I think the game really shines in how short a single round is, so you can play for as short (or long) as you want. ### 5/5 — Clean little word roguelike! *2024-08-17, version 1.0.1* Much like Balatro, there are 10 levels to get through, each with their own point requirements and randomized additional criteria (e.g., even length words, no using a certain letter). The game isn't a true roguelike in that you don't gain skills or traits over a run, but instead, you accumulate points to spend on powers. The music is great, the UI is very clean, and the overall vibe of the game is awesome. The only problem I have had with the game, much like with any word game, is the difficulty of knowing what words do or don't count in the game's dictionary. Overall, a fantastic and charming free game, as well as an impressive implementation of indie game development. Definitely for you if you like puzzles and strategy games. Plus the little ghost is super cute—who doesn’t like a ghost wearing a hat? ### 5/5 — Dude nice game! *2024-08-11, version 1.0.1* This game is fun, the whole idea is unique, I like the spooky cartoon vibe and design. Casp is pretty cool and smart for a in game character. The added element of permadeath and doing different runs is awesome. I unlocked a beanie for Casp by winning my first game, which was a cool challenge, it wasn’t easy but it wasn’t hard, and Casp kept beating me and I only just won. So far I can’t see any ads, and there is a leaderboard. I don’t usually give any game or app 5 stars so this is probably saying something. Any feedback I have is positive here: Can you add themes for holiday seasons at all? So around Halloween make the UI more Spooky, then at Christmas make the UI more Festive, maybe add some festive characters. Otherwise awesome game, good job man! ## Most critical reviews (10 lowest-rated) ### 1/5 — Bruh *2024-09-10, version 1.0.91* OK, first off half of the word I type either don’t exist or just are spelled wrong like I typed the word called yushui in the game said that’s not a word which it is a word so yeah I’m really annoyed by this ### 2/5 — Great but one BIG problem… *2025-04-27, version 1.0.999* This, along with Rogue Words, is one of the best word games I’ve ever played! The one big problem is that is seriously heats up my phone and drains the battery big time! Within 10 minutes, I had to stop playing in order cool my phone down and save the battery! Sadly, I’ll probably have to delete this very fun game because my phone just can’t take it! I hope you fix the problem before I have to give this up… that would be really depressing! 🥺 ### 2/5 — Frustrating *2024-10-05, version 1.0.992* Fun for a little bit, but too frustrating with words that should be allowed. Also there’s no way to undo if you misclick a letter which doesn’t happen a lot but enough to be annoyed when it does ### 3/5 — Great Game with Bad Dictionary *2024-08-20, version 1.0.1* The dictionary used doesn’t allow words like Awrong or Unglamorous both of which are words so I’m confidently typing things down and losing a point ### 4/5 — decent game but the word list seems confusing *2024-10-15, version 1.0.998* im assuming the word list is handwritten and not taken from an existing database because some words that you would think would count dont count, and half of the time you lose to words that havent been used since the 1500s, so its really just a case of adding more words thats my only complaint really ### 4/5 — Needs Refining *2024-09-20, version 1.0.95* The game works most of the time, but sometimes an invalid word will be falsely flagged as a completed word. For instance, “tranq” was marked as a word somehow. I blocked it, but it would be ideal to have the option to overrule the game in its error. The opposite error also happens, where the game will mark a false positive. The invalid word “culotte” was used by the bot and marked as real even though it isn’t. ### 4/5 — Bug(?) *2024-09-02, version 1.0.6* it’s either im not playing it correctly, or it’s a bug. on run 2 i won yet it said defeat and “you win with ___” at the same time. it restarted me. i did this again and it didn’t work ### 4/5 — Why??? *2024-08-30, version 1.0.4* Firstly casp is very smart and I enjoy trying to not spell the word but then there were these random words in dictionary no one knew and I kept loosing then I did phy and he challenged me and I said physical then apparently it’s not a word😡😡😡🤬😡😡🤬😡 ### 4/5 — Its alright… *2024-08-30, version 1.0.4* I started off having a lot of fun with this game. Until I kept putting in words that apparently weren't a word even though it is! With a challenging course, your participation, fun and excitement against kid friendly, making it right up to a fifth grade level, this word game better than flipping cards building vocabulary skills and spelling continuity. ## Most praised reviews (9 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Awesome engaging turn based word game *2025-02-18, version 1.0.999* I love this game, well done. It’s a lot of fun to compete against an increasingly competent cpu and develop a whole new sense of strategy. Only complaint is what seems like inconsistency in the dictionary. It offers a link to an online dictionary for definitions of words but some words are not accepted even when they exist in the dictionary - not proper nouns. But imagine if this was against real people that would probably be pretty fun too. On my third run(?) I got all the way to Lvl 10/10 but lost…I tried watching an ad but it won’t let me…I just wanna know what happens after Lvl 10/10. You lose at the start and then win when you learn, so the rouge like element is definitely there. The music is nice and fits the theme. You don’t need to have a very expansive vocabulary to have fun. Looking forward to future updates. It would be cool to have a local or online multiplayer to play against other people.
