### 4/5 — Like the real thing

*2019-11-24, version 3.2*

I love being able to flip through the pages and chose for myself which articles to read rather than a slick app that tries to guess what I would pick. But the app can be glitchy, taking a long time to download, cutting off a line here and there, getting a photo caption wrong.

### 4/5 — Links

*2019-08-13, version 3.1.0*

Not all the links work. When you tap a link, article doesn’t open up to a full screen. It always needs manually expanded. Cannot go to a specific page.

### 4/5 — Sad

*2019-08-10, version 3.1.0*

What a sad state of affairs for our city. I absolutely do not like a digital newspaper. For a city our size not to have a daily paper is a disgrace. Just returned from Las Vegas; what a super daily paper they produce. At least 4-5 sections per day. Beautifully done.
The publisher of this paper should be ashamed.

### 4/5 — Got worse with last improvement

*2019-03-22, version 3.0.1*

Loads slower, wont load new days issue without a lot of attempts. Terrible app.

### 4/5 — PG iPad app

*2019-01-30, version 2.6*

Great way to read the paper just like it was delivered to the door. Transitions between pages are sometimes difficult and slow to load or slow to resolve.

### 3/5 — PG Slide Review

*2019-01-21, version 2.6*

For my purpose, I read the PG Slide most mornings. It’s quick & to the point. While I understand the need for ads to underwrite the free edition, it is irritating when you cannot slide to the next article or section without going back to the section headings. Small inconvenience for free.

While reading on my iPad, tablet or mobile device, some of the descriptions do not show up under the photos if they are longer than three lines. I am not sure if this because of the size of the device or just the inability to show all of the content.

That’s it. Minor things for a free service. Thanks!

Okay. That’s it. Minor things. Thanks.

### 4/5 — PGe app

*2019-01-19, version 2.6*

I like reading PGe and don’t miss paper, however, clicking on certain links does not always work correctly so I often just to it manually from the page turn at the bottom. Sometimes size of page doesn’t fit screen. Not sure if it’s my IPad?

### 5/5 — PGe app

*2019-01-12, version 2.6*

I like it .every day I receive my paper on time to my iPad. Very consistent. It’s all we have in my area. We have no delivery of a paper and no post gazette so I am glad to be able to get it. Love there sports. So I recommend it. Thank you lloyd

### 4/5 — Electronic version great

*2019-01-07, version 2.6*

Can link to articles, zoom, all the conveniences of an e format. Only reason I didn’t give more stars are due to issues logging in that went on for over 2 weeks with no callback from tech support.

### 5/5 — Only one problem

*2018-12-17, version 2.6*

When it comes in, it is great...but we do have problems downloading the PG sometimes, especially on weekends or when we are out of town.

### 4/5 — E print

*2018-12-14, version 2.6*

Because of the poor delivery service I received. I was forced into subscribing to the ePrint copy of the Post Gazette. I am satisfied with it, except that I am unable to receive the coupons that are in the Sunday paper.

### 4/5 — Love the PPG while away from home

*2018-12-13, version 2.6*

Im a Pittsburgher away from home for the winter months. I love being able to keep in touch with what's going on at home while I’m enjoying the warm weather. The PPG app makes this possible as I read the PPG every morning on my IPAD as I drink my coffee. Sometimes it jumps pages when I don't want it to but still provides me a taste of home any time I want it.

## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated)

### 1/5 — The app is garbage

*2019-12-23, version 3.2*

Despite the PG’s offensive advertising which mocked those who prefer a true newspaper, the app is dreadfully inadequate at delivering news. Often stories are cut off. Links do not open. And god help you if you want to read something from an earlier edition of the paper. Oh sure, they give you the option of loading the paper from earlier in the week. It is great fun to watch a spinning circle for hours as it claims to be downloading. In total, the app is garbage. Unfortunately the reporting in the paper isn’t much better. It’s sad because the Post Gazette used to be a great newspaper.

### 1/5 — Another Update, Another Failure!

*2019-02-07, version 3.0*

When I allowed the latest update to be installed, all my loaded papers disappeared, and for some reason they can’t be reloaded. The app just sits there saying ‘fetching’. Latest version (as of 17 Nov) and previous version, same issue. Does nobody check this stuff?????
Somehow this didn’t get posted, but the issue still exists. As of 6 Feb 2019 update, papers disappeared AGAIN!

### 1/5 — Useless app

*2019-02-06, version 3.0*

Really inadequate. Freezes, won’t open, archaic ways to view stories. Have to memorize or guess which section is which. Look at the WSJ app and try hard to implement 1 or 2 of its features. Then the PGe app will improve to terrible rather than completely horrible and useless as it is today.
Should have 0 stars but the AppStore defaults to 1. I rate it 0.

### 1/5 — Worst App Ever

*2018-05-20, version 2.2*

When it works properly, I enjoy the app. That would account for 3 days in 5 months. This app...how could any respectable, professional developer(s) sell, figuratively or literally, this app is beyond me. How could the Post Gazette put this app up for public use? Shame on all of you!! If this was done by in-house tech people, reassigned get rid of them. Hire an actual developer consultancy to delete the current app and create an app that works. Are you listening, PGe??

### 2/5 — Paper app

*2021-11-17, version 3.3.0*

The app is terrible for phone use. And it will stop working even when reinstalling the app. It is hit or miss if the app lets you enter on the phone. It is not from an incorrect ID or password. It needs to be revised for much better phone usage and not just I pads. It’s to the point we are ready to cancel the subscription.

### 2/5 — App review

*2020-01-17, version 3.2.1*

The app is very inconsistent. There are days I can’t even open the app or get the most current edition. That also applies to the Newslide app. Sometimes it won’t download, other times it’s not in focus, usually have to turn the computer off, and then back on and hope it works. Frustrating!

### 2/5 — PG Going Digital? Sad Start

*2018-08-26, version 2.3.1*

I often have pages overlaid on top of one another within the app making it unreadable. Sometimes get completely blank pages. If you leave the app and come back in it forgets your position. Needs settings to auto delete old newspapers. It is time consuming to do this basic task. The videos never play correctly.
The PG should have perfected their apps before their announcement of moving to a “digital world.”

### 3/5 — Needs a bookmark feature

*2019-12-06, version 3.2*

The app works if you finish reading the paper every day. It does not let you easily read the previous days paper. It jumps the the current day when you click a link and when the screen shuts off. A bookmark feature would be very helpful.

### 3/5 — Post Gazette

*2019-10-30, version 3.2*

No matter what your TV commercials say the printed news paper was better. I find I do not see the paper as often in electronic form as I did with daily printed version. If the electronic version keeps the Post from going bankrupt I will use it but it is not the same. I use my tablet for work daily and research stuff on line but prefer the old Post Gazette

### 3/5 — PDF version

*2019-09-06, version 3.1.3*

I only rated this a three because it takes a long time for the paper to load and you cannot stop reading and pick back up where you left off. You have to reload and start all over. It is heads and shoulders above their other electronic version which is very repetitive in the stories they feature.

## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated)

### 5/5 — So much more convenient

*2020-08-05, version 3.2.2*

The digital form of PG is so much more convenient, sitting in the car waiting for someone or just sitting in the house doing nothing. So much easier just picking up the iPad or iPhone and read the paper at your convenience no pressure no waste no recycling really enjoying it.

### 5/5 — Easy to use, good extra content

*2020-07-09, version 3.2.2*

I appreciate being able to see extra content, like videos or more photos with a news story. The download is easy to navigate, I can make the type larger easily, and the format is my familiar newspaper.

### 5/5 — Great reporting

*2020-05-04, version 3.2.2*

Appreciate the in-depth reporting on issues national and local as well as global. Appears balanced. Informative. Please put more articles on the climate crisis on the front page.
Certainly easy to use the app. Although I have been a fan of a printed copy, have found I really like the digital version.

### 5/5 — Excellent way to read the paper

*2020-05-02, version 3.2.2*

Easy, intuitive user interface, enjoy being able to read full articles by using the headline links. No unnecessary clutter. Highly satisfied.

### 5/5 — I am so glad I have a digital subscription to PG

*2020-04-04, version 3.2.2*

PG Digital newspaper is excellent in every way. Titles are highlighted well in blue ink, I have the ability to enlarge print, and I am free of the accumulation of paper.

### 5/5 — Very user friendly

*2020-03-21, version 3.2.2*

Good way to keep up to date. Highly recommend it.

### 5/5 — Work in progress

*2019-12-10, version 3.2*

I am getting more used to reading the news on the app and it is fairly easy to maneuver but there are still a few minor things to improve on. Not every article is expandable but I’m sure that can be remedied. The show/hide section button is a tad bit tedious. Overall I think it works for me.

### 5/5 — Nice way to Read News on iPad

*2019-10-23, version 3.1.3*

Just started using PGe app to read through the daily Post-Gazette. Tap to zoom the columns as I read them, highlighting words to look them up on internet and keeping earlier editions to refer back to all easier than an actual newspaper. I am nostalgic for the traditional page layout than seeing what comes on NewsSlide app and will use PGe when I want the view of the old newspaper.

### 5/5 — Great app

*2019-07-26, version 3.0.2*

When used on updated device not buggy at all. Love the feel of reading a newspaper and not a website.

### 5/5 — Exploring the Paper

*2019-03-02, version 3.0*

One of the joys of reading the physical newspaper is the exploration and stumbling into stories that doesn’t happen in the digital universe. This app allows for that experience to happen. Still need to fix when you click on story to read, but overall closest thing I’ve seen to replicating the physical reading experience.
