Now it seems the search function no longer works anymore for searching key database… so it’s not possible to import someone’s public key… if it is, I’d have to move in and out of the app, open other apps, email myself things—so then what’s even the point of having the app? I was using this app to avoid having to use a real email + having my data floating on xyz mail server + having to email back and forth to decrypt/encrypt. Please, friend, please update. I hate that, years later, there is still only this one PGP app in the entirety of the App Store. It’s too much responsibility for one person but clearly you’re the only one smart enough to make such an app! I would pay to use this app (well, if search still worked). I’m grateful for all the time I did get to use it, though. Thank you for building it! ### 4/5 — Not always intuitive but very effective *2024-06-04* I use GPG Suite for Mac on my Apple computer. Aside from occasional bugs in its Apple Mail plug-in, it’s simple interface has spoiled me a little. PGPro is somewhat less intuitive, but it’s streamlined, straightforward, and works just as advertised. It is a Must Have for encryption enthusiasts. ### 5/5 — Love it. Symmetric encryption or decryption is also important. I think iPGMail is good but it’s not open source… ### 1/5 — Doesn’t work *2022-04-30* Doesn’t decrypt. Completely fails to do what it’s supposed to do. ### 1/5 — Cannot get to work *2021-05-02, version 2021.1* Cannot get this app to work even with messages encrypted by this app. I suspect that it only handles certain types of keys properly. There is a FAQ but no documentation. I used to use SecuMail which no longer runs on 14.5. Besides working, it could verify signatures and handle pgpmine attachments. Not even one that’s been sent from this app. clearly broken but if this was fixed and reliable it could be really handy. ### 2/5 — Good, but lacking *2023-07-14* At the time of this review, the dev hasn't updated the app in a year. Despite this, GitHub issues are piling up that have been labeled but never responded to. There's currently no way to either verify signed messages or revert a key's name and email to their original value. I'll update this review to 5 stars if these get fixed. Updating this review to say that you can't omit a name or email address from a generated key, despite there being nothing in the PGP specification that requires these. ### 2/5 — Needs Browse feature *2022-06-12, version 2021.4* It'd be great if I could simply browse for the encrypted files to decrypt (asc, pgp,...) instead of me looking for another app to read those files and copy the encrypted message and pasting into the app. Opening them through the sharesheet (Share>PGPro) doesn't work, unless I'm missing something. * The reason it doesn't work is because it only pastes portion of the encrypted message. You'd have to manually copy them and paste them to the app in order for PGPro to work. I recommend iPGMail app instead. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — FANTASTIC & SIMPLE! *2024-11-26* I was really struggling to find a good way to use PGP integration on the Apple side since I was used to Kleopatra and Windows. Love love love this app and its ease of use + pain staking hours trying to use other Apple compatible ways of encryption. My only constructive feedback that would be fairly easy to implement: 1. Please make an app for MacOS integration. This would be one of a kind and would fill a large void for an easy and effective solution for Mac users. 2. Please add some sort of locked note feature / function. I store my encrypted notes, paraphrases, etc. on other 3rd party apps, but this would be nice to have them all under one secure area where I can encrypt and store everything. Across Multiple Apps! *2024-09-21* It took me a few minutes to figure out how to import public keys and a few of my password protected private keys. But then it just worked. It lets me even rename the keys with more info for those friends whose public key addresses have truly cryptic email addresses. When sending messages it lets me choose between all my apps, I’m guessing it’s an integrated and permissioned clip board that copies and pastes the encrypted text to the messaging app you choose. Gmail, Messenger, and even Notes etc it’s all there an it all works and it is actually intuitive once you do one or two messages. I do want to raise an issue, I notice that for keys without email, a “<>” is shown to the right of the key name, I hope the dev can remove this blank “<>”. Beside that, applauding for the Dev(s).
