What’s going on? Why is this taking so long?? ### 1/5 — Useless with iPhone 5 and 6 *2015-11-17, version 3.0.2* Does not support apples 30 pin to lightning adapter. Apparently they expect you to upgrade your iPhone and then upgrade to a newer speaker. ### 1/5 — Bring back the old backgrounds! *2014-02-26, version 3.0.0* I really valued and enjoyed this app before the latest version update. I enjoyed the photo backgrounds that correlated to the current weather conditions and time of day, all day and all night long. It was really lovely. Now, I can only use social media or my own photo slideshow. That might sound like a good idea, but I'd rather have a dimly glowing moon, clouds, or rain on my nightstand, not pictures of my family and friends cycling through all night. I don't even use the app anymore after this update; I really miss the previous version and can't find a suitable substitute. ### 1/5 — What were they thinking? *2014-02-12, version 3.0.0* The previous version of DockStudio had its bugs, notably a tendency to lose the option when changing playlists. There was cludgy workaround—restart the app—but it *was* annothing. This version solves that—by eliminating playlists altogether. Bad idea. Here's some shortcomings of the new version. 1) lack of dimmer control so the screen isn't too bright for the dark adapted eye. 2) no alarm clock 3) no access to downloaded mp3's 4) inaccurate location and weather data. My DockStudio thinks I live in another town. I'm glad I don't, since the temperature there is, apparently, always -1° F. When I try to type in the name of my own town, DockStudio says I'm not on the network. It lies. 5) bizarre defauls. I mean, Centigrade temperatures and 24 hour clocks? 6) sleep timer that won't run in the background. Check the weather and the timer conks out. OK, this was a problem with the earlier version, too, but that don't make it right. The newly added features, e.g. the slide show, aren't of any use to me. In summary, a tolerable app has been transformed into a useless app. ### 1/5 — Horrible update *2014-02-11, version 3.0.0* We used the DockStudio every night as a way to help our children go to sleep. They removed the ability to select songs, such as lullabies, from our own playlist, and now we can only use their radio application which is not suitable at all. They also got rid of the sleep timer which was a terrific function. So, basically this update removed the main two things we used the app for. We have now deleted it and will have to use more than one app to replace it -- Apple's own music app and timer app, neither of which have a built in dimmer function. At any rate, this update turned one of our very favorite and definitely most used app into something completely useless to us. The definition of FAIL, for sure. Wish I could check 0 stars. ### 1/5 — Alarm? *2014-02-11, version 3.0.0* Okay then. This used to be a great alarm clock app with the speaker dock. I would have given the last version a four star because it was a great app I would have like it better if it could make the screen darker even with the backlight switch activated so it is dim. With this latest version I don't even think it is an alarm system anymore. All it does is how you pictures in a slideshow and stuff like that. It is a dumb app now that it is no longer an alarm system. I am definitely going to uninstall this app within the next week if I don't get help with this problem soon. I am one of the first reviewers so I know that the pop makers or somebody will read this review. I am very unhappy with the update. What happened with the alarm clock feature? I do like the dock though. ### 1/5 — Love my dock, hate this app *2013-03-18, version 2.2.5* It's basically a watered down version of the music and the clock app combined into this terrible piece of crap. The pictures on here show that you can customize your background and add your own pictures. You can't. You can only choose between a metallic look and a black look. The alarm clock doesn't work at all because your iPod has to be dim the whole time so unless you want to constantly be tapping the iPod screen to keep it from locking, the alarm is useless. Don't get this app. It's the crappy version of the perfect music & clock apps. The only reason I downloaded it was so my dock would stop asking me to download it every time I put my iPod on it. ### 3/5 — Excellent dock speaker limited App *2013-02-18, version 2.2.5* I'll add two more stars when DockStudio adds two of these features, wake up to a chosen station and a user selected station list. It appears the developer of "TuneIn" also develop this DockStudio for Fidelio. I have a DS7550. The next better in sound quality is the Bose SoundLink with a 3x less bang for the buck relative to Fidelio. Common to DockStudio & TuneIn - play local songs from play list - sound or songs on play list to alarm - pick up station via Internet - single volume for Sleep and Alarm TuneIn only - save station to a list to be recall later - wake up to saved station (clock radio) DockStudio only - 5 days weather forecast DS will alarm in bell, bird or beach sound but station content of choice. To get around that, install both and use DS to unlock the DS7550 first, launch TuneIn, then close DS. While TimeIn is running in fore ground, pick a wake up station you like, open alarm dialog and start programming, this will place your favorite station as your wake up music source. ### 2/5 — Very disappointing *2012-05-30, version 2.2.4* I'm bummed. I really wanted to like this alarm clock. It just seems to be poorly designed. When the phone is docked and the app is running, there is always a low rumble coming from the dock speakers. It only goes away if I turn the volume all the way down... But that kinda defeats the purpose of an alarm! It is also annoying that the phone screen needs to stay on in order for the music alarm to work. I don't need or want the phone screen on all night. The LED clock on the dock is all I want lit. I also find it annoying that the screen dimmer applies even when the phone is not docked. This makes it very hard to adjust any settings in the app when it is daylight! I adjust the brioghtness down so that it is not too bright at night when it is docked, but then I can't even see the screen when it is daylight! I also find it annoying that the alarm only plays one song, and when you snooze it, it alays starts the song over again. I would like to have it bookmark and resume playing where it stopped, and I would like to be able to set a Playlist as the desired alarm, so it picks a random song. ### 2/5 — Love & hate this app *2012-05-29, version 2.2.4* I like the app because I can tune in to radio stations for free without pesky ads. I hate the alarm function which is why we bought the dock in the first place as an "alarm clock." I stopped using the alarm function after they didn't go off a couple of times. I have since deleted each alarm, uninstalled the app and reinstalled it. Why is it that one alarm is still going off? I'm just frustrated because if I forget to silence my iPhone the alarm goes off and if I delete it I lose radio stations and I'll get the pesky message to install the app again once I dock. Please fix this. ### 3/5 — The App Needs More Work *2012-05-25, version 2.2.4* First, most of the reviews are correct; the app has some serious issues - the number one issue is that it is not multitasking, but this can be attributed to the fact that Apple doesn't understand true multitasking (Yes, I am a Linux and AmigaOS user). The app did work when I first got it, but one of the last updates broke it. What I have discovered is that you MUST have the app running in the foreground, and set the "Override Autolock" feature enabled, or set Autolock to disabled. After that, it appears that 90+ percent of the time, the alarm will work. Of course if you don't want your bedroom lit up like the Fourth of July, then you have to set the brightness all the way down; then you have to reconfigure your device for daytime operations. As a result of these new "enhancements," I have become very disappointed in the app - I still love the clock radio docking station, it was a very wise purchase and continues to work as advertised. Personnally, I'm confused as to why the programmers messed with the app? It seemed to work. The only thing I can figure, is a new device is on the way, and instead of fixing its firmware issues and making it compliant, they tried to patch the app. Not the way I would have done it, but I'm not employed there. Let's just hope they really do fix it, add multitasking, and then all will be good, again... ### 1/5 — Useless *2012-05-04, version 2.2.3* I haven't tried the alarm but no doubt since it sees my fidelio speaker but when I select them it the app notifies me "accessory not supported" I've up dated to the most recent firmware (or at least downloaded an up loaded it speaker and the register the most recent firmware number though not the March date,it shows a Nov. firmware date. About have the time the app indicates no Internet connection, when of course my iPad does in fact have one. Oh an the iPad connects through airport with no problem. I'd say therefore it's the app. I've also deleted and reinstalled the app with no improvement. The DS9800 do sound great and are beautifully made, the app's just not even the free download If I could I'd give negative stars because of waste of my time dealing withit instead of relaxing listening to music from the speakers ### 1/5 — Needs better alarm!!!!!! *2012-04-20, version 2.2.3* It needs to work when I lock my iPhone. I don't want it to be lit up all night long. Also, I set the alarm volume and when the alarm go's off it starts at volume 00 and goes up 1 volume every other second and then stops at 16 when the max volume on the docking station is 32. It wouldnt be that big of deal if it kept going till the volume maxed out, but it doesnt. Even when I have both the phone volume to the max and the docking station at the max. Why? Not only does it no longer work, the option to connect to the dock within the app to sync it is gone now. It doesn't even read that it's connected via Bluetooth to the speaker from the app so they don't communicate. Now I have a dock that I paid all that money for way back when, and can't put the correct time on it because Phillips hires horrible app designers to make their apps. Absolutely unacceptable. Very disappointing. ## Most praised reviews (10 highest-rated) ### 5/5 — Why all the bad reviews? *2012-04-12, version 2.2.3* This app is great it doesn't crash or anything. It has Facebook and twitter so you can let people know what your listening to (includes album name artist and everything). You can listen to local radio stations (I can't find Jack FM or K Rock) but I don't really listen to the radio but when I have no choice those are my go to's. When I'm hearing my music on the iPod I like using the app because I can switch between the time or music info. The alarm works but not really because when it activates you can't hear your preferred song but you can pick a sound instead of a song so problem solved. So what's the big deal? Because you can't hear your song your going to give one star? It doesn't really matter to me cuz I have a PHONE. So let's recap it has song info, clock, weather, alarm, and you can update what you're hearing on twitter and Facebook. So to all the people that gave it one or two stars because of the alarm thing did you forget that IT'S FREE!!!!!! ### 5/5 — Works great *2012-02-05, version 2.2.2* I almost didn't buy a Philips Fidelio docking speaker after reading the reviews posted on here. I'm so glad I did! I have absolutely no problem with the alarm clock on the application. It has plenty of settings so you can customize it the way you want. You can wake to music, buzzer or nature sounds. I also like how it gradually gets louder if you don't turn it off right away. It's not a big deal to leave the application running while you sleep. ### 5/5 — It's great! *2012-01-17, version 2.2.2* I like using this better Music library originally on the phone. I haven't had a problem with this app it works very well if you know how to use it (to those dumb people out there with no patience)... It ain't that much a huge problem ### 5/5 — Awesome app and hardware *2012-01-09, version 2.2.2* I use this app for the DS1100 dock and it works perfectly. The interface is clean, user friendly and syncs with my playlists on my 4S without a problem. The only con is that I have to make sure the app is running in the foreground before I go to sleep in order for the alarm to work properly. Was very apprehensive about updating my iPhone 4 and iPad. Updated my phone's operating system first. Works wonderfully for me. The music options are what are most important for me. I dock more often now and still continue to thoroughly enjoy the wide variety of internet stations available to enjoy. ### 4/5 — Needs iOS update!! No sound!! 😞 *2013-03-02, version 2.2.5* I've been super pleased with my little Philips speaker dock until today when I updated my 4th gen iPod to iOS6. I no longer have any sound & it acts only as a charger now as another reviewer recently posted. Granted the app is simple at best I do like the bass booster feature selection which gives my speaker dock a great sound. You can definitely tell a difference without it. The app has lots of potential but it definitely needs some updates & fixes. ### 4/5 — My new favorite app! *2012-04-14, version 2.2.3* Overall I'm very happy with this app to run on my phillips dockstation. I haven't tried the alarm due to the bad reviews, I'll just us my regular alarm app on the iphone thank you! Bluetooth works great across the room, like having a remote! Allows you to keep your iphone/pad with you and you can use other apps/features of the phone while music is still playing. The only feature I can't figure out is how to save a playlist. Also can't seem to play streaming radio without the iphone being plugged directly into the device. ### 4/5 — Pretty Cool App *2011-12-30, version 2.2.2* Using 2nd gen itouch with small speaker dock. Pros: Sound is good. Alarm seems to work. After turning on location in the itouch settings the weather now shows up on my clock screen. An share favorite songs via Facebook or Twitter. Cons: like other users report the image does not change with the song when playing from playlist. The player automatically goes into shuffle mode when you start using it so it will play off your playlist unless you unclick shuffle everytime. Equalizer is accessible once the iPod is docked but I could not tell any change in the different sounds. Overall I can deal with the minor inconveniences for a free app that has some neat features. ### 4/5 — Great *2011-08-28, version 2.1.0* Whether or not you have a Phillips dock, this is a decent app. I downloaded it one day while at a friends house so I could use my iPhone with her dock. Even though it wasn't made for being used one other docks, I use it with my Apple Universal Dock. The alarm feature is really nice since it actually lets you select from your music library.
