting to the network. Not feeding my cats while I’m away

### 1/5 — Doesn’t work

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

New update disconnected the feeder from wifi and will not reconnect. Seems this is across the board with other users and they won’t fix the issue. Hard to have this happen when out of town or at work and you can’t manually feed your cats. The feeder is currently useless.

### 1/5 — Device connection will fail you eventually.

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Have had two water fountains for a couple of months now and they functionally work great. However after those first few months, the app fails to connect to the fountains no matter what we try. I’ve probably reset the fountains, Bluetooth, different troubleshoot routes, and reset my own WiFi at least 50 times.

Sucks.

### 1/5 — Unreliable

*2026-08-12*

Unreliable and terrible customer service. What is the point in the app and device if they can just spontaneously stop working? I wouldn’t recommend Petlibro to anyone

### 1/5 — App is down

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

The app has been down at least 3 times in the past few days. Which I had to leave work to feed my cat which is the entire product of what I was hoping for. Please fix this

### 1/5 — Unreliable Very Buggy

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

Horribly unreliable and will stop working randomly. Trusting this for my pets was a mistake

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — Fountain is fine. Don’t bother with app though.

*2026-08-26*

Subscription prices are robbery. App will not calibrate weight of device not matter how many attempts are made.

### 1/5 — Poorly designed app

*2026-08-19, version 1.8.86*

The app only lets you dispense in 12ths of a cup, not 8ths.

Two people can’t be logged in at the same time so I have to keep logging in and out on phone and iPad. Why???

The app and notifications keep trying to sell you other things. Why can’t I just go to the feeder?

### 1/5 — Bricked.

*2026-08-19, version 1.8.86*

What once was a usable and helpful device has become a glorified pet food container. The unit has been unable to connect to its network for a week, and the app is now useless. The company offers zero support. Thankfully, there are other options out there.

### 1/5 — Only use if you don’t need to share the app

*2026-08-18, version 1.8.86*

They have made the process of sharing this with multiple people horrendous. The process they tell you to follow is inaccurate, you can’t even sign in on more than one phone. I assume that helps boost your numbers for ads and stuff.

### 1/5 — Tragic

*2026-08-18, version 1.8.86*

Just a tragic company

### 1/5 — Stop asking stupid questions!

*2026-08-16, version 1.8.86*

Opened the app to make a quick adjustment to my cat feeder. Had to create a full pet portfolio with 100 questions first.

### 1/5 — Second RFID fountain now dead - both lasted less than one year

*2026-08-14, version 1.8.75*

Two dead in less than two years

### 1/5 — 1 Year Review - August 2026

*2026-08-13, version 1.8.86*

We were initially happy with the two Polar Feeders we bought when they were first released. Back then they had no server issues and meals could be programmed & served on schedule to our pets while we were away from home.

Then while away we started noticing we suddenly couldn’t schedule or manually dispense any meals. Upon returning home we noticed red/white blinking lights on the Polar Feeders suggestive of a loss of connection to their servers.

Sure enough, after a while they finally posted notifications confirming they were having server issues and promised they would be back up soon.

The major flaw with this product is that it’s totally dependent on your WiFi, the internet, and their servers. If any one of those go out:
YOU CAN’T FEED YOUR PETS!

You’d think there’d be a fallback connection between the Polar Feeder and Petlibro App over local WiFi whenever you’re at home so at least you can still dispense food whenever they can’t reach the Petlibro servers. Nope. No server: No food!

You really don’t need to read the rest of this review if you’re trying to decide whether to buy into their server-based pet feeder system… Our opinion after using them for almost a year? Don’t. (FYI we stopped using both our Polar Feeders over a month ago because they’re so unreliable)

More issues…

⛔️Like others have noted the App is insanely tedious, difficult to read, and overly restrictive.

⛔️ It takes OVER A DOZEN KEYSTROKES if you just want to serve a meal right now!!!

⛔️ The App logging us out after an hour or so. Having to manually re-enter our ID & PWD, each time.

⛔️ Failing to Save scheduled events with the error prompt: “Request timeout please try again later”

⛔️ Multiple Scheduled events appearing with the identical event numbers. (how is that possible?)

⛔️ Polar Feeder opening but there’s no event in progress indicated in the App (how is that possible?)

⛔️ Lack of App support for Apple Watch to dispense food or just opening/closing the feeder via.

⛔️ Annoying in-App ads.

⛔️ Annoying reminders about cleaning trays.

The Polar Feeder has tremendous potential despite its companion App being tedious & annoying, but the final deal-breaker is there’s no Fallback connection letting you connect directly between your iPhone & Polar Feeder when Petlibro’s server goes down or your ISP has an outage.

So after almost a year using this product and experiencing several server & ISP outages and being completely unable to access the feeders to feed our pets, we can no longer recommend purchasing this product.

### 1/5 — Trial Subscription Cannot be Cancelled

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

I signed for a free cloud trial for 7 days and now want to cancel.

However the app does not a have an easy way to cancel as the trial subscription does not appear in my Apple subscriptions nor anywhere on the app. The company likely is doing this intentionally to extract dollars from those that don’t have 60 minutes going over every menu in the app to find out how to cancel the subscription.

By the way here is the long procedure, which is not intuitive at all, to cancel the trial subscription: 1)click on bottom right icon labeled “Me”; 2) click feedback; 3) click manage subscription 4) click on weblink Petlibro.app; 5) login with your user name and password; 6) click on the icon that looks like a person; 7) click on billing history; 8) and finally click stop auto-renew. YIKES. This took me over an hour to find since it is not intuitive at all. Those that paid for the subscription would appreciate a law firm to file a class action lawsuit against Petlibro.

### 1/5 — 接続解除

*2026-08-12*

接続解除となってしまい、再接続ができない、本体がwifiと繋がらず、ずっと点滅したままです。アプリ側で指示通りに進めてもエラーばかり出てしまいどうにもなりません。。。

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — very bad app not worth

*2026-08-12, version 1.8.86*

i bought the newest version (2) where you can connect the device to your phone and track how much your pet is drinking, when the fountain needs cleaning and so on. personally, i got the cat version and had high hopes. however, the device loses connection often which is unfortunate as the app is also very slow or simply laggy. loved the concept but these minor inconveniences has me questioning the high price.

### 5/5 — Petliro

*2026-06-24, version 1.8.56*

Petliro

### 5/5 — Love this company!

*2026-05-13, version 1.8.20*

So glad we found them. Great products, app, and follow-up assistance.

### 5/5 — Perfekt

*2026-03-29, version 1.7.90*

Gute Qualität einfach bedienen

### 5/5 — Really good ecosystem for pets in general

*2026-03-13, version 1.7.80*

I’m updating my previous review as I didn’t properly set it up, now all good. The only problem I’m having sometimes is that the dock steam fountain is only 2.4G WiFi and disappears from the account from time to time. This haven’t happened within the last two months, however, so I am happy.

I especially love that you can integrate it with Home Assistant and through that make it work even from Apple Home reacting to Siri voice commands! (But you need a separate account with Petlibro and share devices with it if you want the native app to be always usable as well). That’s amazing, Petlibro, keep up your good work!

### 5/5 — 好用

*2025-12-04, version 1.7.31*

就是好用啊

### 5/5 — Ein super Produkt an sich

*2025-11-22*

### 5/5 — Water won’t flow

*2025-09-27, version 1.6.70*

Please help. Water won’t come out. It is all set up. Internet connected. Calibrated. Tried rotating the water tube. Nothing. Tried email and it said timed out can’t even email anyone.

### 5/5 — Problem with current firmware update

*2025-09-23*

These are great units with only a few problems.

Biggest problem: in recent firmware updates, the feeding algorithm was changed so that the food dispenser wheel rotates both ways in an effort to distribute food equally in both bowls (I have a dual bowl system). The dispensing wheel seems to have three small food receptacles. With the new firmware updates, the dispensing wheel does not make a full revolution in each direction. The result is that one of these food receptacles is never emptied. Food accumulates there, is never emptied and grows stale. Solution is simple: update firmware to ensure food dispenser wheel makes full turns in each direction. This may mean that the minimum dispensing amount changes slightly, but I would prefer that to having stale food accumulating.

Second problem: I have two of these feeders. They are identical, bought at the same time. The automatic firmware updater does not maintain them at the same firmware version. Seems silly.
