### 2/5 — Worst app going

*2025-10-28, version 6.1*

Constantly failing login, which it demands. It’s a Mickey-mouse operation the reflects the incompetence of the provider

### 4/5 — No way to read comments

*2025-05-31, version 6.1*

I haven’t discovered a way to read the comments on articles on the app, nor to post comments.

### 5/5 — Post gazette online is wonderful!

*2025-05-18, version 6.1*

I am impressed by the local coverage at the PG and look forward to great coverage; keep it up!

### 3/5 — Notifications are pointless

*2025-04-28, version 6.1*

Clicking on notifications of breaking news from the app do not take me to the app. They take me to the website where I have to login to read the news. This is pointless. What’s the point of having an app send me notifications if it doesn’t take me to the app? Every other newspaper I subscribe to has figured this out, but not the Post Gazette. This is frustrating and it’s easier to go to another news source.

### 2/5 — Complaint

*2025-04-19, version 6.1*

I pay for a subscription.

### 2/5 — Outside US access

*2025-03-25, version 6.1*

I don’t seem to enable to use the viewer outside the US

### 5/5 — Sports

*2025-03-07, version 6.1*

I went to grad school at Pitt and worked in Pittsburgh for a year. Pittsburgh is my favorite city. Being a fan of the Steelers, Pitt, Penguins and Pirates it’s the best way for me to follow Pittsburgh sports.
I live in Harrisburg.

### 2/5 — Notifications are pointless

*2024-10-24*

Clicking on notifications of breaking news from the app do not take me to the app. They take me to the website where I have to login to read the news. This is pointless. What’s the point of having an app send me notifications if it doesn’t take me to the app? Every other newspaper I subscribe to has figured this out, but not the Post Gazette. This is frustrating and it’s easier to go to another news source.

### 2/5 — Confusion

*2023-02-15, version 6.0*

Logging is confusing when you have never sign up for one. I never signed up for one and I cannot get full access on articles.

### 3/5 — Frustrating

*2022-06-03, version 6.0*

One of the best daily news sources around but by far the buggiest app on my phone. The page freezes and random re-starts make it unreadable many days.

### 2/5 — Cannot display letter, editorials

*2020-11-10, version 5.9*

This app is broken. It will not load many sections, including the letter and editorials sections. The “original” app, available here, is the only one that works well.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — $15 a month??!!!

*2026-07-13, version 7.0*

My husband just infyme we are paying $15 a month for digital access. Sorry not worth it to me.

### 1/5 — Can’t get content

*2025-09-26, version 6.1*

I love the PG and the app for years ran flawlessly. But now I can’t log in and just get error message about the content not downloadable, check internet connection. Please fix and give me my beloved PG back. Plus I am paying for an online subscription I can’t really use.

### 1/5 — Content no longer visible

*2025-06-15, version 6.1*

All of a sudden and can’t view any content on my iPad Pro 11” M4. Keep getting the message, “No content available for this page” I also am not able to get up-to-date content on my iPhone 16 Pro Max. I don’t know what’s going on, but I can’t get any support either. Click the link on the App Store site for support and I get an Error 404 page on PG’s website. Terrible experience.

### 1/5 — No dark mode

*2025-05-10, version 6.1*

How can you not implement dark mode? This is just one of many features lacking. I pay for a subscription for the content - it’s a shame there isn’t a better app to read it with.

### 1/5 — Stopped allowing login

*2025-02-03, version 6.1*

Have used this app for several years on iOS but the login functionality no longer works.

### 1/5 — No NewsSlide???

*2024-04-25, version 6.0*

The newest update of the PGe app got rid of the NewsSlide, and this new version is almost unusable. Very hard to read, slow to load, and generally clunky. We are subscribers to the PG, but will probably cancel because this new version is so customer-unfriendly

### 1/5 — Logs you out

*2024-03-29, version 6.0*

The PG is a decent news source. Unfortunately their app is not that great. It doesn’t keep the user logged in, so there is a constant wondering if you are still logged in until you get the notification that you have X free articles remaining for the month. The app sends you push notifications, but when you click on them it takes you to the website instead of the app. The website then requires you to log in. The push notifications should take you to the article in the app.

### 1/5 — Horrible New Version

*2023-08-22, version 6.0*

Ap freezes up more than 50% of the time. Have to delete reinstall. .. when it works it is great. Worst ap ever …paying $8/ month !!!!!! If I had another choice for Pittsburgh News would terminate .. try to a live person at the paper to discuss !!

### 1/5 — Trumpers

*2020-11-01, version 5.8*

Endorsed Trump. Immediately unsubscribed.

### 1/5 — Very old content

*2019-01-04, version 5.5*

There are Steelers articles from 4 months ago. Political stories that are six months old. I tried it before subscribing as yet another displaced Pittsburgher. Too bad as I would have subscribed had it even been adequate.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — Toilet paper

*2026-04-08, version 7.0*

What a liberal rag can’t wait for May 3 when it disappears

### 5/5 — Sad about losing city paper

*2026-03-30, version 7.0*

Love having a city paper!!! So sad they are closing.
We wanted to get a daily paper delivered at a decent rate when we moved here 8 years ago from York PA. Originally from Chicago. Weird delivery schedule so we did online. Very sad for the generation who grew up with a physical paper. Sign of the times 😢

### 5/5 — Hope

*2026-02-06, version 7.0*

One of the great newspapers in America. Hopefully a group of investors will respond. There cannot be a news outlet anywhere that covers local high school sports like the PG. One of the many reasons that PG needs investors. Mr. Nutting are you interested in helping save the PG?

### 5/5 — PG is great

*2026-01-22, version 7.0*

This is a great newspaper I have read since childhood. Sportswriters are terrific. I’m saddened that they will be shutting down in May. This was one way to stay in touch with the city you love when you live far away. Thank you for the years of service to the Burgh and for all the memories I have thanks to your coverage.

### 5/5 — Eddie C

*2026-01-21, version 7.0*

I will truly miss thePG

### 5/5 — I’ll miss this little newspaper when it’s gone …

*2026-01-17, version 7.0*

I’m going to miss it … the Trib is no substitute for

### 5/5 — Sad it’s being shut down

*2026-01-11, version 7.0*

Sad the trust fund babies who own the gazette who have done nothing but benefited from Their ancestors hard work can’t spare a few bucks to keep the paper running. God forbid being worth less than $100 million a year would destroy their lives. Incredibly selfish babies who think of no one but themselves.

### 5/5 — Sad to see it go

*2026-01-10, version 7.0*

Essentially needed for news

### 5/5 — Great read

*2025-12-27, version 6.1*

I have always loved the PG Reader. Thank you!

### 5/5 — Podcast

*2025-12-22, version 6.1*
